Awesome video! Just got done with mine. The only thing I can add is if you have a SMALL pull saw or hack saw, it makes clean cuts through some of the straight cuts like butter.
@@defendercustoms Is that still possible for me to request if I'm in the UK? Sounds like you're over in the states. Is it possible to sort please? Happy to cover any shipping costs if you're happy to do the work. Where can I find you on Social Media to ask further please?
Just ran across your video and had to hit that subscribe button, good stuff brother seriously helpful, getting ready to do exactly this project and your video is spot on thanks for the share 👍👍👍👍👍👍
I should have noted in the video, it is definitely worth testing on some sheet styrene first. I try to very lightly score the plastic with the first pass (imagine trying to draw a fine line with your blade), then after that i can bare into it more. The roof is the absolute worst about it. I would rather sand 1mm of material off than cut it too short. Thanks for watching Greg.
Hey buddy, fantastic looking work and thank you for the video instruction too 😃🙏 I just made the body, she's looking nice but I was wondering what you would suggest for keying up the shiny plastic bodywork surface in preparation for painting please? Keep up the fantastic work! Your quality of craftsmanship is superb 🤌 Best wishes 🙌
Thanks for watching! Glad it could help. For painting these, I typically wash them with soap and water to clean the mold residue off (from the factory) before modifying them, than clean with alcohol before painting. I don’t usually do any prep work unless it has been previously sanded, and if i do, it’s 220 grit, working my way up to 1500, but thats only on the affected area.
Great build, can you tell something about the rims and tires? The size looks pretty scale but is the performance still sufficient? Thanks from Germany! Alex
The stock defender tires are pretty good. I prefer the more aggressive mickey Thompson tires from traxxas. The tires on the black defender in the background are proline hyraxs. They were great scale looking tires that preformed well offroad given their size.
There are six screws that hold the exo cage on from underneath. There are also several plastic tabs that need to be trimmed from inside in order to pull it apart. Don’t worry too much about breaking that part, it is pretty stout.
I just did this conversion and it looks great. I didn’t close up the back yet because I’m waiting for the 3d printed bed. I’m having an issue with the back clip. It won’t lock. Do you have any suggestions
Sounds like you’re on the right track fixing it before the bed gets to you. Send me some pictures on Facebook or instagram and we’ll see if we can get it figured out.
Hi Greg. The bed cover is .030 styrene sheet. You can source these from local hobby shops or ebay. The strips are the same way. 2mm x 3mm styrene strips. In the near future we will offer a drop in resin printed bed for these that will be a great addition also.

Thanks for showing us this! I bought the black bronco body from you recently and now that I have a spare defender, this is happening!!!
Thanks for the great video. You inspired me to make one for my son. He loves it. Not as good as good as yours, but it looks good.
So glad to hear it could help!
You're the man! I can't wait to get working on my own this week
Thanks, let me know if you have any questions!
Hi! These are epic! Sadly my cutting skills etc are not! Is your Etsy store or website still going? Website appears to be down.
Thank you! I only build these trucks by request now through social media.

Send me a message on instagram or facebook (both are under Defender Customs). I have sent a bunch of trucks overseas, happy to send another one.

Looking good my friend! Can't wait to get these drop in beds to you also so you can do some trucks with the 3d bed detail
Drop in beds you say? 👀 take my money
I am impatiently waiting on the postal service to deliver them! Super excited! Same with the fender vents!
You are a master with that cutter. Mine keeps walking on me and ends with a not so straight cut.

Thanks for watching! If you have questions along the way, let us know.
Please make a video for the bronco body you built! Love your vids and would love to do the same!
I haven’t done a bronco in a while. I may take you up on that. The broncos are a lot more bodywork, i will try to capture that on video next time.
Hello 🤗
Any High Trail bed mods like this?
Hey buddy, fantastic looking work and thank you for the video instruction too 😃🙏

@@defendercustoms Thank you for your help! 😃👊👊
Where did you get the duck bill pliers? Are the tips smooth or serrated? I like the video, truck looks great.
That is a pair of Snap On pliers i got used at a yard sale years ago. The inside tips are serrated.
Thanks for watching!
You could try alcohol to remove the writing on the heat shrink
I recently ordered a roll off amazon that didn’t have writing instead. Much easier. Thanks for watching.
Are any of these for sale?
Where did you get the bedcover from?
That is styrene sheet. .040” it can be bought at most hobby stores.
I don’t see the body kits on your Etsy site.
I am making the kits and finished trucks by request only
Great build, can you tell something about the rims and tires? The size looks pretty scale but is the performance still sufficient? Thanks from Germany! Alex

Does the role cage pop off easy? I'm New to this and don't wanna break it off.

What do you starting cut first on the trx-4m defender body or the roof ??
Always the body. Than you can line your roof up afterwards.

I hit it with a blow dryer. A little better but still off

Were do u get the body
@@DomenicRusso i make or convert all of the rc bodies i post
Could u chop the top on these
You would have to put an interior in it, but yes. There has been a couple people online that have done safari type defenders that are pretty cool.
@@defendercustoms im just trying to get some of the top weight down. Ty for the information and great how to video on making the truck bed
You could do a two door custom. I have some posted on my facebook page.
OK, where do you find the bed cover and strips from?
Hi Greg. The bed cover is .030 styrene sheet. You can source these from local hobby shops or ebay. The strips are the same way. 2mm x 3mm styrene strips.

Hi don't suppose you sell them ?
By special request. You can contact me on etsy or social media for pricing.
You could sell these and make decent money
Or do you already sell them?
There is a link to my Etsy shop on my channel. Thanks for watching!
Can i just pay you to do mine lol
Excellent video.!
Thank you so much for showing us.
