RIP Brother Barry, thank you for your service to our republic and for promoting freedom. This channel has quickly become my favorite in the area of firearms. It reminds me of being 10 and riding my bike down to our local baseball card shop and just talking sports and cards. Barry, you were a major part of that and still get to be thanks to modern technology. We will miss your wisdom and all-around good nature.
GeneralGeorge I doubt it, guns don't belong in heaven, probably don't even exist in heaven...now I think about it, heaven probably doesn't exist either.
I recognized that as a Stevens as soon as you picked it up. My grandmother had a similar Stevens she inherited from her father in a 32. version. The vintage is early 1900s. The actual model was called the Stevens Crackshot 32. Stevens I believe was bought out by Savage Arms 30 or 40 years ago. That Crackshot 32' lever action single shot was one of the most accurate guns I ever shot right up the there with my 1946 vintage Marlin 39A Lever action.
Who is Barry? I mean which guy in what video? I hear a lot of people saying it but I'm newer to this channel and don't know there first names. Which man is Barry?
OMG, I was just watching IV8888 and wondered what happened to Barry and then saw this video and hoped someone asked about Barry... I thought it was some BS like "we grew apart" or "barry has his own channel now"... Unfortunately, I was wrong. It's the worse reason of all and one I didn't even consider. RIP Barry, straight shooting with all that free ammo up there!
I remember watching this video 10 years ago when it first came out. That was before Barry passed away. Growing up and still living in Griffin, It just isn't the same now.
Yeah keep this series going. All your videos are informative with great camera work, without any “over-produced” editing. I’m a big fan of the Gun Gripes series, this looks like a great addition.
Once again, thank you guys for taking the time to make these videos. I know I speak for many when I say we really enjoy watching and learning from you.
Barry was the guy who brought me to this channel. I have stayed because the content is good, but I won't forget these older videos. May he rest in peace.
I really enjoy the different direction and editing you guys tried out with this video. It's a nice bit of visual variety, and helps to clearly define what you're trying to get across in your dialogue.
i think Barry is kinda OCD .lol i know this is an older vid but when ever there some on the counter gun ,mag ,gear etc he is all way straightening and re-straightening it sometime 3 times in a roll well at lease the two of us have something in common
GREAT little video, guys; very interesting and useful information that anyone who's willing to really listen can understand. I intend to watch every one of these that you produce. Though I've been a shooter for at least 50 years, I'm still very hungry to keep learning new things, especially about something that is genuinely important to our culture and even to our survival as a nation. So thanks very much, and I'll look forward to learning about chokes, grains/fps/energy, drop compensation, etc
Excellent idea for a video series. The .22 lr is such a versatile round and so economical to shoot....every gun owner should have at least one .22. Can't wait to see the next one of these!
Oh. I see. You're a pathetic troll, doing nothing more than wasting oxygen and other precious resources. I thought that there was an actual discussion to be had here, but I was mistaken. Good day.
Sorry, I'm new to the channel. I was watching the videos, making comments about you all without knowing about Barry's death. I apologize for my ignorance. PLease continue to show the series. I'm leaning so much about guns and rifles.
Well done guys! Keep the videos coming. I have a Remington 579 that I regularly take on to the full bore range and shoot alongside my Parker Hale 308. I also shoot this round at an indoor range using an Anschutz match 54 for target shooting competitions.
Solid concept guys! Like the Gun gripe videos too. As a non shooter i glean alot of information from these videos and many others, so when i do start shooting i'm ahead of the rather steep learning curve.
Really nice work with the visual editing by the way; it's definitely a good thing to mix in those bits of relevant footage from your other vids, makes it more interesting to watch without going over the top and becoming distracting from what you're talking about.
My family all hit the black with their AR's . They get mad when i hit their thumbtacks with my 10/22. If SHTF, there's 133 rounds of .22 per pound and only 20 of theirs.
This is my favorite channel now, by far. I used to watch Nutnfancy religiously, but now it's this. I can't wait for a 45/70 cartridge fact video, please do one!!
Man i have to say I really enjoy your vids, I'm a newer sub you have a nice way about handing out info without acting like a total douche or trying to convince us your some kinda tactical guru. I was raised around firearms and know a good bit about what is on the market these days, but I'm always interested in whatever you guys are getting into. Thanks for not being asswholes :) Great channel keep it up.
Just called Moss Pawn to tell Barry and Eric how much I enjoy their videos. Dude on the phone said,"Barry is no longer with us." I figured the worse. RIP brother.
Gentlemen, Thank you for this video. My latest toy, an ATI GSG-522 6-inch barrel .22LR pistol looks really tough, snarling, and mean, but deep down inside it's just a 22-cal puppy. More like a mutt being California legal as a single-shot (bullet button). Yes, only one in the magazine - poor freak of nature. Some can relate taking that ugly but sweet freak dog home. No buyers regret whatsoever. Anyway, I had no idea there were so many .22 cartridge variants. I'm learning now. Again, thank you!
Great concept guys. I'm a fan of the .22LR, growing up poor it helped put meat on the table (even one white tail when it presented the perfect shot, though I wouldn't recommend that) and provided me with many wonderful hours of cheap shooting. There probably isn't a better single rifle for someone to own than a bolt action .22.
I like the Winchester 1890 pump action at the 4 min. mark. My Grand pa gave me one exactly like it when I was just about that kid's age (10-11?) He'd had it since 1912, he got it from the Sears catalog for $3.50. I sure miss that old rifle, love to have it back!
im diggin the new series. 30-06 next? i keep hearing about the versatility of this round, a little insight from you guys would be pretty cool. keep up the good work!
It's a Winchester model 1890 pump action .22. It's a fine piece. some have heavy octagon barrels, and there's a thumb screw on the left side of the receiver so you can break it in two for easy carry or storage. If you can find one, get it. See my other comment above.
Awesome video. I havent seen the Flobert since I was a kid. I used it in a Colt Colteer. When we couldnt use those, we used CCI CB caps. Thanks for the memories...
Just because something still works (or as you pointed out worked well in the past) does not mean it is not obsolete. The 30-06 is obsolete because there are cartridges with equal performance but smaller dimensions (.308). Also there are magnum cartridges (.300 win mag with equal dimensions to the 30-06. Dimension is important because shorter cartridges cycle more reliably; and of course are lighter.
Good video; that Stevens Favorite is the original firearm that chambered the .22 long rifle cartridge. Prior to that rifle's introduction, all that had been made were .22 long and .22 short.
Thanks Barry and Eric for the video. I enjoyed the video very much, thank you. Other interesting 22LR tidbits: As I understand it more people are killed by 22LR than any other caliber. The Calibre and super Calibre rounds are very quiet when fired from a 22 rifle. They don't have enough power to cycle the action but there are situation where they certainly useful such as dispatching varmints in a quiet neighborhood.
I lmao during the squirrel shot! dunno why that struck me as hilarious, but I laughed through the remainder of the video. Had to rewind to catch the end.
I have to say, by far my favorite cartridge on earth is the .22LR sunsonic 60 gr Aguila SSS. It does to a woodchuck what needs to be done, and it is almost suburbia-friendly.
Awesome! The firearms facts are a great idea man! Great show, with good info. I had never heard of the floberts before...sounds like fun! I personally (like so many others) have always wanted a 10/22, but I must say, I had a remington 597 (scope combo) for a little bit, and that was probably the most fun I ever had standing up! Pound for pound and dollar for dollar, I bet that was the most accurate gun I PERSONALLY have ever shot! The 597 scope combo doesnt come with iron sights though.
Even with a grill you gotta do it right. Gas grills are fine but if you have a charcoal grill you have to do it right. Don't use any match-lite charcoal or lighter fluid, it tastes like jet fuel. I recommend using a charcoal chimney. Its easy and you're food tastes great afterwards. You can throw some pecan wood chips or some apple even, maybe some hickory or mesquite, whatever your liking. Don't put them in the chimney, take a handful and scatter them out after you dump the coals in the grill.
Good video guys. I never knew what a ''heeled cartridge'' was until you explained it. I always knew there was something different looking at the .22 rounds in closer inspection.
I remember being in the 9th grade, and my home room was the indoor shooting range for ROTC, where they fired .22 rifles.
What a bummer....I did not know Barry passed away. RIP you old bad ass.
RIP Barry.. I hope you're up there plinking with Jesus.
GeneralGeorge I doubt it, guns don't belong in heaven, probably don't even exist in heaven...now I think about it, heaven probably doesn't exist either.
Do you know he's probably shooting better groups than Jesus is

Yeah keep this series going. All your videos are informative with great camera work, without any “over-produced” editing. I’m a big fan of the Gun Gripes series, this looks like a great addition.
i hate squirrels this video earned a like
Great video. The 22 lr is also most underestimated. It's just as deadly to humans as the big calibers.
Damn I miss Barry!
Miss you Barry, but your knowledge and wisdom live on, I go back to these videos all the time and still learn new things
"that is correct."
:)
Once again, thank you guys for taking the time to make these videos. I know I speak for many when I say we really enjoy watching and learning from you.
"close quarters work".

So much has changed :(
?
Now that you have started this series, this is probably the best firearms channel on youtube!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
i think Barry is kinda OCD .lol i know this is an older vid but when ever there some on the counter gun ,mag ,gear etc he is all way straightening and re-straightening it sometime 3 times in a roll well at lease the two of us have something in common

But I know what you mean
he died i didn't know did they have a vid about his passing?
***** Ya it's at the top of there list of gun gripes 85
Thanks for the new series, that's the first time I've heard about the Belgian Flobert information.
That poor squirrel.

Both of you are beasts with the knowledge.
Always schooling us young folks.
Much appreciated.
Shooting animals is not cool
1imesub Getting meat to put on the table that hasn't been pumped full of chemicals is pretty cool..

1imesub Really, because I could've sworn that you swallowed...
Great video. Happy to see some improved editing, it really adds to the quality of the end product. Keep it up!
You guys rock! Another great series starting off, as it should, with almost everybody's first gun, a .22. Keep up the great work!
What a great episode! You both are so cool to listen to, I've watched a couple of your shows and will continue to. Thanks!
I had to go back and watch all of these, I'm going to miss you Barry. God speed my brother, God speed.

Good stuff guys. No matter how much a person thinks they know, they can still learn a lot from you all.
You guys gives us so much good and informative stuff for free. Thank you many times
Very nice idea. I, like many gun enthusiasts, love the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. Looking forward to more of these kinds of videos.

Outstanding video! Keep em coming, as we here in Miami, Florida have enjoyed them and have learned a great deal from your expertise and experience.
Congratulations guys, another winning series. Keep up the great work
great series guys keep it up I knew it was going to be good when you said there was going to be a new one.keep it up looking foward...
Episode 2: What is an ASSAULT Rifle
Awesome new series guys. can't wait to see more
Nicely done, guys. Gave me a bit more history of my favorite cartridge.
I like the Winchester 1890 pump action at the 4 min. mark. My Grand pa gave me one exactly like it when I was just about that kid's age (10-11?) He'd had it since 1912, he got it from the Sears catalog for $3.50. I sure miss that old rifle, love to have it back!
I love the factoid vids as well as the history lesson. Thanks
i am gonna be honest, i thought this was gonna be dumb, but i led a lot about a gun i use almost weekly, and i really appreciate that. thanks a lot!!
this was a great vid. I look forward to the series. Keep it up
Damn that squirrel got f'd up! Love the vid keep'em coming!

Squirrel had it coming. BTW, I think you have one of the best channels on youtube. Have you ever considered a follow up vid on cooking squirrels?
That little Stevens rifle is AWESOME!
Just because something still works (or as you pointed out worked well in the past) does not mean it is not obsolete.

Awesome idea, looking forward to this series!
great series idea and awesome editing. Your videos keep improving all the time. Nice work man!
Thanks Barry and Eric for the video. I enjoyed the video very much, thank you.

Great video. I'm buying my first .22 tomorrow. A Ruger 10/22 synthetic model with fiber optic sights. Going to be a blast shooting it!
I have a model 1890 winchester pump with octaginal barrel and have seen my dad
strike kitchen /wooden matches with it, I love that rifle
Good video, hope the series runs for a while, and nice editing on your guys part.
I like all your vids, but I especially like the ones you do on the 22's.
I really like these historical type videos!
I have to say, by far my favorite cartridge on earth is the .22LR sunsonic 60 gr Aguila SSS. It does to a woodchuck what needs to be done, and it is almost suburbia-friendly.

Barry only said like 4 words in the whole video and was still Awesome!
22lr is a fairly versatile round in the correct weather conditions...my favorite
Loving the new series, I hope the rest of the episodes are as good :)
22s are great, affordable, available (some what), and good shooting at any level. Good video.
Great job boys, looking forward to the next installment.
Nice video guys .22 lr is my favorite round to shoot by far hope to see lots more videos like this
Very nice series.Keep'em coming.
Great video on the history of the .22lr.
Good video guys. I never knew what a ''heeled cartridge'' was until you explained it. I always knew there was something different looking at the .22 rounds in closer inspection.
