My mom was one of those crazy Christian ladies that never let my siblings trick or treat. Then when she got pregnant with her last baby. That baby just so happened to be born on Halloween. She felt it was God telling her to chill out. She therefore let her kids trick or treat going forward. And if your wondering, that baby was me😊

The private Christian School I went to put up a few colorful, heavy paper decorations up in windows and in classrooms, black cat in a witch hat, smiling orange jack o'latern, not scary looking ghosts. Halloween was the time between the pagan holiday and All Soul's Day or All Saints Day. This was in the 70s. In the 80s, the hard core religious movements took over. Not observing Halloween was a Jehovah's Witness thing as they don't celebrate Christmas or Birthdays either. Just Thanksgiving. Other Christian groups began to reject Halloween.

I had a bully when I was in elementary school. My mom had passed over the summer, and the school counselor made sure to inform my teachers and classmates about it so people would be mindful. Everyone was great about it, except this one kid who started bullying me out of nowhere. He would say "That's why your mom died" whenever I tried to defend myself from his verbal attacks. Everytime, it would make me burst into tears, but one day I got sick of it and when he said the magic words, I held back my tears and I told him I didn't care about what he had to say and walked off. He didn't bully me after that. I assume he understood that he could no longer control me that way and just stopped. All that to say, I think the bully must have his reasons for being the way he is, but it doesn't make his actions right. Plus, the victim of the bullying had no idea so there was no ill will behind what he said. Even if he had said it intentionally, the bully would still be at fault because he was causing someone else harm first.

Sure, someone might have low self-esteem, depression, rough home life, but that doesn't justify being a dick to someone else and making them feel the pain you're going through. I get that Josh's mom died, and how people grieve differ from person to person--emotion instability, more sensitive, bullying, etc.--but that doesn't excuse the fact he's still behaving like he was prior to her death, let alone literally trying to run OP over. I watched the animated stories of the first, second, and last in the video. That kid shouldn't have said anything about the bully's mom and the other kid in the third story shouldn't have said anything to the drunk kids either. Yeah, it's terrible that his mom died, but nothing gives a right to treat other people like human garbage. Circumstances can be understood, but that doesn't give you free license to hurt other people, no matter what. Sympathy for such people is really only wasted.

I watched the animated stories of the first, second, and last in the video. That kid shouldn't have said anything about the bully's mom and the other kid in the third story shouldn't have said anything to the drunk kids either. I'm glad no one died and that there was no poisoning that year in the fifth story! That's a relief! But it is scary how there is a true story about an evil old woman poisoning trick-or-treaters!
