@@lisao3041 At 5:00 he touches the socket of the ABS system. If he's electrically charged (e.g. by rubbing his body on the carpet) a discharge creates a little spark to the connector. That connector's only purpose is to transmit a little signal to fire up the airbag. Your discharge can do the same thing. Also after you took the airbag out always put it face up. So in case it goes of the actual bag of air can expand freely. If you put it face down the whole assembly is catapulted through the air (easy to find on youtube)

Shiiit, How did it get so soft and sticky?
Schnapsbrenner defect from factory lexus had a recall on it a while back
@@henryherrera9111 ooouuu...shit this one missed it. I'm glad mine didn't need to have the dash swapped. Although every recall means a day of mobile office at the lexus forum in an ambiente of nice cars and wonderful cappucino :D
I had this dash replaced at the dealer after looking into the service bulletin. The car can be out of warranty and Lexus will still cover it if the age of the car is less than 10 years !
Great info I tried everything with mine but remember here in Florida people at lexus they just laugh at you even though they know the protocols and that they have to cover it they deny it and resell to someone else because I've seen it .
Thanks for your efforts..from Australia ..
Awesome 👌🆒️🙌
nice video, thanks for posting. Will help me greatly!
Thanks to you!
Great video and great job!
its not ABS system, but AIRBAG 🙂
Thanks for the video bro! Planning on doing this soon.
did u do it how did it go ?
Very useful video! Thank you.
Amazing work
Nice work Stright to point thank you.
That's the airbag system not ABS but great video
Thx for the video! This seems impossible for me>< Hopefully I can restore the dash without replacing it
I HOPE you can make it work
Do you have a dash for sale?
I'm always hunting those I sold one last year new condition for $250 but these days with covid they are hard to find.
sir do you have dash for sale?
where are you located ??
Thanks a lot bro. This looks amazing
Great vid thanks 🙏
Please don't touch the airbag connectors like that. One electric discharge from your finger and your done...
be specific, what should you do, not do? How do you disconnect properly?
@@lisao3041 At 5:00 he touches the socket of the ABS system. If he's electrically charged (e.g. by rubbing his body on the carpet) a discharge creates a little spark to the connector. That connector's only purpose is to transmit a little signal to fire up the airbag. Your discharge can do the same thing. Also after you took the airbag out always put it face up. So in case it goes of the actual bag of air can expand freely. If you put it face down the whole assembly is catapulted through the air (easy to find on youtube)
Schnapsbrennor, I see. That’s a lot more meaningful comment after clarifying.
When did ABS come to mean air bag system? As a former employee in Ford’s brake dept,, ABS has always meant the anti lock breaking system. lol
@@lisao3041 I actually dont know about the shortcut. In Germany abs is also used for the anti break locking. I just know its also printed on every part in my Lexus, that has an airbag and that usually every bright yellow connector is airbag related
i'm gonna use this video to find a way from the back of the radio-system into the glovebox, cause i'm adding a "android car"-system and will place it in the glovebox i think...this video will help me a lot to do this..
Best video on TH-cam!
Thanks man I appreciate it.
wtf was toyota thinking? they had the same problem on the 01 - 05 IS 300....
Most Lexus have this problem I talked to a technician they said it was a new material they used but not anymore is a thing from the past.
Cool bro. You did well. I want to do on my too. But. I give up . 😂😂😂
great video boss
Thank you 💯
It’s funny you sound like a friend that I know named Kenny
Good job 👍
thanks for filming, not something I want to take on but interesting to see. May try a coverlay instead.
ABS refers to the anti lock breaking system, not the air bag system, just FYI.
What did you end up doing
@@cottonsmith8942, I still need to get the overlay, my dashboard looks horrible. I removed a phone mount and it ripped OFF part of the dash itself and now there's a hole! :(
Jesus! I'll just buy a really nice dashboard cover.
I need one dash board too bro. My one is not good.👍 But I'm in Japan is hard to find one in this country bro. 😂😂
For real ?? I thought it would be easier over there crazy how it sounds I have one brand new in my garage I already sold my lexus.
@@kennycharneca1 do you still have the Lexus is250 dashboard on your garage yet? If you try to sell, how much you need?
I have the same issue but I'll find another way.. good video though
I know some people reupholster the dash .
@@kennycharneca1 im in Australia though.
Has anyone successfully reupholstered their sticky dashboard instead of this full replacement?
Ive been told people that reupholster does everything but to be honest I bet it has to be expensive
I’m actually in the middle of reupholstering the dashboard and all 4 doors. I found a black vinyl that is almost an exact match to OEM. Aside from my time spent, fabric ($55) and adhesive ($20) total of $75.
Great job dude!
I’m thinking of wrapping my dash instead.
Thank you!
did this and my car isnt starting, cranking but failing after 3 seconds
Did you check everything?? Like the ignition button ? Remember the car need to read the key to unlock the alarm system
good job
tnx for video
Wow I try to do my self but it's a lot of work 😅😅
is not I did it 4 times already and I'm getting faster every time.
Jesus Christ, what a mess.
