  • Jerry and Linda bring you yet another Villages neighborhood. Nestled on the banks of Lake Miona and just minutes from Sumter Landing, Bridgeport at Lake Miona is a quiet, tree lined village just across Buena Vista from Arnold Palmer Legends Golf Course. The premier homes and impressive landscaping make this an upscale locale. Cruise along with The Newcomers as they travel the shady streets lined with giant Live Oaks.

    Very familiar they have larger lots. However you will pay a premium and many desperately need at least 100k in updating. I looked there and at several homes in 2019 when I lived in Virginia Trace. I wanted a bigger lot. I bought in Fenney I have a .45 acre lot. A brand new home. Also remember if your younger I am 61 the people will be much older because most moved there at retirement age add 15 years to that age. Most will be late 70's and early 80's. Another point when people complain about trolls who report people for breaking yard covenants ...here's why I think trolls are great. Those rules is why all the properties in The Villages look like new exterior wise at any age. Those covenants protect your investment. Because we have those covenants all of the older parts like Bridgeport still look lovely. I Love your videos...thank you.

    Really enjoyable. We have lived in our development for 20 years. We had 4 giant oaks & removed 3, left one lakeside. The lots are too small. The acorns were everywhere, drive, sidewalk...A safety hazard for the owner & neighbors slipping on them. Also unsightly. One of our oak’s limb hit by lightening & split falling next to our neighbor’s cage. Giant oaks gave us so much shade, west facing house, but increase mildew on roof, house. Most people remove them in these developments. On the lots you showed they are appropriate. On another topic, last Easter, as I opened our garage, a large red tail hawk, wings expertly retracted, flew in after a lizard, in front of him. The hawk skidded to a halt, looked @me, then left. I rescued Larry the lizard & scooted him out. The hawk is often seen on our roofs. Jeanne

    I believe all the homes in this Village are premier homes. We bought our home in Belvedere in 2005 and one of the first things we did was put in palms and today they are magnificent. Two things we said we wanted when we moved to FLA were palm trees and a block and stucco home and we were fortunate to get both. Thanks for all you do, you make great videos. God bless and stay safe.

    A little more freedom with color choices on exterior of homes. I saw a green house that reminded me of Edward Scissorhands. Great movie. Though beautiful, the thing missing on newer homes is the charming front porch. If I do move, and my home doesn’t have a front porch, that’s one of the first things I will add. I spend many hours enjoying my front porch which welcomes many visitors. I’m out here right now. This is a lovely village subdivision, absolutely gorgeous. Those pointy trees or whatever look like our cedar trees, tall and thin. I don’t care for them. I got rid of mine. They grew extremely fast. The best thing about them was the fragrance when they were cut down.

    If you like the village of Bridgeport at Lake Miona, take a drive through Harmswood some time. It is just north of the Savanah Center and is very unique. I think you will be amazed at the variation in the house styles and the most of the lots have big mature trees. It always reminds me of living in a wooded area in the north.

    Oh, yeah. We live in Indiana and we sometimes get those wolf spiders; and another big kind that I'm not sure what it's called. Those creep me out. Now we've started to see stink bugs, definitely keeping those on the outside. About 5 years ago, you'd never see one of those; but they've made their way here.

    • @JERRYANDLINDA
      @JERRYANDLINDA  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      People don't believe me when I tell them that we saw more bugs in Indiana than we do down here. Of course in Indiana we did not treat for insects like we do here.

    Well, another nice tour, this time of the "upscale" part of the Villages! Beautiful homes. And you are right, those trees are beautiful. It is good, I think, to mix different trees in with the palm trees...makes for good landscaping. Hey, watch out for those racoons! And I am glad you do not have centipedes in Florida! At least I don't think you do. I do know there is nothing worse than a centipede with athletes foot. (Think about it!) If you look on a website like Zillow and search for Lake Miona Dr, The Villages, FL 32162 you can see all the prices.

    I don’t see as much solar as I would have thought would be installed in The Villages. Any thoughts? Is a solar roof restricted in TV?

      No. Many feel that the pay back is too long to make it justifiable.

      AGREE. My family is South Florida, and here is Roach 101. Palmettoes are big roaches with a pretty name, but often just one. IF you find German Roaches, well enjoy your adventure!

    I’m a Florida native in the Panhandle. No way would I live in such close quarters like the Villages! Can’t have outside wind chimes, Harley motorcycle or a fire pit without neighbors complaining. I’m 67 now and retired. I’m single now and. go and do what I want. I’m a woods type person and so glad I can take a short drive and get away from the town hustle and bustle. Y’all and others from up north moved down to central south Florida to live. You have that right but we still don’t like yankees moving south of the Mason Dixon Line. You won’t see southerners moving north unless it’s a have to! Yet Yankees come to visit then decide to stay. Taxes are crazy high up north, crime is sky high, can’t blame anyone wanting to escape all that.
    I’m a subscriber to your channel and I do watch every video you put out. Y’all seem very nice. Would be even nicer if all Yankees were as nice as you and Ms. Linda.
    Many many years ago I heard about the STD scare. I doubt that is a worry for anyone living in the Villages now.
    I will continue to watch your videos even though i have no desire to move to central or south Florida. I’ve been all over my state...I live in Gods country!
    Enjoy yourselves and stay safe!

    Thanks for the tour. Just wandering how a 15 year old home needs a new roof. Most premium houses use a 30 year shingle roof. But otherwise should last around 20 years.
