- Bacterial vaginosis is an infection caused by an overgrowth of "bad" bacteria that naturally occur in the vagina. Your vagina is its own ecosystem, and BV happens when the balance of that ecosystem gets disrupted. Lashera shares her story.
What is SOLOSEC?
SOLOSEC® (secnidazole) 2g oral granules is a prescription medicine used to treat bacterial vaginosis in adult women.
How should I take SOLOSEC?
SOLOSEC is a single-dose therapy for oral use. Use SOLOSEC by sprinkling an entire packet of SOLOSEC onto applesauce, yogurt, or pudding. The entire dose should be taken at once, and finished within 30 minutes. Avoid chewing or crunching the granules. SOLOSEC should not be taken by dissolving the granules in any liquid.
Important Safety Information
You should not use SOLOSEC if you've had an allergic reaction to secnidazole, other ingredients of the formulation, or other nitroimidazole derivatives.
Before taking SOLOSEC, tell your healthcare provider about all of your medical conditions, including if you
o Are pregnant or plan to become pregnant.
o Are breastfeeding or plan to breastfeed. Breastfeeding is not recommended. You should not breastfeed for 96 hours (4 days) after taking SOLOSEC.
Vaginal yeast infections may occur with SOLOSEC and require an antifungal treatment
Take SOLOSEC exactly as your healthcare provider tells you to. Do not take SOLOSEC more often than it is prescribed.
The most common side effects of SOLOSEC include yeast infection, headache, nausea, altered taste, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vaginal itching.
Call your doctor for medical advice on side effects. You are encouraged to report suspected side effects of prescription drugs to FDA at www.fda.gov/MedWatch also at 1-800-FDA-1088 or contact Lupin Pharmaceuticals, Inc. at 1-844-SOLOSEC (1-844-765-6732).

I get BV and I’m not even having sex. I believe sex isn’t the only way to get it. I think it could also come from your diet. Your diet can throw off your pH balance as well.
I’m changing my whole diet. Ive been tryna get to the bottom of it I read the other day preservatives feed the bacteria and they put that in our fruits and veggies. So for now On I’m going to the farmers market to get as much fresh produce I can cause I believe that plays a big part in it . Cause I’ve done just about everything except stay on antibiotics for long time. And I haven’t tried the yoni bv pearl

How did it go now?
im not sure if i have this or not. after protected penetration a couple hours later i got this internal vaginal ache and throbbing - a little smell but not much. I've been tested for STDs, bv, thrush etc and all clear. took anti thrush medication too and didn't help. ive had consistent pain for a week now! wtf is going on?

Might wanna go back and have them check you for Trich.. it’s a STD but they’re not checking regularly and all they do is check your urine.

I agree, it sucks to be more prone to ph balance than others. I definitely use boric acid tablets after my period. When I need to, and after sex. It helps so much, is super affordable and isn't an antibiotic!
I agree I think it’s the sperm I had a bad reaction from boric acid I think it was the brand I use
My doctor prescribed Antibiotics which made my BV worse and I had to use a Probiotic supplement to fix things down there. It's sad to see there is so much misinformation.

Plant based diet helps when I ate plant based it was healthy for my ph diet is good for it

Never had bv but I occasionally do apple cider vinegar w warm water baths/soaks. It’s one way I keep my PH in balance. I wouldn’t call it douching either. Apple cider vinegar has lots of benefits for your lady parts as well as so many others in terms of our human bodies. Perhaps you could give this a try & update me later, bc I swear by it. Plus it makes it tighter 😅. Do your research girly.
douching is not good for your vaginal health, it could be making the problem worse. the vagina cleans itself. You only need to clean the vulva with warm water and fragrance free soap.

Idk why they saying it’s common like that’s sad ….. I’ve never EVER had that like EVER….. I always take fact into what I’m eating, doing, using to cleanse etc. I’m like OCD when it comes to hygiene. Perhaps, apple cider vinegar bath w warm water may help. This is a occasional thing that I do to control my ph balance and make sure I am healthy.
