To my humble knowledge, I believe this is the best version I ever heard. Sokolov interprets it with much feeling, is soft, slow, refine and offers moments of joy, peace, great lyricism and melancholy tenderness intermingled with great romanticism which characterize Chopin. Many thanks.
To elucidate a chopin waltz would simply be one thing, but the sagocious russian bred sokolov equiponderates his effacassiouslly profound talent in everything he plays.
If Chopin was still alive to see this performance, he would know his enemy is playing it with raw emotion, passion and love. If you know why I put Solokov as a enemy, then you clearly realize what Chopin has really been through.
This is absolutely the way this beautiful waltz was meant to be played . It is marked " con mo(l)to rubato " . Slow, then fast at times to contrast . Pianisimo , then Fortisimo for contrast .
Tender, solemn, determined, witty, relentless, questioning, brilliant, beautiful, spoiled child, cold, introspective... and so much more. The woman I love is this waltz in the flesh. She knows who I'm talking about
Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful. Many pianists try to show off and impress with speed. Sheer speed. And no one can do it with speed than Sokolov. But it's also about expression. Touch. This is where most fail and he excels. Very few pianists who have mastered touch. Thousands of pianists have speed. But it's robotic.
+mir kaa Ditto, it's my favorite waltz but every version was so fast and void of feelings and reflection... this is perfection... without the bravura I so often hear....
I think this is Chopin’s one of the best works :) in waltzes probably the number one, and this is my favorite interpretation, also i love version wich is interpreted in Movie “Desire for love” , and im glad i can play this beautiful piece!
That's the amazing thing about chopin even if you play it slow it still sounds beautiful. thank You to Josh Wright. i always wanted to listen to a slow version of these waltz.
This execution is technically perfect and very enjoyable. However, this waltz is an "allegretto" one (unless most available sheets are wrong!), not a "slow" one.
Oldville I guess you don't go for expression and feelings just technical terms, too bad , you don't feel Chopin... I do.... and this waltz is supposed to be played slowly, no matter what you call it. It expresses this way all the yearning and melancholy he felt and playing it fast misses the point.
You guess wrong, I am sorry. I do play this waltz, not pretending to play it perfectly of course. I like very much Sokolov's interpretation, which is very beautiful and expressive, but not fully respectful of the piano sheet. I would like to know on which basis you state that "this waltz is supposed to be played slowly".
imho Grigory Sokolov is the best Chopin's interpretator among the living. i am not a great fan Chopin's woks ... but i have heard it more than enough ... usually not until the end but ... but Sokolov's performance of music ... without coming off as long as the work sounds
it is amazing how even in a "simple" valse the performance can modify so much the depth and beauty of the piece.
To my humble knowledge, I believe this is the best version I ever heard. Sokolov interprets it with much feeling, is soft, slow, refine and offers moments of joy, peace, great lyricism and melancholy tenderness intermingled with great romanticism which characterize Chopin. Many thanks.

Tiffany Poon recently released an interpretation that I really love. I suggest you check it out
Vinay Chandrasekaran Thank you, will check it.

The Best piano interprentation I have ever heard. Subtle, emotional, and very technical. Only Gilels can compare to this
...Listening 1 thousand times..

A simple, short piece which tell more than any complex, long book, than any difficult and long speech. The deepeness of mankind is all here.
the most beautiful version of this piece...
Unbelievable. Absolutely breathtaking. Sokolov's Chopin is definitely unmatched.
My piano teacher sent me here and I am so glad she did 🙏🏼 so much emotion and so nuanced 😍
The best version I've ever heard
Finally...found the perfect version! :')
The perfect tempo for this marvelous little piece, a tempo that fits the wistfulness enshrined in it .
Such beauty. Sokolov never fails to get under the skin, astounding every time.
Exquisite
I just found my favorite pianist ! 🌟
Beautiful rendition!
Chopin would be happy of this interpretation.
Many thanks!
Best version I’ve ever listened to.❤
the perfect interpretation!!! love it.
Absolutely perfect.

Finally someone who understands the beauty of this piece and is capable of performing like it deserves. This one really got me. Thank You
+mir kaa Ditto, it's my favorite waltz but every version was so fast and void of feelings and reflection... this is perfection... without the bravura I so often hear....
Thank you Maestro Sokolov for your expression of Chopin.
Marvellous
Beautiful interpretation. I've heard this piece a thousand times, but never like that... Josh Wright Piano TV sent me!
Finally the emotions. Not the robotic play.
exceptionnel !!! " on danse " ... Quelle sublime musicalité. Merci Maestro SOKOLOV...
Thank you Sir Sokolov. Thank you a lot.

Yes, in a film it is played in the same tempo, melancholy and with yearning... and that is how I like it,
That's the amazing thing about chopin even if you play it slow it still sounds beautiful. thank You to Josh Wright. i always wanted to listen to a slow version of these waltz.
The thrills are perfect
one of the most played and ruined Chopin's works finally played as a jewel (like every Chopin's work...)
marvellous!!
EXACTLY WHAT I FELT: the one perfect interpretation.
yes and yes! its first time i felt a polish soul in this waltz
I couldn't say it better, so true: a diamond!
I mean sokolov plays everything well
my favorite version ever ❤❤❤
those trills are tight af
I looked and looked and this is the best version by far... so slow and reflective, beautiful.. everybody plays it much to fast...

Oldville If you only care about the sheet and not what is in your heart than you never will be a good pianist, sorry.
Absolutely shimmering and lovely. Thank you.
The almost extinct art of the 20th century pianist lives on through Sokolov.
He plays the shit out of this song.
Supreme beautiful performance.
Perfekt, mit all den sehnenden Verzögerungen.
See Polish film Chopin, Desire for Love and in it this waltz is played slowly like this one... and that is a perfection.
The best contemporary pianist! Thank you!
Sokolov tells always a story ❣️
I have listened to this for all day!
Magnificent.
Bravo maestro! 👏
I liked very much the version Claude Arau is playing, but since I heard Gregory Sokolov I think he is best.
So wonderfull ...
beautiful love this piece
such beauty
agree! and one of the very best pieces in A minor. Delightful
speechless
He plays some of the trills very long. Very interesting details that i find nice

❤ heavenly, 👏 👏 8
Exceptional sound!!!! it s perfect here!!!
My favorite interpretation by far. Ashkenazy's interpretation is very good as well.. But no one could play this piece as well as Chopin can.
We will never know.
Best version ever
A jewel...
Magnificent! Thank you.
nice playing!
Late Chopin was ❤
Merci...
Incredible trinades!
Gorgeous, Sir !
I love this song so much its my favorite piano song of all time!!!
I am sorry but this not a song, it's classical composition, songs have words
With profound melancholy , leave us meditating
Perfect.
PERFECT
Touch of Nocturnes like it should be. Best version ever.
Bella interpretazione
A unique interpretation
Una melodía triste y hermosa,. Sublime que transporta. Y Sokolov una maravillosa interpretación::
SUPER ! SUPER ! SUPER !
imho Grigory Sokolov is the best Chopin's interpretator among the living.
i am not a great fan Chopin's woks ... but i have heard it more than enough ... usually not until the end

Precious.
Grazie
fantastisk pianist
Awesome technique.
Melancholic and a little bit dramatic - this is how I feel this piece ad this interpretation is the quintessence of these feelings.
Sokolov, pianista de sensibilidad sublime
This and kissin Op.64 n.2 are the best interpretation of a chopin piece ever
Peaceful~
Toca com a alma! Lindíssimo!
meraviglioso
