    They really need to do better of keeping media and biased out of the courtroom. Doesn’t belong there. Otherwise you end up with people wrongfully imprisoned like that poor mother.

      I can't believe I never knew the full true story either and whomever wrote that story did a great job with all the detail and how they really drove home the whole entire sheer horrificness of what first had happened but how it could've. Possibly continued to worsen beyond belief the way it did... so heartbreaking and than outrageous for the family to go thru...

    Lindy Chamberlain was treated atrociously. It would be interesting to see how the forensics would result today. Also it’s “a dingoes got my baby!” She yelled it as she saw the dingo leave the children’s tent with something in its mouth.

  • @ElFreakinCid

    It's still so endlessly horrible that a woman having her baby taken by wild animals became a source of ridicule for so long, and the woman herself was accused of murdering her baby and even wrongfully sent to prison, all because for some reason, people were unwilling to believe dingoes are capable of dragging off and killing a literal infant.

    Story #2 if my friend went missing damn straight I would lawyer up. There are too many cases of innocent people being interrogated till they mentally break and confess. I don't trust law enforcement either. However I don't think her friends killed her, at least not in the ones mentioned. If you're drunk friends want to leave, take their keys or give them a ride home. Look out for each other, a little inconvenience is the least you can do!!

    Joel needs his own anthology series. He narrates, and we get full episodes of what happened. To make things different, whenever someone has internal dialogue, Joel narrates that too. That way we can get the deep voice “I’m a 15 year old teenage girl” meta.

    I feel so bad for that family. Not only did they lose a child but people still remember their horror as a joke. It’s like the woman who sued McDonald’s for burning her. Most people think it was frivolous but it wasn’t at all. There are a few cases like this, where the public knowledge is held more on the jokes made rather than what actually happened.

    • @Chelle8847
      @Chelle8847 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes!! That lady who spilt the McDonalds coffee over her legs, genitals and buttocks, i watched a documentary recently on that! I saw the photos of the awful burns, I feel sooo bad for her, in the media and like talk shows and everywhere she was mocked, the true info about her situation wasnt given and she wasnt allowed to talk about it while the lawsuit was in progress. There's so much more about her,and the events. I just feel so bad for her

    • @ashleysullivan8033
      @ashleysullivan8033 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You hit that completely on the nail.
      I don't often stay up to date with the news so by the time I get any info, it's often through a bad joke but yet I'm none the wiser to any actual events.
      I usually hate watching the news for the dread it leaves in my head before bedtime.
      However I can listen to these scary stories.
      I guess the difference is because these stories often come from survivors which is a good feeling instead of a bad. But I appreciate the documentaries too which are eye openers.
      But anyways, you hit that right on the nail. Because that's usually when I learn of anything in the news through jokes or gossip which isn't truly accurate.

    I live in Bloomington and I remember when the Lauren Spierer case happened. I was in second grade at the time and remember posters literally everywhere. Bloomington is such a small town and stuff like this does not happen. I’m certain there’s someone who knows what happened that night and is still keeping it a secret to this day. I can’t blame her friends for hiring lawyers, but of all the unusual events leading to her disappearance someone isn’t telling the truth. My BIL was kidnapped for a day once when we were in high school.
    He was on a school trip to Chicago for a couple of days. He and a friend wanted to find some weed so they asked some random guys on the street. Guys are like, yeah come with us. So they end up in the projects in a really bad neighborhood and they realize something is not right. They try to leave but the guys separate them. My BIL gets taken to an ATM where they try to make him empty his account. Instead, my BIL runs, losing a shoe in the process. The kidnapper pulls a gun but decides not to shoot and BIL gets away.
    His friend is still back in the projects. He decides his best option is to befriend these guys. They eventually let him leave and even exchange phone numbers lol.

    I think this is the soonest I've been here....uploaded 4 minutes ago. :o I'm in for a good next hour!
    Edit: oh my god halfway through the first story I realized it was the "a dingo ate my baby" story. This is why people need to respect and fear wildlife, no matter how cute or unassuming they can seem. But holy crap the Australian courts suck.
    On the 2nd story, while horrifyingly tragic, getting a lawyer is an extremely smart move - especially if you're innocent. The trope of "You got a lawyer so that means you're guilty" needs to end. Innocent people have unintentionally shot themselves in the foot by being overly cooperative with the police.

    Regarding story #2, if anyone wanna know more about the case, I recommend listening to the Crime Weekly Podcast, they recently covered it great depth.
    And regarding story #5, heard about it on another TH-cam-channel a while back, in which they also included a picture of the boy. Imagine my surprise when it popped up and I saw pretty much the male doppelganger of kid me. 😳

    TLDR: If you have to earn it, it is not love. From my life experience as a daughter, wife, and mom, I am sharing what, IMO, love is* and love
    is not**.
    *LOVE IS : patient, kind, and given freely without expecting something in return.
    **LOVE IS NOT: selfish, used to manipulate, used as an excuse of controlling or guilting someone to tolerate verbal, psychological, physical and other abuses. If you are dating someone who calls the later "love" get away asap. If you have a parent, per Story 4, who "loves" in that way, do whatever is in your power to avoid that parent. It may be impossible, but you can tell yourself daily that you are worth real love, and you will have real love one day. Love is a verb. Though falling in love with someone is often not a choice, staying in love is a daily choice. Loving is an emotion that you have to feed well so it stays healthy. What makes you feel loved?
    (Story 4 has my stomach in knots. I really hope there is an answer in this case, and I plan to look up the case.)

    The dingo story is incredibly rough, but also a harrowing reminder of why you should NEVER interact with wildlife.
    ESPECIALLY in Australia.
    Also, how insulting that after all that family went through….they don’t even get a third of what they had to spend on legal fees? Seriously, the whole situation is sickening.

    Who leaves kids that age in their own tent? That's what cabin tents are for. In the end both of the parents are at fault. They didn't murder her, they put her out for bait.

    • @HudaEmc
      @HudaEmc 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Exactly. Whether she murdered her daughter or not, it’s neglect to begin with. And bringing a newborn into the wild like that? When they’re so fragile at that point??

      And left it open, too, sounds like. They never claimed that the dingo tore its way in. Meaning it was an open front tent. Extremely neglectful and foolish. But I don't know that it's worth a murder charge and a prison sentence.

    I'm from the area around indiana university and I remember the first day I saw Lauren's missing poster. Sometimes I still hear it mentioned and it's weird to know something like that happened in my hometown. My grandma still thinks she was dumped in one of the quarries.

  • @notsoluvinbear5479
    @notsoluvinbear5479 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    For the first story, I’ve heard completely different court cases on that. CaseFiles reads about it and the line a dingo ate my baby comes from her discovering the baby being gone which is why there is more suspicion about her killing the baby than a dingo actually eating the baby.
    It’s interesting to see the more victimized version. By that I mean, the version where it focuses more on the torment the mom faced instead of the murder of the baby.

    I wonder for the Calico case, did investigators question the Polaroid company about persons
    Who might have special access to cameras as like beta testing. Or if someone which more reach was able to acquire the cameras before they came out…
