    There's a flow direction marker on the filter, you should check which direction the air flow moves and then align the filter.
    Otherwise, nice video!

      It was on the edge away from you. However Toyota OEM filters have an arrow that indicates which side goes up. Most aftermarket filters indicate "air flow" in which case the arrow needs to point down.

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You’re welcome brother 🙏🏾 You’re talking about that skinny silver trim piece that goes across the entire thing right? It’s stock like that from the factory on all IS’s!
      Call your Lexus dealer, ask them for the part number.
      Some are stingy, if they won’t give you the part number, keep calling diff Lexus dealers till you get the answer.
      Type that into Google and you will find dealers across the country selling that part at wholesale (30-70% off)
      Goodluck my man! 👍🏾

      @@SaraiGarage Thank you brother. I'm from Germany, and here we most of the time got the IS220D, which is the same IS, just with a 2.2 liter 4 cylinder turbodiesel engine and that's the one I personally have. The diesel version of the IS isn't even available in the U.S. as far as I know🤔 Here I've never seen one with the silver trim, that's why I was so surprised, because it makes it look much better xD. Maybe I'll find someone selling such a glovebox cover

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@gopanski5330 A diesel IS sounds crazy! Haha I looked into it a bit more and it actually might have to do with model years. In the US, these cars were refreshed in 2011 and produced as facelifted models until 2013. My car is a 2011.
      All 2006-2010 IS’s, regardless of trim or options, do not have the silver piece of trim. Every IS from 2011-2013 DOES have the trim. It might have been a small change made during the refresh that I didn’t even notice until you pointed it out.
      Go look at used models in Germany and see if it’s the same for you as well. My guess is that it is.
      Goodluck with the modification. If you don’t find a way to add it on, you could always just add some aluminum-looking wrap/ film!

    Strong egg smell could it be my air filter?

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is usually battery or coolant related.
      We had this problem in our BMW X5… the coolant hoses had paper thin cracks that were letting coolant leak onto the alternator and burn.
      The burning coolant smelled exactly like rotten eggs.
      Check all coolant hoses and battery components. Also check if battery has good voltage at start-up or if it’s on its way out.

    Can you explain why to leave the ac running?

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There’s a door behind the cover that automatically opens or closes with motors depending on your setting.
      Remove the shelf, and then remove the first hard plastic cover in the back of the glovebox.
      Then turn your A/C from recirculating to ventilating back and fourth…. You’ll see the motorized door open and close.
      You need to be in recirculating AC for the door to open.

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have a 250 and it’s been great. Bought it in 2016 with 50,000 miles. It is now 2023 with 136,000 miles. I have had 2 problems over my entire 7 years of ownership. The problems were a MAF sensor going bad (common) and my ballast failing (common). Other than that, it has been perfect.
      I think these cars still look timeless and the interior looks amazing, especially when comparing to Audi’s or BMW’s of the same era.
      Value for money there is no better used car out there. The only real problem with these things is the back seat. Don’t buy this if you’re going to drive people like kids in the back a lot. Buy an ES instead and you’ll thank me later! Goodluck my friend 🙂

      @@Jeelaski You most likely have some problem going on regarding your battery or coolant system.
      If I had to put money on it, I would say your battery is going bad or you have some parasitic draw that’s negatively effecting the battery.

      @@SaraiGarage So basically the problem came from filters but under the rear bumper . there are pressure vents or air outlet vents, vent valve, rear quarter outlet vents, are the names they have been called. They are accessed from the trunk one on each side, under where the amp is and on the other side. They are black vents with a rubber flap these break or even come off which in turn allows the exhaust to enter the cab of the car. All you have to do is replace them. $20-$30 for each one!! Also will fix the issue with the stereo not working when it rains due to the condensation that builds up around the amp ,

      @@Jeelaski Were you the same person that asked this question in the IS Freaks facebook page!? haha
      The same question you posted here showed up there like a few days later by someone and I instantly thought of this comment!
      If it was you, I saw that post as well!! Very helpful! I never knew those vents existed but my IS has had that random problem with the amp as well! It only happened one time to me on a day when it rained really hard! My screen worked fine but I lost all audio. I told myself I would investigate later when I got some free time.
      The best solution I could find on the forums at the time was "surround your amp in towels problem solved" LMAO
      Anyways, thank you for coming back and commenting a follow up! That's so strange that this was the solution to your egg smell problem. I've never had anyone say this was it.
      From my experience in BMW groups it always ends up being battery or coolant related hence why I thought that was the problem.
      I AM SUPER GLAD YOU GOT IT TAKEN CARE OF AND YOUR LEXUS IS HEALTHY THOUGH!!
      I will be making a video fixing those vents on my own car this summer when I get back home from college so my amp doesnt fail!
