Reflections Remastered | Virginia Water | Nick Helleur | A Carp Fishing Documentary

- The country’s busiest park lake is probably the last place you’d expect to see Nick Helleur. By his own admission, Nick seeks the lesser trodden paths through life. However, throw into the mix a couple of incredibly old carp, in a huge sheet of underfished water, less than half a mile from his house and the prospect becomes hard to ignore!
Virginia Water, part of Windsor Great Park, is one of the largest of its kind, and having been stocked with carp while Nick was knee high to a grasshopper, the potential for something truly magical was a very real possibility. Having first visited the park as a child, Nick knew there were carp present and if some of those fish had survived to present day, they could be something to behold. The draw to take on the mighty challenge became overwhelming, and he simply had to find out for himself.
We followed Nick every step of the way and documented his journey which turned out to be just what he needed, having struggled to be enthused by UK carp fishing since his Thames campaign. We hope you enjoy Nick’s story, as well as the incredible visuals compiled over the course of nearly two years.

One of the best storytellers in the game!
Nicks simplicity is quite refreshing and confidence boosting to be honest.
I do not know if this is a popular opinion or not, but I’d say Nick’s videos are up there as one of the best and only rivalled by one other well known anglers. He is articulate, passionate and he doesn’t dress anything up. Brilliant to watch and listen to.
Nicks pursuit off the carp is of the scale ⚖ he is relentless in trying to get a bite ,ive not met many anglers in my lifetime like him ,we could all learn something from him 👌
Absolutely amazing to watch. Nick starts telling a story & that's it, you can't stop watching. One of very few people who have you hooked after 10 seconds. May he do many more. Priceless.
This is the benchmark for carp fishing films. No one else, or nothing else comes close. There aren’t enough superlatives for the creativity here….Well done boys and girls, a majestic film…Obviously the narration and the carp help, so well done Nick too 😂😂👌😍🎣
Breathe of fresh air in carp fishing, great campaign nick
Watched so many english fishing films, but this is the place I want to see!!!
Quick browse of the comments (before watching) and surprisingly not too many grown men crying. Refreshing!
Amazing fishing video. The love, passion and the shear and unadulterated enjoyment is envious. You are not just a lucky angler Nick-your hard work (water craft, info gathering, scouting for fish/shows etc) and amazing and infectious story telling is something up there with the very best( the best on my books)! Amazing video and throughly enjoyed it all. Very well done to an amazing campaign and video. Great angling!!!
Man this is an amazing film! And my god, can that bloke tell a story!
Some of u need to get out of their arses 🤣 . Carp anglers of today joke !
Another blinder, you only need a couple of films like these a year to remind yourself why you do it, why you've done it for over 35 years and still want more!
A slice of heaven told by one of the best story tellers in the game..
Great watch! Makes me proud of our beautiful countryside! This is the stuff of our childhood dreams, back in the 80's when the waters you fished felt magical and full of mystery, before the science/technology and business of carp fishing took over. x
Amazing , I can almost smell the rhododendrons , outa the park as usual Nick . Best of luck brother . Old school legend ☝️
Cant help but buzz off of Nicks pure enthusiasm and love for our sport. Great video #MoreOfTheSamePlease
Was a joy to watch and some stunning historic carp captures and narrated by an amazing angler and storyteller
Brilliant 👌🏻🎣
That’s an award winning film Nick, would love a campaign like that. Well done, just epic.
I worked in a hotel in Ascot and fished this lake from 1990 to 95. It was £12.50 for the season back then, we mainly fished the left arm of the lake. No barrows in them days but would use wheelie bins 😂 i caught a 19lb pike and a load of Japanese tourists looked at me in disbelief when I put it back alive 😂 a magical place with Nick and the Sticky bait team doing it justice ❤
Was the hotel the wheatsheaf?
Wow nick and the sticky film crew just raised the bar take some beating ...well done all involved
Outstanding! Nick and Terry Hearn are the reason I'm the type of carp angler I am today. I started carping in the very early 90's, and those two were just so relatable because I'm a similar age. Their little edges have caught me more carp over the years than I care to mention, and their inspiration made me always put in that extra bit of effort with my own fishing. I'm too old to have heroes, but people like Nick and Terry come pretty close.
Absolutely awesome Nick Helleur
Absolutely outstanding and inspirational piece of documenting
Beautiful film lovely to watch awesome nick 👍
What a truly inspirational watch that was.
Now that's what you call enjoying your life.
I've a water like that 5 mins drive from my house (Coombe Abbey) not the stock though that one holds but boy after watching that makes me want to start having ago on it again.
After a bad day at work after watching this makes feel so much better.
Thanks for a fantastic film....
What a fantastic film 👌👏
I think for a lot of people this video will just be one they enjoy and come back to. But for me, for whatever reason, it triggered something huge in me. I've watched all of Tel's and all of Nicks and basically everyone's videos. I love them. I sit on an oil rig in Qatar a month at a time and I dream. And then I get home and I go back to Ponds and easy lakes and I think "that's for those guys, the big fish and the big lakes, it isn't for me" and for whatever reason his video broke me out that cycle. And I went to the big lake on my ticket which can't be named (but it's up north and it's where Ali Hamidi met Frank Warwick, a big historical mere, say no more) and I walked. And walked. And I will keep looking, and keep fishing, and one day I'll have a big historical Carp in my net and it'll be because of this video. I'm 35, only started fishing in October 2019, but this feels like the real beginning. Thanks to Nick and all the guys involved in this.
Great video as always, could watch nick all day long, great angler
Spooling up my new reels drinking guinness after Sunday dinner 🍽 and now this...
Effort = reward what a brilliant film superbly made well done to all involved👍
Such a magnificent piece of water
What an honour to be able to fish there
incredible
Genuinely believe sticky have had the best content for a while now. Absolutely awesome viewing, enjoyed every minute. Congrats to nick too, the mans a true legend of the sport
Inspirational. Congrats Nick
Great angler great film, but he is so far up his own arse its unbelievable.
If he could award himself a trophy on the bank he would .
Deary me
Thoroughly enjoyable watch!
I combusted very hard whilst enjoyed this film Nick nickkkkkk
Congratulation perfect video big big respect!
Simply awesome film what a place you are and that lin💪
‘Anglers’ chewing on Nick getting a ticket, it’s common place & most try to jump the queue whether that be doing work parties whilst on the waiting list or whatever. Opportunity came & he took it, what he then did was work his nut off whilst juggling the mundane daily shit & squeezed some dangling in. No doubt the syndicate learnt a bit & the waiting list have prospered & now can’t wait for their name to rise to the top. We watched it, we liked it, he wore us out, most won’t apply Nicks philosophy to their fishing that he has/does.
Oh & we all want a ‘Bert’ don’t we……
Enjoy your journey wherever that may be
Bet you can’t wait to get the rods out now!
Never moaned about nick getting a ticket.. he's entitled to take whatever comes his way. Just a joke to publicly say "oh ye, they just gave it me" 🤣.. could have left that bit out, ya not think?
Or done same as Terry did when on wasing, he at least mentioned the waiting list even though he definitely didn't go on it
@@danielmorris3446no explanation needed Daniel as wasn’t a direct reply to your comment
Everytine i see that thames linear my heart skips a bloody beat. That carp is level with the black mirror in looks if not for the difficulty fishing the mere that linear would be number one.
Great filming! Top angling Nick. I love the Volcom jacket, got one myself 🎣🎣💪
just brilliant, i learned to swim here back in the 80s, played manhunt in those woods in the early 90s, poached it and the obelisk in the early 2000s. magical place with some beautiful old carp. there used to be rumours of a dog eating pike in there when we used to swim in it, sure they called him george? oh yeah and keep your eye out for herne the resident ghost 😄
Always preferred the obelisk lake on a warm day they were always up the shallow bridge end
i only ever got to wet a line in the early hours mate, crouched in the undergrowth usually an hour or 2 before sunrise when the wardens were not about@@2bsure407
Enjoyed this video he really puts in the effort and get what putting in the effort gets you ..good angler's are few and far between....top fishing 🎣 lovely carp everyone of them ❤
Wow what a season Nick and what a story. The ending of all endings and to be on the 18th October 🤯. Got to hand it to the camera guy to some of them morings and evenings shots from the drone bloody hell is there anywhere like it around 👌 the beauty of them woods. Nature at its finest..
Amazing pffff thank you for this video
Awesome 👊💥
Sticky and esp leading the way in the stories of fishing that was outstanding watch and what a piece of heaven that place is, great job look forward to the nxt one
...and free as well!! Unlike rip-offgraphy!!
nice to see him settled down for once hahahaha
So wish this content was available every week absolutely brilliant forget korda .. fox.. on all there commercial shite this is it
what relevance does building his own house have? keeps mentioning it
Well Nick what a poignant moment and memory in your carp fishing career, bloody well done, luv, luv, the way you conduct and tell the story as the events happen, and as for the negative comments, fuck them it is what it is 👍
Burts on that rod quicker than nick 😂😂😂😂great watch and a lovely place that 👏🏻👏🏻put together well
I had a look around Virginia Water some 50 years ago. No way was I going to fish it, too big and too far away. Nick deserves his success on a monster of a water.
😂😂😂 the amount rubbish this guy talks, cringe, this story sooooo fake, how anyone would thinks the story real. The kid story soo funny, I don’t know what’s in there, yeah you do, you said other people fish it, 🤦 and you know the bailiff. Making out some virgin water, you even said if you can get swim, that mean people fishing it, then said original carp. How do you know that.!!! Waste of time,
Why dont you stick to trying to make 'good' fishing videos instead of trying to slate others? You clearly didnt watch the film properly as he explains there was 110 stockies introduced and its pretty obvious which ones are new and which ones arent, i suppose you wouldn't know the difference since you spend your days catching pasties and goldfish 🤷
nice fish, defo not worth the syndicate price though, had a tkt when it was 50/60 quid for both lakes only a few years back, always been rumours about uncaught 50s in the big lake for years.
Not bad if you’ve got the time to put into it. It’s only £20 a week, that’s the same price as 24 hours on any noddy water up and down the country with muppets casting over your lines and smoking weed and drinking Stellas
Was on this place in 2018. Was only 50 of us at the time. Great lake. The people dog walking ruined it for me. Was surprisigly easy to find them providing you could be bothered to hike round lol. Obelisk was good fun too
Nick did you bump into Nathan stomp on this lake by any chance. He does a good few sessions on there. good guy and has a youtube channel to.?
😂 thanks mate! Only saw Nick once when biking past but didn’t see many anglers down there. Brilliant video. Unfortunately the green eyed monster lives on! Fair play Nick lovely linear and 1 I would have loved to catch.👍🏻🍻
Big bait company, big production, all told by a well known angler. Didn't disappoint. Mega film, well done Nick.
I used to fish that years ago for the big pike in there on the park ticket before it became a expensive syndicate water, great lake to fish and had some clonking pike from up by the bridge. 🎣🎣🎣
I fished it as a kid with my dad on the wheatsheaf end....just pay the warden cheap as chips.
Stuffed full of big bream, tench and roach
Hats off to you Nick, you kept me glued to that film which is very rare for me these days, loved every minute, superb work mate 🤜🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a epic video and story of a epic venue. I had a ticket for 3years and had the best carp fishing in a long time. And honestly if i was on the waiting list and knew Nick got a touch it really wouldn't of bothered me at all 🎣🎣🎣
Fished it 40 years ago, brilliant water big pike big eels etc, no bikes though used to get chased by the wardens in their green metros. Night fished dodging the wardens, have you met Hern the Hunter the park ghost. Loved it brought back so many memories
Another great adventure with nick and Bert , stunning film work and storyline. With bonus captures of estate lake carp and few old warriors ,
Awesome Film! I love the way Nick tell his stories. Up there with my favourites. 👌
That was absolutely top draw stuff, thank you for sharing your experience Nick and wow the editing was incredible 👌🎣
Wow, this was an amazing film from start to finish, I so enjoyed this.
Well done Nick. 💯👌🙏
Im fishing a place very similar to this and with a bike and trailer. Love his story telling.
Awesome Nick and to all involved Superb film 👏👏👏🔥🔥
Absolutely spellbinding. Start to finish. Absolutely next level film making. Setting the bar high once again. And headed up by the best angler in uk today full stop
This is exactly what I am doing, just bought a bike trailer and I'm waiting for the river season to start and I will be having a summer and autumn mega session on the Thames, only stopping for supplies 😊😊😊
Great vid as always 👌but nicks probably best in small doses 😂
Amo vedere alcuni filmati di questo sito, in particolare quelli con Nick Helleur. C'è passione e poesia.
Bloody AWESOME!!! Love this 🙌
Big head
Fair play keep searching mate
😂 bet the lads who been waiting years and years for a ticket are well happy he just got given one out the blue...
That’s like saying lads been waiting years and years to get scouted and someone gets scouted by a premier league team. It is what it is. Nick has dedicated and gave so much to fishing obviously his going to be rewarded for it in ways like this. Can you imagine the advertisement the lake gets from a piece like this.
@@GoneFishingVlogthat’s the worst analogy I think I have ever heard 😂
@@dscho5626 it wasn’t the best but I understood me 😂 the point is the point. If you’ve done what nicks done you get and you deserve the perks
@@FrigginMossies nicks just as good if not better more versatile angler.
@@GoneFishingVlogwhat in the living fuck are you talking about 😂
That shot of you in front of those violet rhododendrons with the common was just an incredible image . . Beautiful. Stunning!
Ace video, Nick and Stick(y).
Awesome. Thanks!
Pete 🏴
Love Nick's films, fucking awesome watch, by far my favourite angler, always has been, even when I was 16 reading his articles in the mags back in 2001, tip my cap good sir
Congratulations on your dream carp fishing lake Nick have them while the carp are there I hope you enjoy your time on the lake you are experiencing something very special in carp fishing . I wish you all the very best on your journey from Mr Ben Golby
Watched this 3 times now 😢 amazing this art the craft the beauty of what we loved is slowly creeping away , live on these true stories it's what made my fishing in the 80,s mate hope we all still keep our style passion and grace to this passion the way it should be and stay top angling mate , Lol might watch it again , good luck in your next adventure..
Simply superb!
With Terry and Nick, Sticky have the two best story tellers in angling! Might even make me buy a bag of Krill Active!😂
Another top class production from sticky. And also love to watch nick do his own thing, luck is a part of the game but nick is a great and talented angler. The lake looks beautiful and the fishing he experienced was amazing and not what I expected. But top notch performance and quality angling from nick and the sticky boys
Great film again from sticky baits. Thanks guys & big thanks to Nick for making it. Always fancied there, but wasn't any fishing when I lived in Surrey.
What an amazing story Nick
Stunning photo work and what a way to end .... true carp fishing in its raw ,basic beauty....well done 👏🏻👏🏻
Awesome story. Awesome fishing. Awesome angler. Nice one Nick
This lake is near me, I’ve walked round it so many times, looking for fish. I understand that I might never fish this lake but this video shows skill and determination to do well and put in the effort of the time you have available and the rewards will come. Loved this so much!
Really nice watch wot an amazing place and brilliantly told by Nick and to top it off on 18th October you couldn’t write it could you enjoyed that well done guys 🙌🏻
What a fantastic video mate. I’ve walked that lake regularly for 43 years and can honestly say I’ve never seen an angler there. Didn’t even know you could fish it.
Can someone tell me what an oily cod ball is please? 😂 Oiled up Krill Active ag a guess...
we are not carpy enough to know
An absolutely inspiring film, showing the beauty of the passion of carpfishing. A great adventure with a wonderful ending.
Nick , that was without a doubt your best film ever. Really enjoyed your epic journey pursuing that magnificent old fish . Congratulations and may our passion for carp never die . Well done .
Exactly how me and my friend get about bikes and bike trailers cant beat riding past the barrow boys they give u all the dirty looks as if to say dont u dare jump in ny swim 😂 😂
Mega - I’m always over there walking my dog - truly nick incredible film that
Beautifully put together amazing place heavenly and again nick proving how amazing are lovely sport is felt ever emotion with you mate and what an end result please god tell me there are still waters like that somewhere out there 👍👍👍
Great film, they aren't muntjac deer in the film though, mostly Roe, minor point.
Why have they sat nick in an empty warehouse room on a single chair 😂 like he’s about to be waterboarded by the spitnaz for his bait tips
Nick is one of the best at catching and telling a story too 🙌🏻👌🏻👏🏻! Brilliant
Great watch what a amazing looking lake carp anglers dream lake . How big was the last one and what a carp 👍👌🎣🐟
