Nice collection and setup man super clean! On my rc channel I never trimmed my defender since tracxas already opened the fenders so wide 😂 love you footsge man once again super clean setup!
Hi, and thank you. I like to keep things nice and tight. What's your rc channel? I'd love to see your truck. It's amazing what you can do with these Lil guys. Thanks again. I appreciate the comments.
15:50 interesting point about the front axle and the up and down motion, but when you are rock climbing, I would think you would want a different portion of the tire to be in contact with the rock just slightly behind the center bottom of the tire. I would suspect maybe 15° back since the front of the truck would be pointing up the incline so the traction point should be more towards a 45° angle maybe not that extreme but the kind of illustrate my point. You've clearly given this a lot of thought and that's what makes this hobby so great is learning about different viewpoints.
Hi, and Thank you. Thats a great question. I don't know the answer. If it hurt, i haven't noticed it yet. When I made that adjustment, i was looking to solve a problem. I was braking a front driveshaft on a daily. a couple thing's happened. Not only did it improve pinion angles, but it moved the yokes up and out of the way. that took some strain out of the drive line at full extension. I wasn't braking front drive shafts anymore. something else unexpected happened with the caster blocks. They moved closer to 90° not exactly but close. I wondered was that going to hurt. You know, for every action is a reaction. the only thing I noticed was how smooth it turned from left to right. You can see it. Watch your rig from straight on and turn left and right. Do it slow and then do it fast. Then make the adjustments and repeat. Better yet, if you have two rigs, do it side by side. You can see the improvement. Nothing moves but the steering components. Before the adjustments my bumpers moved up and down my shocks even layed over the whole rig moved around. It was harder to turn. So with all that being said, I haven't noticed any drawbacks or lack of climbing abilities. But I'll be honest my Defenders are not rock crawler worthy. They are heavy and unbalanced and do not like angels over 50° I trail these dudes. You can see them work. the mods I have done have helped improve these lunkers but could possibly hurt a true rock crawler build. I would certainly try it. It's free. You can always go back. Justa twist of the wrist.
@@usssoupership I'm not rock crawler either. My intent is to get my lazy butt off the couch and go for a walk with my spouse and I think these are priced right to do that. Maybe she'll even join in and rive one as well! :)
The defenders are totally awesome - I would absolutely use it as a wallpaper if you have a nice photo of them 3! I've been researching recently between these, incl. Bronco body and the FMS K5 fcx24s... your vid has more or less helped me decide on my first mini crawler! Subscribed!!!

@@usssoupership wish the best success on your channel. One thing I’m so grateful in your content is offering the hobby and new starters the how to, where, what and how. It’s aspiring, educational and great to see cool rigs. I wish we have those trial scenarios in the UK lol right-time to become a Traxxas fanboy, contrary to common consensus on the brand!!!!
@annex-rc Thank you, thank you. Much appreciated comments. The good thing about these size crawlers is that everything is a trail with obstacles. I know Traxxas has its flaws, but don't let that get in your way. We are in it for the fun, not the hassle.
Learnin' with you.. Question... towards the end, You said it was better to keep the wheels closer to the hub on the trx4m. Was that referring to having the washer inside the hex instead of outside on the axle?
Hello, and thank you for your time. Yes, i am referring to the washer. But there are a couple of reasons. One is the wheel directly fixed on the hex is best. anything between them could cause some wobble and wear. The other reason is i didn't want the wheels to far out and away from the rig. because the wider they extend out, the more they rubbed on the body. That really depends on the wheels and size tires you use. I'm using the 64mm swamp king tires from little guy racing. With mofo rc wheels and zero offset hubs. I hope this helps. Thank you for the visit and commenting. Have a great day.
Hi Mike, i bet them shocks are nice. Are they with coil springs? I have stock shocks and springs. They are at full ride height. Another option is a forced drop. It eliminates 90% of the torque twist. At the end of my last video. Are a couple of rigs, one being a bronco. They are both on forced drops with no springs. The climb is steep and narrow. You can see the difference. Thank you for the visit and comment. Enjoy your Bronco brother.
@mikepfeifer1753 I forgot to mention rubber bands around each shock to keep it planted. The band should be just big enough to go around the shock with just a slight amount of stretch. You're welcome if it works for you. If not you can leave me a nasty gram. I will understand. lol have a good day bro.
Yes, I want one. That guy is awesome. A True competition rig building wizard. That bug can damn near climb a tree. But what I'm trying to do is keep the body on it. I love the scale aspect. And in that, figuring out how to make it perform better. I don't think I could mount that hard body on his bug chassis without defending its purpose, but wouldn't it be sick.
Hi. The bronco has the fender flares trimmed but also has a body lift and shock relocations. I will indeed make a video on the bronco or maybe try to add it into the next one with the defenders. Thank you for the request and the views. Have a great day.
Hey, while I have your attention. A local hobby shop has an open box, never driven TRX4M. Has a light kit installed, two bodies (defender and broco), battery but no charger, $120 USD. That sounds like a fantastic deal. Your thoughts?
That is a great deal. I would do it in a heartbeat. The charger is not expensive but is is traxxas only. The hobby shop should have one in stock. The bronco body and light kit are about 80 bucks together. It's a good deal.
Great video on your mods. I like how explained the mods to the flares and bumper to reduce tire rub. How did you tint your windows and where did you buy your decals? Also did you make your accessories on your roof?
Hi. Thank you for watching. I'm glad you liked the video. I tinted the windows with PS-31 smoke. Tamiya color paint. The stickers I got from Amazon. Make sure you get 1/24 scale vinyl stickers. The paper sticker are OK, but if they get wet, it's over. As for the cargo and accessories, I made some of it myself with arts and crafts materials. Some came from Amazon and Little guy racing products. Just make sure they are 1/24 scale. I ended up with a bunch of 1/10 stuff i didn't want. Thank you for the comment. I appreciate the visit. Have a good day.
Did you start off from an unpainted body for big cheese? I guess it’s not original tan color? It looks metallic. Can you elaborate briefly on the process to achieve that awesome looks?
@ridefrifjell545 HI, I'd be glad to explain. I bought an unpainted body from Traxxas. They come white. Hard plastic. I used "Tamiya Color" paint for polycarbonate. The color is "gold metallic." I can't remember the paint number. But it was the only gold metallic they offer. The paint is for clear bodies, so it dries to a no shine flat finish. I added 3 coats of "rust-oleum clear lacquer. high luster coating" to bring out the shine. No sanding . All paint is on the outside of the body except for the window tint. For that I used "Tamiya color PS-31 smoke" and went full can on it. Limo tint. In the end, I ended up with what you see. Not exactly gold. More like a big block of cheese. Thank you for watching and commenting. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Hi. NOS, nitrous oxide. More power. Lol. Just for shits and giggles. It is the stock motor and servo. The motor seems fine but the servo has broken multiple times. The traxxas metal gear servo is going on it when it breaks again. Unless I can find a good replacement.

Yes, I seen them. I'm positive they will solve some issues with fitment. But traxxas already has a proX comparable to that. In fact, the swamp king tire is a pro X with a few cosmetic differences. Are they better? I don't know. I have used the Traxxas tires, and they are much better than stock, but the bigger tires work better, and for that, you will need some clearance. I'm going to get a set of the swamp kings to go on the trailer. It's going to be sweet.
