  • Mountune says it best: The mountune Lower Intercooler Pipe Upgrade directly replaces the restrictive factory lower intercooler pipe, featuring a 39% increase in airflow. Easy to install, it is compatible with the mountune Ultra high-performance silicone boost hose kit or the original intercooler coupling hoses.
    Now my personal words are that it does reduce the minor amount of turbo lag the car has and power seems to be delivered in a more effortless manner. Easy to install and high quality.

    ST’s are the most underrated cars on the road. My 2013 ST3 is like getting into an amusement park ride every single time I drive her. 77K miles and she just runs great! I have had only two mishaps in 6 years. Fuel rail pump went and I swapped out the water pump because it was starting to go. That’s it. Sure I have done a handful of the usual modes but she is basically stock and that is exactly why I have not had many issues. Do modes like Gjeebs does and keep them Ford approved or high quality Mountune pieces. Gjeebs your car is done right!

    Baffles where there to quiet down the car induction noise was increased and flow but that flow isnt much without all the other pipes done as well and intercooler and an intake and exhaust all working together with a proper tune

    Funny I just added this hard pipe last week. I have the Ford Performance tune and full Mountune intake with AWE exhaust. I always felt that something was missing, like accelerating with one brake dragging. I installed the Mountune FMIC and complete hose and pipe along with the re-circ valve and all is right with the world! Keep up the great work Gjeebs!

    The charge pipes are about the last bolt-on I need to do and this video made it hard not to just buy the damn things, although I think I'm going with Mishimoto based on the ridiculous amount of R&D that went into their pipes. Thanks for the video Gjeebs, good to see you're still around my man.

    To give the Ford Engineers a little bit of credit, I think I know why those battles were there. When you drive a car with a turbo like this, it can be difficult to prevent the Turbo from being engaged when you don't want it to. If you can drive such that the turbo never spends up, you'll have a lot more fuel economy. The programmed behavior of the engine changes too when the turbo is engaged. Those baffles made it easier to drive economically.

    • @Gjeebs
      @Gjeebs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      After driving the car a little bit more I have come to the same conclusion.

    • @wendell52688
      @wendell52688 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Gjeebs welp you're both overthinking it. Ford added the baffles to keep noise levels down. Same reason they put a giant resonator and box muffler.

    Fantastic content as usual Gjeebs! You’re one of the reasons I bought my 18 ST3 a few months back. In this video I see you had the car up on jackstands. I’d love to see some content on the correct placement of these things. It’s simple enough to jack the car up using the jack points described in the manual but what are the correct locations to place jackstands? I haven’t been able to find a consensus on this.
    Oh yeah - congrats on your wedding as well!

    Hey Gjeebs, quick question. I recently purchased my Focus ST in February and right after I bought it the car would randomly flash “engine fault service now” and “hill start assist not available.” When it did this the car would bog down and my boost gauge would go all over. Felt like a misfire, I turn the car off and back on again and it works just fine for a little bit and does it again. I recently got the purge valve recall fixed on it, same thing. I don’t have any social media, so this is really the only way I can get help. Any suggestions?
