We state in this video that the air flow arrow should be pointing up but the air flow arrow should be pointing down when installing your new cabin air filter. Our arrows point down to indicate the direction the air is actually flowing. It should also be noted that the arrows on the OEM filter can be misleading if you intend to replace with an aftermarket filter. The OEM filter has "UP" arrows, whereas aftermarket filters show air flow arrows. If using an aftermarket filter, the airflow arrow should be pointing DOWN. This will make sense to you when you pull out the old filter and notice that all the debris (leaves, bugs, etc.) are on top of the filter. Therefore, the airflow travels downward, through the filter and into the blower vanes.

for a 2014 lexus Is 250 the air flows DOWNWARD into the fan. So I think this is incorrect. The stock filters will say up but stock isant specifying air flow, they're specifying the direction filter needs to sit. For filter heads their arrows are based on air flow direction which is downward in these cars. The debri sits on top of the filter which means the air is flowing DOWNWARD into the fan so air flow goes down guys!!

This user is correct. The filter always goes before the components such as the fan (which can be seen in the video underneath the filter), air is drawn/sucked into the system and old debris will be sitting on the top of the filter therefore airflow is downward. Quite simple really don't know why so many people get it wrong and just follow silly logic by looking at the 'UP' print on an OE filter which does not indicate airflow all this is to tell the dozy Lexus technician which was the filter goes so they don't need to use a brain cell to work out the airflow.

But on a 2008 IS 250 the manual says put the filter with the arrows pointing UP.

The manufacture did not put a cabin filter in this model. If it does have a cabin filter it was after market installed. Thank you for watching!

So I have a question does the vent suppose to be down ?
Because lexus dealership changed mine cabine air filter since then air keeps coming thru vent even circulation is off and ac and heat is off . Is that normal or they did messed up something

The vent should be down when your ac or heat is on.

When I took my car to lexus dealership for 90k mile service . They broke the part when I went back to talk to them they were like it's normal BUT yesterday I found the part hanging in there

I have come across a few cars where that part has been broken and the cause of the part being broken is from some one doing the installation of the cabin air filter incorrectly.

It would be good to goto a mechanic you trust and have them verify if it is broken. Ask the mechanic what they recommend for repairs. Then goto the Dealership informed.
