Quitting dairy and wheat was the only thing that stopped the vicious cycle of bv and yeast . I also use boric acid suppositories after sex or my period is over just to keep ph balanced to prevent any unwanted bacterial overgrowths ( I use just one , not a whole round for days ) . The doctors will give you an antibiotic to kill the bv but then you get a yeast infection and the cycle continues . If you have to take an antibiotic take a liquid probiotic shot like a dairy free good belly shot WITH the antibiotic meaning at the same time as the antibiotic each time you have to take a dose of the antibiotic and you won’t get a yeast infection. This was a game changer for me as well . I kept getting bv after I had a new partner but all the things above I mentioned finally stopped the cycle for good . It was a nightmare until I did all of this . You don’t need to put garlic in your vagina - just get a good quality boric acid . Side note - for some reason boric acid affects the way you absorb magnesium and it’s advised not to take magnesium while taking boric acid so I just stop taking my magnesium for the day or two that I use boric acid.

I used to have a very serious problem with BV, my doctor had basically given up on me. One day I bought a bottle of probiotics from the grocery store (one for women). At home I opened up a capsule and put the powder in and around the area. Within an hour I had sweet blissful relief and I’ve never had an issue since. The reason I tried this was because I’d watched a Ted talk on how bacteria were a little bit like binary code, either on or off. My thought process was that if I add enough of a different kind of bacteria, the BV will shut off (like a light switch). It worked, I’m not sure if that was the reason, but I am free of this problem and in the end that’s all I cared about. And yes, dairy and sugar were a huge part of my diet.

Every woman should learn how to make fermented veggies, pickles, cabbagem any veggie.. I learn so much on youtube.. Our Grands and Great Grands used to do this, it used to be a staple in many homes. We've gotta get back to the basics, especially during this uptick in viruses. it's really the best for ur gut. Also, the 1st sign of a yeast or BV start taking probiotics. Hey there
Thanks for mentioning this. My daughter and I love to go wild swimming and for the past year we have struggled with BV. Especially on a hot day we just let our swim clothes dry on us and boy was that a mistake. Don't swim in lakes or rivers passed July 15th. There is just too much bacteria and stuff in the water. Thanks for mentioning this. Maybe a fix idea to do a lemon deuche after swimming or something cleansing like that. Thanks again.

Not sure if there is any risk involved with that, but i was traveling and desperate.

23 years ago I was where I should be, physically speaking. I had gotten married the year before and like the crowd was put on birth control and told I needed to douche every month. Then I got BV, and the dr gave me a whole slew of drugs- antibiotics, creams, gels, etc. I tried them all. Finally, the last one "worked"...but the damage was done. Seven weeks of multiple medications and I started gaining weight (at least 40 lbs...to start.) Then I started experiencing all kinds of things (terrible headaches, leg pains, fatigue to name a few.) Of course, all the drs did was label me with Fibromyalgia (which was relatively unheard of then) and throw more medicine (muscle relaxers) at me. This whole time, they throw medicine at me and all I do is gain weight.
All this could have been avoided had I understood about medicine. Now, thanks to family history I do have autoimmune diseases (now I have RA & Sjogren's) but I have been watching more and more and I am determined to get rid of the weight.
THANKS FOR YOUR DILIGENCE, DR BERG!!!

I am shocked he didn’t say anything about garlic. Sounds crazy, but works like a charm for yeast or bacteria. Pop a clove in overnight, for possibly several nights if needed, and it helps to rebalance the system. Along with some plain Greek yogurt. I had cycles of bacteria, yeast, bacteria, yeast after a round of antibiotics. It went on for months before I stopped doing the antibiotic/monistat combo and found this.

I have a question. I have epilepsy and on 2 meds. I have had uti's in the past more than I have ever had. My neuro told me to take D3 vitamin because my white blood count was low. Told me to take 5,000 units for that. I suffer alot with yeast infections so if I eliminate what your saying, this will help? That's hard because everything has sugar in it. Does this include fruit?

    • @carolinelaronda4523

TAKE D MANNOSE FOR UTI . Not everything has sugar in it . Just be strict for a few months until you heal your gut . Avoid wheat and dairy and eat organic fruit and veges and quality meat and you should notice a big difference. And if you’re going to take that much vitamin D drink pomegranate juice every day to dissolve and hypercalcemia you may get from that high does . I got kidney stones from supplementing with vitamin D after only 10 days . I stopped all the vitamin D and got out in the sun and no more kidney stones .

Boric acid suppositories can be pretty harsh on the vaj walls. Sometimes they make me bleed. It’ll wipe out ALL the smell, but I’m guessing it wipes out all the good bacteria too because my bv always comes back in a few days.

It actually doesn’t wipe out the good . You gotta stop eating wheat , dairy and high sugar foods/ drinks . Also , your partner may be giving it back to you over and over . I got BV from a new partner over a year ago . I kept getting it and it was such a nightmare but when I stopped wheat and dairy and used one boric acid after sex it hasn’t come back in about 8 months. It has been such a relief . I was getting really depressed but the diet change was everything

I guess everyone is different, looking at other responses to your comment. I tried the boric acid, and since it is known to kill roaches, I decided to test a small area on my vagina first, before putting the whole suppository up there. I took a very small amount and rubbed it on a pink area at my vaginal opening. Within 30 minutes, I felt a strong BAD burning sensation. The next day I had a mild uti, and it took a few days for the irritation to leave completely. I'm really glad I did not insert the entire suppository deep inside myself. Probably would have been a trip to the ER.

Could condoms and chlorine (i.e in swimming pools) be another possible cause? Also I have candidiasis. Apparently when you take antifungals, the yeast hides out in other parts of the body. I believe I have it on my head and in my eyebrows where it causes dry, flakey patches. On my feet and face it appears as liquid filled spots. I even got it in my eye I think. Is this possible? When I use antifungals topically, the, symptoms go away, only to appear somewhere else. It's like a game of cat and mouse!
