Great review. I got one of these at the Telford show last year and since then it’s been very useful. Like you I’ve found that the light doesn’t bring much to the party if you already have a well lit work area. It’s a nice piece of kit.
Nice review. I have been in the market for one of those for quite sometime. I did buy one a few months ago, and it was a piece of crap, so I returned it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Jason, that looks like a very nice visor. I have the same cheap knockoff visor that you have. I haven't used it in awhile because I got tired of fiddling with it. Your new visor looks really nice. I like the two lens set up. I can see how that would be really handy. I guess I better add this to my wish list! Thanks for the review. Have a great day. Jeff
Nice review. I have an Optivisor that is old but in good shape. But, the extra lenses and the light would be something I could really use. I will have to check this out.
I've had what looks like just a rebrand of these that I got off of Amazon in February. They were $22 USD when I got them. I really like them, they've do exactly what I wanted them to. I do have to tighten the knobs on the side sometimes to keep them up. As far as the light, I didn't really notice that it made that much difference. And if I need more light, I have an adjustable light I can hang around my neck. These also work well with my glasses. Also, I kept forgetting that I had the light on and it run the batteries down. I had the ones like you had that kind of like a pair of glasses, they just didn't work for me. I also find the 2.5x the best for me. I also was wondering how you got that OptiVISOR so cheap. The set goes for at least $300 USD last I checked. But I love this series, I've been watching all day :)
Thank you for your video xxx can you tell me if I could use this with my own glasses too as I have double vision and prisms in my own glasses xx thanks again
My experience with head strap magnifiers that the forhead pads are awfully stiff. Therefore the strap must be tightened which causes pains in both the forehead and the back of the head.
I have just ordered the same item from ebay after watching your review and I was wondering if they are still working ok since you posted this video 8 months ago? I only had a magnifying glass on a helping hands stand but that was a real pain to use. I won't be using the light on mine when it arrives as I have a good lamp with a daylight bulb.
@@ModelkitStuff Hi, my magnifier arrived yesterday and it has made a whole world of difference. It is identical to yours but it has a different brand name. I used it with the 1.5x lens and that seems to be enough for my needs, anything stronger brings the focus too close to my face for comfort. It was so good that I found myself carving fingers on a 1/35 scale figures hand where the mould wasn't very good and then I re-carved one of the soles on his boot. This is without doubt the best modelling tool in my kit and I would highly recommend it for any modeller of any age but for older modellers with poor eyesight this is a must have item. Thanks again for your review 👍
@@ModelkitStuff I'm over the moon mate! it has totally changed my modelling. I spent the whole of yesterday afternoon and evening assembling one 1/35 scale figure, it used to take me a couple of hours max. The difference was that I could actually see every single bit that needed sanding scraping or filing where before with my small magnifying glass I couldn't until it came to painting. I was carving details that I wouldn't have been able to see were even missing before and this is just the assembly stage, I can't wait to get chucking some paint around, this device can only improve my practically none existent eyeball painting skills instead of me just aiming where I think an eye should be. Although my headset is identical to yours, right down to the plastic insert in the box, mine didn't come with batteries or a lens cleaning cloth. I will put batteries in the light and leave it on my desk as a back up plan to defeat the carpet monster!
Your headband adjustment will fail faster than your other one. I have theses exact ones. They did not last a month. I'm going to try mine without the light. I'll let you know.

Thanks for the kind words on the series, I definitely think these are the best magnifier glasses I have had

Hi Brenda, yes I wear my reading glasses under this all the time they don't interfere with each other at all.

I have to say I don't find a need to over tighten, perhaps change the position tilt it back a bit?
@@ModelkitStuff
Depends perhaps on the shapes of the skull. In my case I had to tighten it to stay in place.

Yep as good as the first day and I use them almost every day

@@martinoconnor4314 Glad it's working for you. the detachable lamp is handy for finding parts you drop on the floor!

I use one for electronic board repair , "soldering" , its a little heavy and awkward , IMHO. I give it a 6 out of 10

It could be the weight of the light as I have been using this more than a month now and all ok so far
I got from Indonesia shoppe online made in china aboun 6-7 USD
Thanks for the review. Very helpful. 👍👌
