This is because back in the city days of Tom, when he was struggling to set up his business, he was scammed out of all his money and nearly starved by another character name Crazy Redd. Tom Nook only tries to establish responsibility in the player by providing you with jobs, ways to earn money, and teaching you to pay off your debts. this is confirmed by Tom himself in the previous game called "Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer" dont be mean to Tom, he has been through a lot.

As a (American) hard of hearing person, I typically don't watch people with foreign accents (because I have a hard time hearing as it is let alone adding an accent on top to decipher) but for some reason you're voice is actually really nice and easy to understand?? This is the first jacksepticeye video I've ever watched. As a (American) hard of hearing person, I typically don't watch people with foreign accents (because I have a hard time hearing as it is let alone adding an accent on top to decipher) but for some reason you're voice is actually really nice and easy to understand?? I didn't even have to turn on subtitles!! On top of it you have facial hair which can make harder to lip read but I didn't even have to lip read. Probably an unusual compliment but nice voice my man
