    What are your favorite play dough kit themes? I think Frozen and unicorn have been two of my favorites.

    Thank you for sharing! Ive been selling homemade playdough in my twowns farmer markets for a few years now, My biggest struggle is packaging. I'm definitely going to check out ikea I have never thought of that. :)

      I hope you are able to find some or a better container. Last time I checked Ikea stopped selling them! 😱😭😭😭 But sometimes they do that with items, and then remarket them as new. So I'm really hoping they do that because I feel they are the perfect container. I know that some etsy sellers use a different container, but I have yet to find out which ones those are.

      I just looked on Ikea's website, and it looks like they have the bigger containers on their site again. They are listed as sold out, but at least there is hope they will start carrying them again! www.ikea.com/us/en/p/glis-box-with-lid-clear-00283103/

    Ive never heard anyone say Ikea the way you do. Ive always said it like “eye-kia” lol.
    Thanks for the breakdown on these. I kept seeing an ad for them on Instagram and knew there had to be a cheaper way.

      I'm half German, and that is how I was taught to say it. I interviewed at an Ikea when I was younger in Texas and the interviewer mentioned that I said it the "right" way. However, for the American commercials they use the American pronunciation. SO, I have no clue. 😝😊

    I have been seeing these for so long and wanted to make them. I already do homemade playdoh so i wanted to make it even cooler. I did a recipe using coconut oil and the dough was so much softer! And today i found these hardware box dividers in the tool isle at dollar25 tree. So that is my plan and ill be putting them in my kids easter baskets(: i wanna make so many themes now!!! I cant decide!!!

      I'm so glad you found containers at the Dollar25 Tree (Made me laugh so hard, I need to start calling it this.)! I think finding a container that you like is the hardest part. The nice thing, is you can easily buy for other themes and switch them out. I still give my kids different themed kits, and they are always thrilled!!

      @@jskamshll8202 I did too!!! I see some people on Etsy using a different kind of container now, but I'm not sure what type they are. I have already spent hours looking so hopefully I figure it out soon.

    I made some with canola oil and they got moldy, wondering why. Maybe I should use vegetable oil next time. how long does yours last?

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have had some that has lasted more than 6 months. I tend to use vegetable or mineral oil(unscented), however, mine tends to dry out and have salt crystals form. When that happens, you just add boiling water, and it is good to go. I wouldn't think canola oil would mold like that, however, it could be that you have a higher humidity than where I live.

    How much glitter and what type do you add to make the glitter dough

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I normally wait to add the glitter on the very top of the finished play dough, then once the play dough is used it can be kneaded in. You can knead it in at first if you want. I would do at least 3 tablespoons if you want it completely mixed in. If you just want to just put some on top, it is probably about 1 Tablespoon. This or any dust glitter will work great. Here is one I used. amzn.to/3q65Sup

    Hi. Thanks for making this video. Very helpful. What would you price this item for if you were to sell it? If it costs around $10 to make.

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can see them for sale on Etsy and there is one lady who got popular because. Kardashian bought one and most try to sell for around $35-40 then the buyer pays shipping. But I think pricing depends on how nice it looks and how much you put in it. Right now finding the box is the hardest thing for me.

    • @hawkfu
      @hawkfu ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the box is very difficult for me to find as well. It's tricky to know how much to charge for the time that goes into making these. Trying to keep material costs down, but then not sure how to figure out the profit I should be getting for each and what my time is worth.

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hawkfu I would look on etsy and see what they are selling for, then start with that. It might take a while to build your brand so that you have a following. I have seen some where the initial purchase is the whole kit, then you can buy refills of just the fillings and playdough - that would be a lot easier to ship in a smaller container.

    Do you have to keep it in the fridge?

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sarah, you don't need to keep it in the fridge. I store the playdough in a tupperware or in a ziploc bag. There is nothing that can go rancid. It will dry out over time. Then you either toss it, or put boiling water on it and knead it again. Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Is there another place to find these containers, I see that ikea no longer has them?

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So far I haven’t found them, but I have been on the look out! Ikea sometimes discontinues items only to reintroduce them as new. I’m hoping that will be the case.

    Is it edible???

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      You definitely could eat it, but it would taste very salty. I prefer to not make it something we eat. If I was going that route, I would make a cookie dough that doesn't have raw egg in it, and then let the kids play and eat it. However, it wouldn't hurt anyone who would eat it. Thanks for watching!

    How do you get your playdough so white

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure, I just use the all purpose cheap flour from walmart which is bleached. If I add vanilla to change the scent, then I make sure to use the clear baking vanilla from stores like Michaels. I think the cream of tartar also helps with the white color.

    • @petronellacrane4597

      @TheSimpleHaus Tysm...I did not find any bleach flour...but tysm

    • @TheSimpleHaus
      @TheSimpleHaus  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@petronellacrane4597 So I think most all purpose flour is bleached, I think one has to specifically buy unbleached flour if they want it that way. Some say bleached isn't as healthy.
