Another reason I like Chris Pratt. He genuinely enjoys making movies and doesn't just view it as a paycheck. He sounds like a little kid describing all the cool stuff they got to do, and that's a quality I love in certain actors.

Excellent flick. Hats off to production team for engaging actual DevGru personnel to work with the actors to make this mission look authentic on film. Great job to the actors for putting in the time to portray these brave men as accurately as could be done. One of the greatest movies ever done portraying a real mission in my opinion. Bravo to all involved !

Even in real training you can get flagged, it's the instructor's point to be on it and only do those kinds of things with cleared weapons and no ammo available to accidentally load

I think it's Army more in the general sense of armed forces, instead of the branch itself.
Christian Romay I mean that army, in the lato sensu meaning of the word, can mean any military force, not necessarily the branch called army.

That was a great movie. You know those actors had to train like crazy with those SEAL and special forces guys looking over their shoulders. They did a great job, both actors and SEAL team guys.

When you realize in Jurassic World Chris plays Owen who trains raptor who also appears to be a former Navy Seal, and a few years before that movie he did play a SEAL.
Chris Pratt is also one of the few actors who has 3 technically 4 lego minifig models (Owen,Star-lord, Emmett from lego movie and Rex Dangervest lego movie 2)

So I will just copy and paste my other comment to you as well. He is correct. Real life military are not as nipicky with their terms as you keyboard warriors. All they care about is that you understand what they are saying and everybody knows what a silener is. For the love of GOD stop thinking you know more than the literal experts. You do not. Fun fact: the "suppresor" was called a silencer since its creation in 1902 and it was not until 1982 that anybody ever started calling it a suppressor. The words are interchable and stop acting like they aren't

It’s an important story that needs to be told so that people know what heroic figures special operators are. They go wherever they are sent to accomplish impossible missions for us.

All the gear the military gave Bigelow is a testament to how much her movie tells the story the way they wanted it told.
You only get military assistance when they get script approval. It was a great action movie, but seriously propagandistic

I always heard “zero dark thirty” used as the unbelievably early hours of either starting the military training day or assembling is the silence of the morning way past midnight when everyone was sleeping to launch a mission.
That’s exactly what it means. Except we would say “oh dark thirty” actually. it’s more slang but Hollywood comes along and makes anything cool into something lame
The real 0 dark 30? 0300. That's when physical, mental, and even environmental factors put all human activity at it's lowest ebb. Yes, it's tidal. Puny mortal, nature itself conspires....

@@ether23-23 they are usually called suppressors nowadays, since the gun isn't actually silent when using them. However, the term isn't wrong, considering the patent of the first suppressor called it a silencer. Just frowned upon because of the inaccuracy of the term nowadays.

One of my favorites parts is where they are in relax mode and the lady is on the phone and told the mission happens tonight. She turns to look at the guys, wondering as to how they are going to perform, thinking, they are not prepared for this. Then, the switch is turned on, it's go time!

This ops showed that we really have no idea what kind of stuff the military has. No one knew we had stealth blackhawks and even today no one really knows much about them. If one of them hadn't crashed, we would still not know they exist.

@@nahueroldan it takes five seconds to google "CIA Hollywood" lol. The Pentagon also does a lot of work in pushing media that paints the military in a pretty light in exchange for loaning equipment and arms for shoots.

If you all want to learn more about Seal Team 6 read “Richard Marcinko Rogue Warrior” it’s the autobiography of the Navy Seal that created Seal Team 6 and another unit called Red Cell.

I suppose there can be more or less precise defintions of 0 dark 30 - perhaps it means when the night is the darkest as Chris Pratt said. This of course would be a floatng target depending on the moon phase and cloud cover if any. Another reference further down in the comments is 0300.
In my military career of a quarter century, it simply meant "really early in the morning”. If a precise time was needed, it was specificed such as: “We cross the line of departure at 0235." or “Helos land at 0450, be at the LZ, ready to board, at 0435."

CAG is operating all over the world, successfully completing highly dangerous and important missions all the time to this day.
The reason we don't here about them, is the Army wants to keep them, and their accomplishments, as secret as possible - which many agree is the way it should be.
DEVGRU has become way over exposed via the internet, TV, and movies, which is cool for us civilians to watch, but some argue being that well known and publicized is not operationally doing them any favors.
It's highly likely CAG was involved in the successful UBL operation. They just did not want anyone to know.
I'm not surprised in this video you notice they specifically don't mention CAG/Delta being involved, even though we know they were based on that shot at 01:05.
I'm surprised the Army even allowed that little blip to be in the video.
just about anytime we see a specific Unit depicted anywhere, the real "Tier One" guys are in some other unit we have Not heard of... Yet.

The movie was originally about the unsuccessful decade-long manhunt for Osama bin Laden. The screenplay was completely re-written after bin Laden was killed.

Ok. Just a tiny aside here. I like how the weapons master called it a silencer... because I can't stand it when people keep having a problem with that. Yes, we know it is a suppressor, but you can call it a silencer and everyone still knows what you're talking about. If there was a separate product that actually silenced a gun and it would cause confusion as to what was being used without the right term, then I'd understand the problem. But there friggin isn't and a side note, "silencer" is the original manufacturing term. Nerds!

The whole "clip" vs. "magazine" thing bugs me the same way. Yes, there are differences, but their purposes are broadly similar, and there are very few situations where using the terms interchangeably would actually cause any confusion. Mostly, it's just a way for people to pedantically try to sound smarter than other people.
@@SynchronizorVideos Bad analogy. Silencer vs Suppressor is describing the same object. Clip vs Magazine are objectively different things, although perform a similar function. Clips aren't really used anymore except for like some WW2 era weapons or reloading a revolver.
As soon as someone starts silencing light we'll call it a silencer. Til then it's a suppressor, because it suppresses sound and light signature.

Yep. It's also annoying when people refer to SEALs as sailors. They never get it right. When you become a SEAL you're reclassified as a Special Operator "SO"

They're fairly interchangeable. The generic end of "special operations" is "forces", SOF which encompasses all the services.

A Person just cause they didn't appear in the video doesn't mean they weren't there. Besides, British SF tend to be a lot more camera shy than their American counterparts it would seem.
