    It would be easy, even for a weak & lazy man, to dump a body down a vertical mine shaft, then use an impact tool to loosen surface dirt around the collar to bury it at the bottom. I hope that D Sparks crew will find her remains, as they're now searching. It's incredible how many cold cases of missing people are now being solved by amateur groups like Adventures With A Purpose.

      IF you follow the complete podcasts , there is an old quarry near was towards Wendover , well at Clive on the road going to Nevada. It is known that Josh visited that site in his van when it was radio tagged, as per podcasts. It seems likely a body was dumped there in the cold and snow and then later picked up by Josh in the rental car he got from the airport after is police interview (they had not released his van at this time). Josh then perhaps visits this site and he's very anxious and he puts the body in a plastic bag and drives it somewhere about 400 m or 640 km from Utah airport - that 's the complete trip including the quarry diversion. His cell phone was either off or destroyed at this time. My guess is he got somewhere near Boise Idaho (Idaho has no death penalty and if the body is found - try proving that the murder did not occur in Idaho). He may have met up with Michael.
      There were no forensics for the Hertz rental as it had already been cleaned for hiring and in fact had done a second hiring by the time police caught up with it.
      JP went to a lot of trouble to set up red herrings re Ely and that area via internet searches; it seems highly likely therefore that no body , clothing or anything else will be found in that direction.

      @@F_Tim1961 he could of done anything to dispose of her body the second time. And I firmly believe he moved the body, and I hope they at least checked the geo area just in case. I really wish they would find her body but if they ever did her body would be so badly decomposed and deteriorated there would be no way to find how how she died.
      What’s worse is he could of used the torch device to completely destroy most of her remains. The smaller the remains the harder to find the body.
      Josh was crazy, he refused to even let her body go. If only they had arrested him and had him do a bargain to let them find the body and wouldn’t charge him with the death penalty

    • @F_Tim1961
      @F_Tim1961 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is the short version - keybd trouble stole the longer one so I did this on a copy of Notepad.
      Burning body in garage with Oxy torch. Not posssible It would smell horrible in am. Investigating police would pick up on it.
      Dave Cawley did some experiments on a Ytube episode.
      Outcome. It was likely a battery driven impact Driver that
      was found all burned up in the bag under the truck seat.
      Samarium from a magnet was found Two copper wires were found.
      This is consistent with the driver Cawley bought in a hardware store
      and burned up with a similar torch on video.
      The implication is that JP used it to kill Susan in some way
      and he wanted it to disappear completely. I'd guess she was laid low
      by muscle relaxant at the time - the prescription material he had.
      JP seems to have taken the rental car (at a guess) out to the quarry site
      and the as far north as Boise Idaho. He replaced his mobile phone in SL city on the way back - right at the end of the trip. Police presumably never found cell tower data for the old phone . Did Michael meet him in Idaho - no way to say. Idaho is on the route to Seattle - it would all make sense.
      If I had to hazard a guess I'd say that the body might have been shackeled in snow chains and dropped into a lake within walking distance of a road. it was cold at that time of year. It would make sense - the ground was hard and Josh might have thought buying a shovel or a mattock would have drawn attention to himself (cash purchase would be less of an issue ).
      Why would Micheal have a perfectly good Taurus crushed if there was really nothing much wrong with it ? I think the gearbox issue was just phony. The tow was to prove that the car could not be driven. The superficial answer is that there was DNA in it that should not have been. But then the police investigation of the recovered car showed nothing. Michael may simply not have trusted Josh and wanted the car destroyed in case JP tried to frame him. Josh could easily retain some clean up rag and smear the boot/ trunk with it in order to have a fall guy to take with him - or to keep MP shut up. MP was willing to pay a lot of money to a Satellite imaging company to see if that car was gone- crushed or still a liability to him. Another option is that MP removed using his car, cleaning material that Josh had used and then had hidden in the house or garage or perhaps in the snow out back . He might have been concerned they were not bagged securely or there was DnA on the outside of the bag. All guesses on my part.
      Why did MP kill himself ? The fake army officer working for the SL police suggested his project funding might be pulled according to Dave Cawley. MP might have assumed they were closing in on his involvement or he might have seen some nasty stuff along with Josh and it was giving him nightmares. Or it may be that the police sniffing around told him this case was going to follow him forever and he snapped.
      Two suicides, Three murders two of children, no court case. Steve Powell going to court for other matters. It's horrible stuff.
      Josh would never do a deal as you suggest. He knew that police had to look through thousands of square km of land to find something. He had all the cards as long as he stayed quiet about the body.

      The lack of subs is truly shocking to me. It seems people want their "bitesize" true crime stories. Honestly, Ive been on some podcasts who put in similar work and people are actually COMPLAINING that its too long and the detail boring. I think it is a certain type of person who, like me, might have been a detective or forensic psychologist if life had been a bit different.
      To me, the opportunity to learn about human behaviour in these cases is what keeps me interested. I'm not into gore or shock, I just want to learn about why these people do what they do, and how they behave during and afterwards.

    Did they search in the same type of weather as the time she went missing? AND taking into consideration, the time, the kids, and the motivation of Josh? I would think that would seriously cut the types of places she could be. Also, toss a similar size of item (no disrespect intended to Susan at all), that Susan was, into the mines to see if that item would have been dropped in that particular area?

    I wonder if the boys were talking about the geo bed area of when she disappeared because one if them said "she stayed with the flowers and crystals" - which in this video sounds like a location that matches that with the Crystals. Maybe there's a chance we could still find a lead there.

    • @humankaleidoscope4989
      @humankaleidoscope4989 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yeah that's the theory. But they've searched the area several times. The problem is 1) the boys could be merging 2 separate events or locations in their mind due to trauma and being so young, and 2) all the possible areas where he could've put the body are extremely difficult to search. Some parts of these areas, like many mine shafts, are effectively impossible to search.

      Jaclyn Lessard Right?! I live in an area with a whole lot of extremely harsh, undeveloped, uninhabited desert wilderness, and many of the smaller, less well-traveled roads can be *extremely* rough...especially during certain times of the year. The idea of attempting some of these with an aging minivan is both ridiculously laughable and incredibly dangerous!
      The fact that Josh was such an ignorant, arrogant know-it-all that he actually risked this with his wife and very young kids in the car only reinforces to me that he was truly a dangerously foolish and callous person.
      (FWIW, learning about the Death Valley German incident made me even *more* paranoid than I already was about the possibility of getting stranded in the remote desert! And it's not just me; my whole family started keeping supplies of water and basic survival gear in the trunk.)

      I agree, Charley saying flowers and crystals seemed to be linked more to the trip in March not during the winter. Josh kept giving out hints about where he would take a body. (He did take the torch so he could have put her in a place he had to cut open. Maybe an old cemetery tomb) I thought Charley was talking about a cave of some kind. I also don't think Josh was that smart, had some mental issues but I do believe he gave clues. The searchers should be given a lot of praise for all the work they did to find Susan.

It’s no farther than an hour from South Hill where the Powell’s and Cox’s were based. It’s very popular yet still in a very isolated part of the Cascade Mountain Range - if this is what Steve was referring to, this raised a a LOT of questions.

      Kar Robins It makes me wonder, if Michael was in Puyallup at the time of Susan’s disappearance, maybe during the 18 hours Josh went missing after renting a car from SLC International Airport, maybe they moved Susan to THAT mountain or at least somewhere in the wilderness in Washington State. Somewhere where they could all check that nothing was disturbed and far away from the searches taking place in Utah, Idaho, Nevada, etc. Granted, this could have been a one off comment from Steve, however, being from the same area as Steve, I know for a fact via personal account they Steve often hiked in that area of the Cascade Mountain Range. It just begs the question - Why did he mention Rattlesnake Rock (ledge) and why did law enforcement not realize that he could have potentially referencing one of the most popular hikes in Washington State?

    I’m totally amazed at the details heard on these COLD episodes on Susan Powell disappearance I salute their efforts. I feel so sorry for Susan’s parents. There is no closure for them. No matter how horrible what happened to Shanann Watts, at least her body was found. I hope they find Suzanne Morphew’s body. Josh Powell’s family is very dysfunctional to say the least. Except for Jennifer, they can just vanish from face of the earth.

    The idea of dumping her or burying her where there was homes being built is so plausible! Remember they found drywall or something like it in that compartment in floor behind driver seat in the van. They also found the melted metal. Could it have been a lock?

    I have to say I was talking some serious shit about the police department bc of previous fuck ups. Hearing this episode has changed my opinion. Ppl don't realize how much time it takes to get everything legal otherwise he could get by with his crime. These officer's did what they could to get him and bring him to justice. Others are faulting them for the children's death, that's not something I thought bc it's ludicrous. The only one responsible for that is Josh and I'm sure Hell has had him a spot reserved for awhile. Direct the hate and anger in his direction not the police.

    Didn’t he have a saw in his van? I think he cut her up and put her different pieces different places and maybe even burned the parts before. He was confident no one would find her body.

    Wait. The dogs started to dig up a tarp like material. But there is a record of the police going out but not finding anything? He also dug out there but found nothing? If they were all in the same place as the dog would they not have found the tarp.like material?

    • @savvvyylicious
      @savvvyylicious 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I never comment on youtube but this really angered me. they were too afraid/ "afraid of what they might have found" to find out what was under that tarp like material even AFTER THAT MUCH TIME AND EFFORT ON SEARCHING FOR SUSAN?!!? That just sounded like a waste of time. It could've been her! Why would they just leave, and left it to the police when THEY WERE RIGHT THERE, they could've made sure. IT MAKES NO SENSE

    I watch true crime shows all the time. I know the shows were created for more people besides me!! This podcast is so detailed. It's awesome Why in the world would Josh want to even be around his father? He knew he was a pervert! He was so manipulated by his father. I think her death was put in Joshs mind by his father. I guess his mind and backbone were too weak to go against his dad.

    Really Josh could have taken the kids anywhere and told them they were at dinosaur national park. He seems like the type that would have planned a whole story and repeatedly said it to them all the way home. I do think maybe they saw him put something in a hole and put rocks and vegetation over it because of the bear story charlie told. Maybe he told them it was a bear that he put in the hole.

    • @pinkpugginz
      @pinkpugginz 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree. He repeated so much junk to the kids they parroted it out. Specifically Charlie at school.
      I'm surprised Josh didn't drug the kids with Benadryl and leave them home or passed out on the back.
      Also why didn't he take her purse and stuff? Or a pair of clothes.
      I guess he pulled a Chris Watts and thought he would have more time to dispose of evidence.

I would still have watched the whole thing. You should try to sell this to Netflix for a limited docuseries like Tiger King or whatever. That terror she would be facing i can hardly breathe in thinking about that kind of evil. I worry too because of that eye witness at the flying j gas station who described all of them there. Did Josh make this pit stop then return to the house kill her load her body in trunk and take off camping with the boys to burn or bury her in some mine??? Chills what a psychopath 😫😫😫😫😫🤯🤯🤯🤯🤮🤮💔💔💔💔

      Some people have speculated Josh eventually gave up Susan’s body to Steve for “safe keeping”, it’s frustrating that Josh has kept Susan hidden in death as he did in her life.
      The search feels like it’s an effort to reclaim Susan from Her monstrous husband
      Steve and the other brother HAVE to know something. Or they did before they died
