I have two Apex Z790 Encores. One is mine and I built the other for my wife. I have found that Gskill/T-Force ram is not very stable for this platform. I am running corsair titanium 48GB at XMP 1 profile for 8000 - manually selecting 8200 with 14900K on both boards. No issues at all... read, write, copy all over 120 GB's and latency is 56ns.
i'm running my encore with a 14900kf with 48gb 8200mhz c38 on optimized asus settings, just literally punched in 123456 into the tREFI and it ran 9 hours with 0 errors on karhu's idk whats the lowest hanging fruit with it tho, many people say it's in the cpu but i feel like it's more important to get a board with top notch traces and what model ram you use and how it's cooled.
I was selling mine for $600.00. It’s an A04 built 03/2023. I listed it before getting the Encore, and everyone was low balling me, so I just kept it. I am glad I did. Because the Encore just doesn’t work.
Well that sucks, I have a Apex Encore but I dont plan on sending it back because I dont think I wil run high speeds such as yourself. Its impossible to find an White Apex anyways.
I own BOTH boards and the original 790 Apex DEFINITELY has better LLC CONTROL and Power Delivery. I have to run more voltage on my Encore to achieve the same stability my regular z790 Apex gets.

well i have a great 14900K that has the SA bug and the APEX ENCORE can't keep up with the APEX WHITE not even close in OC, its also true that ENCORE heats up more. Both my APEX WHITE and ENCORE came bent like a banana but the WHITE does OC incredible easy compared with ENCORE
This is my experience as well. Didn’t you buy a 14900K from CENS? Did you see that P-SP120 for sale for like ? Something is off with that chip. I’m not sure what. But something is up I talked to the guy.

I updated to the latest BIOS on my Z790 formula and can now boot to windows on 8000 mhz on my 13900ks chip. mind you my Z790 Apex white did the same but before the december update I couldn't even boot to windows, now it does. Now I will need to test for stability...

Wow have none of those problems. I have my Encore and have just finished another build for a friend with a Encore. Both are running tits, both running 13900KS with T-Force at 8400. I have two more sitting next to me for more builds. Trying to get the white Apex is next to imposable with the Encore being out. Also have to keep in mind it's a new bord it's going to take time to before it matures. Granted with your issues I would look at RMA that bord. Hope you get it worked out.
@@videocardzrule354 maybe the Encore quality is not consistent as the OG. Someone has tried 6 Encore, and the quality difference is large enough for a quality board between the worst and the best.
Just got the encore with a 14900k. I don't have stability issues, I'm good on 8000 CL40 Gskill. I do have the same exact problem with the Nvidia HD Audio driver though. That is bugging the crap out of me - I can't figure out a fix for that yet. What did you do?
My GPU has (3) bios switches on it, I coincidentally swapped over to a XOC bios on my 3090KP, and it worked on that GPU bios. But it did not work no matter what on my regular daily GPU bios 😞. I’m Fine now on the regular white Apex. I don’t know why the Encore causes these GPU audio problems. It’s very odd, and I have never seen it before.
@@videocardzrule354 Through a whole lot of trial and error, figured out it's the Asus Armory Crate that's preventing the Nvidia HD audio driver from installing. It installs totally fine before installing Armory Crate, and it will not install after installing Armory Crate. I think they did something strange in this newest version of Armory Crate.
Asus boards are hit and miss but great once you get a solid one. I've built 4 PC's all Asus and have returned over 10 boards due to instability. I love their boards but unfortunately they are mass produced and not QC'd well. I just keep returning them until I get a good one.

The Encore is essentially a mass produced white Apex with big budget cuts in manufacturing, and quality cuts on what components are used and soldered to the PCB. I did connect the extra PCIe cord, always do if there is one. My Encore I tested was absolute garbage though, it could do 8000c34 tops and even that was sketchy. Now, my white Apex Z790 is an A04, it is a beast with ram OC. So, I doubt most retail Encore’s can keep up with it. I think that’s where I went wrong. But I really don’t mind, I returned the Encore, I got my money back, and I’m still using my A04 Apex White. 😄

I am running 24gb sticks now. I was running 16gb and 24gb sticks in one of the white apexs and had the exact same issues you describe it was just a bad board. I haven't bothered with the black apex I bought it under the thoughts that it would have revised trace layouts and such, but it was just too much of a hassle to yank my good white apex out of my current rig and roll the dice on the Encore. I have yet to see anyone say it clocks better than the white apex. We are IMC limited.

It's just the 3Gbit are way easier to OC than the 2Gbit ones. My Teamgroup 2x24GB is doing 7800MT on a 12700k, which is insane. With an MSI z690i motherboard.
Which version of the white Apex do you run? A04? Never got 8000 really stable in y-cruncher on two Apex Encore boards. One time pass, the next reboot fails...tried 4 14900KS/K/KF CPUs, 4 memory kits...must be the board huh. EDIT: heard you mentioning it being an A04 on the video. Heard it's the best one for mem oc.
Why does the Post Code LED scroll through different codes when running normal. I have the white Z790 Apex and it does the same thing. Why doesn’t it stop like all my older boards on like (AO) when it’s booted up. It doesn’t cause any issues, I’m just not used to that.
I thought the same thing, but it's showing CPU temperature lol. You can turn it off in bios. Find LED section it should be there. Or in CPU temp monitoring

Im running GSkill 8000mhz stock, no overclock. Purrs like a kitty kitty all day long. Only thing I will do if i can get my hands on one is the 14900KS CPU that is rumored to be coming out. Im running the 13900K right now with an AIO at 5.8 gig all core. but the 14900KS is supposed to hit 6.2 out of the box which would be a decent upgrade since this is the end of LGA 1700 socket and might as well top it off with the best. Im going to stick with this set up for at least 3 years and stop spending so much money. I have a 4090 also which is a beast and not going to upgrade to the 5,000 series just for better Ray tracing specs. it's not worth letting this card go for that. Anyway thx for the info.
bro my encore was good until i tried to install another nvme now it shuts off as soon as it powers up, Idk I tried a brand new psu also. These dang things are so quirky. I wonder if there is a feature on the board causing that?
That’s crazy I have the same problem, installed a new nvme and new cooler now blue screen took out sticks put them back now runs only with xmp disabled and all limits enforced… idk what the hell is going on
@@BankboyFilthy yeah bro it's a letdown, a bummer for sure. The other day I couldn't even get Call of Duty to run, it works but only on 5600mhz, at first ai optimization was working now it wants to crash and not boot up when enabled.

I returned my 3rd Apex Encore Z790. All 3 had some kind of different issue, but the last motherboard is confusing me. Power button does not turn on PC 95% of the time, but 5% it does. Reset button works as Power button (no, wires are not switched up on the header). If I press reset button while in windows, then it will shutdown, and get ready...pressing power button while in windows...also shuts it down. Did they wire the board incorrectly, I am so confused. First board refused to boot into Windows 2nd board had GPU error light constantly 3rd board had GPU error light constantly as well, but then it just went away with no explanations. I did get my ram stable at 7800mhz, and when it works, it works AMAZING. But when it doesn't, I get 120 fps instead of 400 fps I would get in another game on the same map in Insurgency Sandstorm. Random stutters, but I think stutter is the 13900k architecture with E-Cores. I can't explain why this motherboard QC is so bad, but it's just inconsistent
My current profile I am using is already tested and stable. No need to test again. I’m using the same bios, same cpu and same ram. I ran this board for 7 months prior to this video.

Buildzoid has been saying the same thing he can't stand the z790 for ram overclocking 😂 he literally refuses to do any more testing with this generation of intel. It's the exact same board with wifi 7 and a gen 5 nvme pcie slapped on. They are not better or worse than each other.. You either got silicon lottery screwed or don't know how to overclock ddr5 (not an insult DDR5 overclock is fucking terrible)

I've literally built thousands of machines....... I cringe when someone wants an Intel system. There's rarely a smooth build (assemble, wiring, turn on= PERFECT!) Nearly EVERY AMD system I"ve built has been SIMPLE with no problems. Not to mention AMD has "RYZEN MASTER" which flawlessly and properly automatically overclocks for you. I will say though that the Ryzen 9 CPUs are the first I've seen faulty CPUs. However , it's rare though and ex to spot. I haven't yet had time to research experts' info on the Intel issues.... soon though. BTW the last 2 Intel systems were with ASUS ROG Z790 (4get exact model but for i9 14900k) Now i'm building a Z790 Maximus Apex Encore with the new LianLi fans with LCD screens in the hubs. These are all top $$$ components. They should just turn on and be perfect -just like the AMD systems.
You do not have a clue on what is wrong with your Motherboard. I have not ever got a blue screen and I am running a nice overclock and it nevet crashes runs loke a dream. You have another issue or the Motherboard is defective.

I have to agree with this. Comparing my z790 Tachyon and new Apex Encore. Voltages are much higher on Encore. Maybe bios update will fix this
Apex encore is great… easy tune… no issues after tm5 or karhu at all using latest bios. Maybe you got bad one

Sometimes ram instability wont show with TM5 even after passing 8 hours. You have to run y cruncher vt3 for an hour to see if it errors.

You running 24GB ram sticks? I think the white Apex works best with 2x24GB ram. And Encore works better with 2x16GB ram.

13900+ encore is unstable with xmps close to 8000

Why does the Post Code LED scroll through different codes when running normal. I have the white Z790 Apex and it does the same thing. Why doesn’t it stop like all my older boards on like (AO) when it’s booted up. It doesn’t cause any issues, I’m just not used to that.
I thought the same thing, but it's showing CPU temperature lol.
You can turn it off in bios. Find LED section it should be there. Or in CPU temp monitoring
@@righteousone8454 OK, I see that now. Like my AIO Pump display is right there showing the CPU temp, but I didn't know that the board post code would show that. Wow, actually cool now that i know that. I will leave it like it is then and not worry that there is something wrong with the system or board. I love this board too, It kicks ass and takes names. Im running GSkill 8000mhz stock, no overclock. Purrs like a kitty kitty all day long. Only thing I will do if i can get my hands on one is the 14900KS CPU that is rumored to be coming out. Im running the 13900K right now with an AIO at 5.8 gig all core. but the 14900KS is supposed to hit 6.2 out of the box which would be a decent upgrade since this is the end of LGA 1700 socket and might as well top it off with the best. Im going to stick with this set up for at least 3 years and stop spending so much money. I have a 4090 also which is a beast and not going to upgrade to the 5,000 series just for better Ray tracing specs. it's not worth letting this card go for that. Anyway thx for the info.

bro my encore was good until i tried to install another nvme
now it shuts off as soon as it powers up, Idk I tried a brand new psu also. These dang things are so quirky. I wonder if there is a feature on the board causing that?
That’s crazy I have the same problem, installed a new nvme and new cooler now blue screen took out sticks put them back now runs only with xmp disabled and all limits enforced… idk what the hell is going on
@@BankboyFilthy yeah bro it's a letdown, a bummer for sure. The other day I couldn't even get Call of Duty to run, it works but only on 5600mhz, at first ai optimization was working now it wants to crash and not boot up when enabled.

I returned my 3rd Apex Encore Z790.
All 3 had some kind of different issue, but the last motherboard is confusing me. Power button does not turn on PC 95% of the time, but 5% it does. Reset button works as Power button (no, wires are not switched up on the header).
If I press reset button while in windows, then it will shutdown, and get ready...pressing power button while in windows...also shuts it down.
Did they wire the board incorrectly, I am so confused.
First board refused to boot into Windows
2nd board had GPU error light constantly
3rd board had GPU error light constantly as well, but then it just went away with no explanations.
I did get my ram stable at 7800mhz, and when it works, it works AMAZING. But when it doesn't, I get 120 fps instead of 400 fps I would get in another game on the same map in Insurgency Sandstorm. Random stutters, but I think stutter is the 13900k architecture with E-Cores.
I can't explain why this motherboard QC is so bad, but it's just inconsistent

you ran tm5 @8600 for only 15 min and think its stable, oh brother.
My current profile I am using is already tested and stable. No need to test again. I’m using the same bios, same cpu and same ram. I ran this board for 7 months prior to this video.

Buildzoid has been saying the same thing he can't stand the z790 for ram overclocking 😂 he literally refuses to do any more testing with this generation of intel. He said you can test the ram for days and it would pass all tests then it would suddenly fail 😂 if he gets upset about ram overclocking you know there's a problem with it😂😂 keep up the great content mate thanks for the uploads!👍

It's the exact same board with wifi 7 and a gen 5 nvme pcie slapped on. They are not better or worse than each other.. You either got silicon lottery screwed or don't know how to overclock ddr5 (not an insult DDR5 overclock is fucking terrible)

I've literally built thousands of machines....... I cringe when someone wants an Intel system. There's rarely a smooth build (assemble, wiring, turn on= PERFECT!) Nearly EVERY AMD system I"ve built has been SIMPLE with no problems. Not to mention AMD has "RYZEN MASTER" which flawlessly and properly automatically overclocks for you. I will say though that the Ryzen 9 CPUs are the first I've seen faulty CPUs. However , it's rare though and ex to spot.
I haven't yet had time to research experts' info on the Intel issues.... soon though. BTW the last 2 Intel systems were with ASUS ROG Z790 (4get exact model but for i9 14900k) Now i'm building a Z790 Maximus Apex Encore with the new LianLi fans with LCD screens in the hubs. These are all top $$$ components. They should just turn on and be perfect -just like the AMD systems.

You do not have a clue on what is wrong with your Motherboard. I have not ever got a blue screen and I am running a nice overclock and it nevet crashes runs loke a dream. You have another issue or the Motherboard is defective.
