Excellent video. It's the first I've seen that shows exactly where to position the jack. Showing th jack point with and without the plastic cover was really helpful. Most times people will just give a written description of where it should go, which is pretty useless. Great job!!
Why not under each control arm bushing. It’s the lowest point at the front and should be more than strong enough since it it subject to tremendous suspension impacts daily.
Why do what you suggested twice when the front central lift point is designed to lift the entire front end in one shot, for example to place jack stands.
@@NamHoang-wn6zp because you have to drop that central plastic cover to use a jack. What I ended up doing is used 2 bricks and cardboard to prevent damaging the central plastic and it worked for jacking m40i up without dropping the plastic cover. I also bought the jack pads too
@@jonasbaine3538You do not need to remove any plastic at all. Simply position your jack pad in the center of the indentation as seen in video. The plastic shield is already against cross member and it’s designed to be used as is without having to remove it.
@@jonasbaine3538 No need to remove the plastic cover - just place the hydraulic jack exactly in the center of that circular area and lift the entire front end then place good quality jack stands on the two jack points behind the front wheels and slowly lower the car onto the jack stands. Now you can safely work on the wheels, brakes, whatever on the front end. The demo just did that to demonstrate the massive steel cross member that’s behind the plastic cover.
2019 BMW x5 40 i has the exact location , and fortunately there is no cover for the jack point very easy, a metal piece visible with 2 holes in it. Just in case someone was wondering about this specific model
Directly behind the front wheels and in front of the rear wheels are these plastic rectangular blocks to put stands. I do not recommend those v shaped top stands. Best if you have flat tops.
my understanding is that the x series are front wheel drive and therefore do not have the differential in the rear. i own an X2 F39 S drive ans still cannot find a center lifting point
After lifting the front at the subframe as shown in video, you place stands at the front jack points behind the front wheels. There will be a rectangular plastic black jack point on each side.

Thank you for the kind words. Videos have always been much more helpful to me as well.
Thanks for removing the cover, as the dented spot seems to be soft, wasn't sure it'll hold the weight
Sure thing 👍
Thank you!! Finally a simple explanation. Looked all over. Do you know about the rear jacking point?
I’m glad you found this helpful. Rear central jack point is the rear differential body.

@@NamHoang-wn6zp I see. Well I didnt want to scratch my wife’s new m40i even on the underside! We love it!!

What size of jack do you use for your X3 if I may ask
It’s a 3 ton low profile hydraulic jack from HF.

Hmm… good to know. Thanks
Where do you put the Jack stands? Thanks

what about the rear jacking point?
I’ve owned BMWs since the 90s. I jack them all up from the rear diff. Make sure you use a rubber hockey puck on the jack pad.

How do we place the stands?

Nice house nice video 📹
Thank you 🙏
Can you show a tutorial on changing the intake air filter?
Ok I will try to video that for you soon. 🤙
Thanks for sharing.
Awesome my car slipped off the jack and ruined my radiator! So proceed with caution
