Subara WRX STI TGV Delete - Disabling Codes

  • I took the first step towards removing the pesky tumble generator valves in my '04 WRX STI, deleting the associated codes in the ECU. The TGVs are butterflies in the intake tract that are used for idle emissions. One of mine is faulty and they cause a restriction in airflow, so I say goodbye to them.

Thanks for the video. Worked like a charm and was able to remove a code and force emissions ready.

Hey did you just individually disable the codes (one at a time in ECU flash)? I can read my rom in ECU flash but there's no "force pass" option, just able to disable individual codes. I hope that's enough to force emissions ready for inspection.

Thanks allot for this video, very helpful. I purchased the cable to remove secondary air pump code and you help me to prepare better for what I had to do with Tractrix wire, software, etc. Works like a charm. I did not remove any parts, the solenoid stuck closed, I did not bother to do the delete mode, too much work, may be one day if I have to pull my engine out, I'll remove the whole sec air pump system. My car is 2006 WRX TR with 117K miles.

did doing this allow you to pass obd2 emissions? im having the same problem

    • @nofear6235

I was able to remove several codes ( the original one and subsequent that came after, all linked to the secondary air pump) using this cable. My inspection due next year , but I assume I should pass because I dont see any stored or pending codes on my OBD II reader.
Tactrix is good thing, once you got it, it will come with all instructions how it works, also if you have any following questions after purchase Tactrix guys ( I deal with Mike) are very helpful and easy to deal with.
I paid around $200 for this thing and I think its well spent $$$$.
Fixed these pesky codes and freed up my mind.
Check if you need an adapter, earlier WRX models required to be able to connect Tactrix to the OBD Ii port.
Good luck and I hope it helps.

@@iswearnotme I have SAIS codes but if you clear them with a code scanner they won’t appear unless the engine coolant temp drops below 60° F. Go for a drive, clear the code, get tested and you’re good. Then you can worry about clearing them otherwise

In case anyone does this for TGV deletes, right above the diagnostic code folder there is a folder where you can do all the TGV related codes in one click. If should save you some time.

I know this video was posted a long time ago. I'm hoping the author of this video, EternalTinkerer will help me, please. I have a 2007 Outback XT. I swapped out EJ25 engines & a new Turbo. I performed the TGV delete and after the fact realized the Solenoids (The Servo's) are more sensitive than I was hoping they'd be by the ECU throwing the Generic P2006 & P2007 codes ! if the Solenoids weren't so sensitive & could read how many revolutions the tiny gear (That's inside the Solenoid) that turns the butterfly-shafts gear, then the ECU wouldn't know that the butterfly shafts & gear were missing ! At any rate, I now have these TGV delete codes to deal with. So, my question to you is, how the heck do I get in touch w/the guys at TACTRIX !? I've been calling & calling them & no one is answering ! Also, will this same TACTRIX set-up you're using work w/my 2007 Outback XT !? I spoke to COBB, and they told me that their Access-Port will NOT WORK on my 2007 Outback XT once I remove these TGV Delete codes using the TACTRIX Software. And lastly, I'm learning all about this Flash-tuning & Open-source tuning. My last question to you is......if I use this TACTRIX software & cable & uninstall these Codes, will that be compatible w/an Open-Source tune if I want one of our local Tuners to tune my Outback on his Dyno !? Its the type of Dyno that attaches to the hub of the wheel(s). I hope you can answer my questions Sir. It sure would be an enormous amount of HELP. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH !

What year car is it? What program are you using to modify/flash? Are you using an openport 2.0? If you unchecked the TGV related codes and flashed the map, it should be done. Maybe you have a CEL for another issue? 🤔 Romraider is a good resource for older WRXs, but you need to search rather than post questions, just like most forums nowadays.

Btw if u have a ecu that isn't supported by the earlier versions of 'open ecu', ie not the drive by wire ecu's, your going to need a tactrix cable (USD $300) unfortunately, as they locked us out of the new versions of 'open ecu'...

    • @stkmltS
      @stkmltS 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, absolutely. Doing what this video shows only disables the codes, it doesn't actually change anything that your engine does. It's like telling your car not to cry even if the TGV sensors are hurting.
