I read all about how finicky these platforms are with torque spec when installing the CPU. My first attempt in this video at re-paste and CPU reinstall went perfectly smooth. Install the LGA 3647 cpu in a 1,2,3,4 pattern with 12 inch pounds of torque. Removing the CPU you need to follow reverse pattern of 4,3,2,1. I hope this video is helpful! I had all (6) memory channels working in HEXA chann...

What’s happening in this video is: Some Asus Dominus Extremes have the “Cold-Bug” There’s a small resistor that prevents the PC from turning on if it’s too cold. This only happens on cold morning. And only on the very first boot when the board is cold from sitting all night. I am blowing hot air on the resistor which warms it just enough to fire the PC up.

Got a random tray 14900KF that does 8800 too, chip is insane. I plan to run this chip for the next 5 years especially since ARL was a flop. Gaming performance and 1% lows are insane
@@sneedsneed460 wow! Nice find especially on 14th gen. Yes I’d keep that as well.
VERY boring video(
Did I mention that it's very efficient?
How much ram in that system? Found a deal with a Gigabyte Aorus XTREME C621, Xeon W3175-X (28C/56T) and an EK Velocity WS Narrow ILM Waterblock and thinking at going for it. Will be used mainly for productivity but also some games here and there. Happy with the system? Is it rock stable?
@@PadPoet Mine is insanely stable, which is frankly why I love it so much, I use it daily for work and it never skips a beat. Apparently these CPU’s support a lot more than 512GB, level1techtips said that Intel lied on the spec sheet apparently, so I know they support (32GBx12) officially, so I can only assume they might just support (64GBx12) I am running 192GB in a (12x16GB Hexa Channel) G.Skill DDR4 3200CL14 Samsung B-Die. I run my ram overclocked to DDR4 3800CL14-16-16-36 with 1.500V and it passed Anta777 Extreme (3 cycles) even without a fan blowing at all, the ram was like 54-57C this test took about 5-6 hours alone, using no fan was done intentionally just to see if it would hold up, and it did. CPU stability is extremely impressive. Overclocking the CPU when needing to add more voltage to achieve stability, this is usually done and good to go with +/- 0.005 volts and things are good. It’s not like modern chips where we may need to add +/-0.020 volts to make something stable or not when overclocking. Speaking frankly here, this system doesn’t really need overclocking. It already is boosting up to 4.3Ghz, and 3.8Ghz on all 28/56. I’m enjoying mine so much. This rig cost me a good bit more than next gen Intel systems, and I’m having a lot more fun with this. The EKWB Velocity WS is very good as well! That’s what I’m using. Those Aorus C621 boards are insanely limited. They originally only produced (50) for retail sale, then they made (50) more. So roughly 100 boards out in the wild is what I was told by an expert/enthusiast of this platform. I have a video of proper CPU torque specs if you are interested, I never had any issues always obtaining hexa channel memory, and all dimm slots always work for me. If you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out. Thanks.
How does it game? 👀 Im on the little brother platform of that, x299
4.7 Ghz? dammm my 12700 cant even keep that at allcore
Great HEDT PC and coo, OC result! What is memory voltage for 192 GB? Did you tried to run 4200 Mhz RAM on your CPU, which has rather good imc with less amount of RAM?
@@max1024 It is an excellent system for work and gaming lots of ram, lots of cores. Using Windows 11 for a lot of apps when working feels especially fast compared to something like a 14900KS, I do not know why this is, but it’s a crazy smooth and fluid system. For running faster memory speeds it probably can be done but with less ram obviously and preferably using single rank DDR4 ram sticks. So, something like using 6x8GB (48GB) or 12x8GB (96GB) would probably overclock much better than Dual Rank sticks. Then my current 12x16GB (192GB). I am only using 1.500V to the memory for DDR4 3800CL14-14-14-34 360 1T command rate. The bandwidth and latency is already so good using dual rank sticks and all 12 slots filled, that I’m quite happy with even just the stock XMP DDR4 3200CL14. So running 3800 is especially good! The platform is HEXA channel, just small ram overclocks provides pretty large improvements. I cannot get DDR4 4000 to work with 192GB of DDR4, though I have not tried all that hard. But I think 3850-3900 would probably be the limits.

i feel like alot of people have fake overclocks that arent even effective but when u see a 45000 score cinebench thats real clock speed
so i put my 14900ks at 6.1ghz turbo ratio in intel extreme utlity and then i did a -95 undervolt to the core so that its running at 6.1ghz in call of duty and the voltages are around 1.5-1.55 but it honestly doesnt feel like its real effective clock. how do you get the clock to be real .095 undervolt

Do you have a guide by change on the teardown and pads & puddy used for reinstall? I am getting ready to do maint on mine and cant find a good guide anywhere on a teardown and replacement pads and puddy
2:52 Fyi when I stated this I mean Karhu stable, the dominus runs far tighter than those timings for 1T bench settings, but try Karhu and tm5 - it's a different story there.
That’s a really nice CPU with all those Cores and the amount of Memory is crazy. I’m thinking of switching to AMD for the first time and get that 9800X3D unlocked CPU or the 9950X3D. Both are supposed to be badass, but want to see the overclocking and benchmarks to see which is best for gaming. Coming soon 😊
That sounds like a great idea!!! I can only assume the 9950X3D will be really good. AMD is slowly getting better and better with their 3D cache CPU, the 5800X3D was already amazing, 7800X3D was much better. The 9800X3D will probably be a home run. The only reason why I built this platform, was because I more or less refused to buy a Z890+Intel 285K. I do not understand Intels direction lately. I miss the old days of AMD VS. INTEL. There isn’t a single thing exciting about a LGA1851/Z890 platform. Other than maybe someone upgrading from an older system like 10th/11th/12th gen. But for those of us who already had 13th/14th gen Intel. I don’t see the enticement.
@ I agree with everything you said. I have the 14900KS, Z790 Apex also. Only issue with my set up is that I can’t control the heat with a 360mm AIO and so it down clocks. The new microcodes keep it stable but have basically turned it into a 13900K. Cenebench scores are in the 38,000 range. I should stick with this CPU and go ahead and get a Chiller like you have so I can get the best out of what the Chip is capable of. I most likely will get the 5090 when it comes out also. It’s supposed to be a beast. I love my 4090 but the 5090 will offer higher resolutions and more bandwidth and other caveats.
👍
Crazy bandwidth for ddr4
Hi, would you like to sell that cpu of yours off. I would be happily buying it!
could only get my ram stable at 7800 with 2 24gb sticks , got my 14900ks at 60 all core 6.3 single on regular loop 5 radiators 2 d5 pumps

What BIOS version is this? I just got a Unify x and want to know the best for A-die
@@excel1234a I have no idea. I do not have this board anymore. Your ram OC on the Unify-X will depend on your CPU IMC Quality. Super strong IMC can run 8200+. Average IMC will be 7600-7800 range.
this board can do 8200 with a golden sample?!?!?! That’s crazy for a z690 chipset. I found this board new in box for 280 euros
Xeon 3175X MAX Turbo boost frequency is crap, only 3.8 GHz. Haha. In my Threadripper Pro I have 4.56 GHz.
@@FreightFox 3175X Turbo Boost is 4.4Ghz default on my system. But I run it at 4.8Ghz all-cores with no issues thus far. I keep the mesh/cache at 3.2Ghz, and run (96GB) DDR4 3800CL14 Hexa channel. The system latency is only 53.9NS in Aida64, Bandwidth is 155GB, over 160,000 MB. It’s pretty well tuned and performs phenomenal in gaming, which really surprised me since I’m using a overclock 4090 lol.😆
I did same thing but down the AMD lane, I bought a Asus WRX80E SAGE SE WIFI II board with a Threadripper Pro 5975WX 32C/64T CPU on it. Guess what? I use as my NAS PC. Using 256 GB of RAM. I also have ALL 7 PCI-E slots being x16, yeah all seven slots are PCI-E x16 speed on my motherboard.

Is the torqueing sequence more difficult than a 16 cylinder head? 😅
@@OneCosmic749 Torquing it is not bad. Just spin screws until they stop. “No torque should be applied when spinning them” then we torque it straight to 12 inch pounds in the correct order. Then I like to hit them again just for good measure in the same order. The hardest part is just removing the block. The block is large and hides the whole CPU, so if it dropped off the block and landed on the socket the motherboard would be ruined. The CPU itself self is very heavy lol. So you don’t really trust it. It’s fun to install and torque it. And I have to say mounting pressure and how even the block is, is far better than a latch. It’s just stressful and requires attention to detail I think.
Very nice.
Funny that a 13900k or 14900k scores more in CBR23... 42k for a good watercooled 14900ks is not unusual ...
@@lassekristensen385 Yep, that’s absolutely right. These chips are older CPU’s. It scores accordingly at these speeds in Cinebench R23. @4.5Ghz= 40,300 @4.6Ghz= 41,300 @4.7Ghz= 42,300 @4.8Ghz= 43,300 Now, there are a few upsides to this CPU. #1 being reliability. It is extremely reliable and stable as a platform. #2 it has so many performance cores that when I’m doing more it’s actually way faster and a lot smoother than a 14900. I don’t really know why that is.
@@videocardzrule354 I know.. I was also just teasing you! :) I know that this is kind of like enthusiast but not game enthusiast and I would love to play around with it for hobby. We have written a few times before- Always hugely impressed by you overclocks and chiller. I wish I could get one cheap that had the capacity for my system! But I am nervous that to keep up with my system I would need a 1000w chiller and they dont come around cheap. Also being located in Denmark we just dont have that stuff here. Very nice board. Looks good with that block.
A lot of people are praising the Processing Power of the hardware combo But nobody mentioning the Bloated code it is running. Starfield is a bad game because the code is very Bloated, too many trash code. Poorly written hierarchy
@@ClayWheeler This is an older CPU I get that. However, I have tuned it very well as of now. I’m running 4.6Ghz on all cores, and 3.2Ghz on the mesh, with DDR4 3800CL14 in Hexa channel. I have gotten the system bandwidth over 150GBPS, and the latency to 58ns, The R23 score is also hitting over 41,000. Now, as for gaming we all know it’s not some hot rod gaming chip I’m not saying it is, it’s just an old brute man. But it can be used to game with. This platform is used for fun, not bragging rights, it’s an older system obviously. Now, I have noticed so long as it can push 95% or better GPU usage on my 4090, then I’m happy with that. Some older titles like Metro Exodus, I had to set proper core affinity and it maintains great GPU usage while only letting the game tap in to 10/20 cores instead of 28/56 cores. Most other games push the GPU perfectly fine and don’t need to be messed with. This CPU is not anything amazing it’s just really cool and interesting as a whole. I am merely impressed that it can handle the 4090 at 4K at all, and it does such at very reasonable power consumption.

@@videocardzrule354 Probably because Starfield isnt CPU intensive and playing at 4K will always max out your GPU. Now go play some other games and you'll learn how bad your single threaded performance and frame times are.

HOLY MOLY DOLY BOLY SHMOLY
Just a quick note everyone! The power consumptions were wrong in this video. There is a setting in the bios, and by default this setting is on “4” this setting allows the cpu to think it’s pulling less power than it really is, so it doesn’t power throttle. When it’s on #4 divider any cpu power reading should be multiplied by 2.25x. So real CPU power consumption was 88-90 watts in the video. I changed the divider to the correct 1.28 which means cpu power numbers are right now. And I don’t have to multiply a number lol. Just wanted to let everyone know about the mistake on my behalf. Still pretty good power usage and the chip is very efficient in games considering what it is. 28/56 cores tons of ram etc. very fun platform!

How did you find out what was causing the problem? Did you have to research online or what. I would not have had a clue to troubleshoot that.
@@papasmurf5598 Did some Research on it. And then I located the exact resistor that causes the problem. Apparently blowing once is enough. You can also hold your finger on the resistor for just a second or two and either option will warm it just enough for it to fire up. I do have the replacement resistor so I can fix it though.
Why do you think this happens? Is it because the board is physically warping?
@@arunkanda6374 Some Asus Dominus Extremes have the “Cold-Bug” There’s a small resistor that prevents the PC from turning on if it’s too cold. This only happens on cold morning.
