We moved to The Villages the end of June 2020- bought a Charlotte bungalow villa in the village of Fenney- sight unseen- via the internet. WE LOVE LOVE LOVE it here. Our only regret is we didn’t move here sooner!!!!

Wow, I am impressed, with all the knowledge you have of the villages.. You know more about the villages then people that live down there. Speed limit is 19. I have been going to the villages for at least 20 years. I have family that live down there. It is the only place I vacation. It is just fun driving around on the golf cart, swimming, shopping, it is very relaxing.

I live 8 minutes from Brownwood Paddock( but outside of TV) and my mom actually lives in the Lofts there. You actually showed her apartment 😊. We do have an amazing bakery called Miz Kathi’s Sweetery and they have a cafe that I highly recommend. But it’s not reachable by golf cart but not too far. Too bad you’re leaving Friday because the weekends at the squares are unbelievable.

You might want to check out the villages for sure because they have 3 bands playing every night of the year. One in each town square. You could always contact them and see how they go about hiring their entertainment 😊👍🏻

The cruise analogy is so correct. I felt there is so much to do you can’t do everything but have to choose. We also figure when we move there, we will have fun exploring and getting lost in the golf cart
Absolutely! We have really been looking into some kind of villa in the village of Hammock at Fenney. I have seen videos of that area and it looks really pretty but definitely more south of Brownwood. It will get built up and they have plans to add another town square down that way. So exciting!

We are coming next month & they told us $150 for both dogs - which was much cheaper & easier on us than trying to find a place to board them. (We are snowbirds in Ft Myers right now).
We stayed there, I thought 7 days would be boring so we stayed 4 days. I was so wrong, 4 days was not long enough. We stayed in the Charlotte, we plan to purchase this type of house. Can’t wait until we move there
That is too funny cause we thought the same thing and only had stayed 4 days. We are headed back there in a few weeks and are staying 3 weeks in the villages this time. We are looking at buying a place too. 😊👍🏻 I think we had stayed in a Arlington model and funny enough, that is what we are looking into to buy 🤣
Destinis where we go! It’s about a 5 hr drive from my area in Alabama to Destin. We love Destin! I love Bentley! We just recently lost our shih tzu Layla! She was 16 years old! He also lost our Pomeranian Stan and he was 16. Layla was our 3rd shih tzu. They are so sweet! We are currently looking for another doggie!
Destin was very nice but too cold for us to spend our winters in (jan-feb). We need to go more south to get that warmer weather 😊👍🏻 I am sorry to hear about your dogs passing!! Shih Tzus are a great bread. Bentley is our second and both were really good dogs for us! Good luck finding a new puppy! 😊🐶

Lol, no, we are just exploring for now. We plan on checking out different cities to see if there is a spot that we would love to just spend a month or 2 in the winters. It does not make sense for us to buy unless we found that perfect place we want to keep going back to. 😊👍🏻

Thanks for sharing such a great video!!! My husband and I are heading down next month for our 2nd lifestyle visit our 1st being last August. Although much was closed during our 1st visit we really enjoyed everything we experienced inside and outside TV. I had been doing online research about the community as a retirement relocation destination for a couple of years now and after visiting we are both pretty sure TV would be a good personal fit for us. Not ready to buy yet as I still have to retire then sell our house in R.I., but know that when the time comes we will be purchasing a new 3 BR courtyard villa in one of the new areas since we want a low maintenance house and yard along with a little privacy so these villas fit those wants for us. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Hi There! How exciting! Everything is pretty much open down there. The only thing that was still closed while we were there was the movie theatre but that opened on Friday so all should be good 😊👍🏻 We looked at some new home options in the new village area of Fenny. It seems like aways from Brownwood but they are just getting started with that area, still lots to do. Have a wonderful time down there! The weather should be perfect for you!

I absolutely love your video. I struggle to understand the difference between renting a hotel room at the loft or I believe there was another hotel and renting the house like you did with the lifestyles preview. When you rent a house with the villages in a lifestyle preview do they have sales people similar to timeshares salesman that call you every other day wanting to know what houses you want to look at? And, can you call down there every year and request a lifestyle preview? I struggle to understand how many people are renting with what expectation they have that you were going to buy down there. My wife and I are in our 60s I am retired and she retires in April 2023. It seems as though it would be a blast to rent a house as you did just to explore for the week without a timeshare salesman type person bugging us about signing contracts for a house. Did you get bothered by any sales people? And lastly, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you had said in the beginning of the video that you rented your place through Airbnb, is that correct.Thanks- David and what is going to be a frigid winter in western New York
Sorry if someone already mentioned this. There are (relatively) very few bakeries in Florida. Publix is one of the best sources for baked goods. Thanks for the tour. Btw the Latitudes Margaritaville referred to may be the community in Daytona Beach.
Hi Kathy! With the lifestyle package, they only allow a one week max but you could check on air bnb or VRBO or the villages HPM. You should be able to find a rental for a longer length of time.

We have a condo at ocean shores in WA state that is like this. We love it and have 4 weeks a yr. but we can’t bring animals. We also have access to 3 pools 2 outside and one inside, plus a gym and a few other things. Love it!
No it’s called park place, there a group of condos there named like the game board 😄 not as nice as your as there are older and ours is only a two bedroom, but other might be 3. Looks like your having a great time, sorry you have to go home in a couple of days. Thank you for sharing this adventure sure looks nice!
And these are the least expensive stick built properties in The Villages. It’s what I would buy because it’s all I need. They are also the only fenced or walled in properties as well. This is not a basic model. There are several upgrades I see, plus it’s a 3 bedroom unit. I’d buy two. It does get into the 40s in The Villages. It’s started to warm up now in February. I’m doing in depth research on Florida retirement communities and, for the money, The Villages offers the most simply because they are so huge. They collect over $10,000,000 per month in amenity fees alone. The smaller communities can’t compete, but they are also quite nice. Their amenity fees run higher, about double each month, give or take. It just depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re not a golfer or a joiner, another community may suit you better. Also, the homes in other communities tend to be a bit more attractive and a tad less expensive. You can also put your dog in the basket, but it needs a pad of some sort. I see people do that all the time. My large dog would need his own seat. I have small dogs now, but next one will likely be a standard poodle or Newfoundland. Back in July of 2020, you could be fined up to $500 if you didn’t wear a mask in designated areas. Unknown if this was rigidly enforced or not and if it was a Florida law or imposed by The Villages. I would bet the former. There are clinics and hospitals in The Villages as well, a new one either just opened or is currently under construction. All built by The Villages. I believe they have their own Medicare supplement or advantage plan, whatever you call it. That’s one thing to check into before you move to The Villages.

I recommend looking up Skip Smith The Villages ( Sue Smith) , The Villages Florida Newcomers (Jerry and Linda). They live in the Villages and have You Tube Channels. You will be able to find out answers to many of the questions that you might not get from a sales agent. They do answer questions.

We have been a bit out of the loop on all the news since we have not had the tv on a lot so I have heard a bit but certainly not what everyone is facing right now. Sounds awful!!! There have been times in MI that we have been out of power in the dead of winter also. It stinks!!
I live in Portland, OR at the moment but I was born in Detroit and grew up in Royal Oak (big Tutor home - loved!). Do you remember when MI and 7 other states had no power for about a week years ago? It was in the summer so it was hot without air conditioning, but better than winter without heat. I've also lived in Florida, Ohio, California (family joke - moving every time the rent comes due :) Hope you are loving your trip!

We lived in Milford, MI at the time and remember having to go stay at my MIL house for the week since we had no air and it was stinking hot out. Of course we lost all of our freezer and refrigerator food as well and if I remember correctly, I had just gone to the grocery store!! Big Bummer!

Before we came down here, I just watched TH-cam videos on different cities in FL to try to find some we may like to stay at. From there, I picked 3 spots to visit and then looked up air b&b's in those towns until I found the perfect one. That is how I looked at it. Next year, we will probably pick new places based on what we learned we liked and did not like about the cities we went to this year. New people you said , please be careful Florida gated communities however nice they seem ans glorious are a trap HOA’s neighborhood boards I’m telling you from experience moved from up north those neighborhoods may seem nice but is all a trap don’t be fooled ans do extensive research you’ll realize sooner than later you’ll want to move out and can’t. You can’t do anything to your Home, people will complain about the smallest things, when you have company they’ll know too, they’ll know your every move, even the stuff you buy from your garbage, please please please make sure you dint fall for a trap no matter what people say or no matter how nice and vacations it looks. Assessments will eat you out unable to move everything will complicate. Please be careful I’m talking from experience.Everyone loves everything when it’s new I’ve been thru it I sold and bought into one and I can’t tell you how many time as day I want to move out you can’t garden and all types of restrictions you think your ok with but eventually start popping up later once they know your in. Please be careful if your comming from another state I rented before buying them made the most biggest mistake to buy into something I thought was so glorious. I’m not Debbie downing just please telling you to be careful I try to warn people because I know eventually it will happend it’s just a matter of time. Proceed with caution is all I’m saying and think very hard before you take that step. Florida has a rep to stage things to be glorious.
I was just reading an article about several people who moved to the villages, but can't sell to move elsewhere or back home. One lady was saying it becomes monotonous after a few years. It definitely doesn't appeal to me, but then I like to hike and there are absolutely so hills or mountains in Florida.
I’m not sure why said person couldn’t move or sell, the houses there are only on the market for a day or two. Over 455 new and preowned homes sold just in February! The homes there have gone up in value at least 5% every year for the last 20 years! Even in a depressed economy the homes in TV increase in value. Many people in the older northern parts are selling their homes for a large profit and buying in the new southern portion because they are making so much money! So if you can’t sell there must be a problem with the house.
I don’t understand the pull of the Villages. I live in Florida and we hear some unusual things about what people do in that place. I would like to know how you felt after the end of your stay.
Hi Sandra, Well, since this video a year and a half ago, we bought our own place in the villages and I am here to tell you that after 7 months, all the rumors you hear....I have found NO evidence that any of them are true. Now, that said, If someone is a swinger, I am sure just like any city of 130,000 or more people, you can find some like minded people but we have not witnessed any of this activity or do we know anyone who participates in all of that nonsense.

IDK who told you that you can only do a Lifestyle visit once, but I was told by someone who has been there several times - though there may be a limit as to how many times you can do it in one year. I think they want you to try the lifestyle, not just use it as a nice vacation spot.
Thanks for the info Susan. We were told that by our sales rep at the villages but if you are serious about buying, they will let you come down again. You are right, they don't want people coming and doing that year after year just for their vacation.

You might want to check out the villages for sure because they have 3 bands playing every night of the year. One in each town square. You could always contact them and see how they go about hiring their entertainment 😊👍🏻

Absolutely! We have really been looking into some kind of villa in the village of Hammock at Fenney. I have seen videos of that area and it looks really pretty but definitely more south of Brownwood. It will get built up and they have plans to add another town square down that way. So exciting!

We are coming next month & they told us $150 for both dogs - which was much cheaper & easier on us than trying to find a place to board them. (We are snowbirds in Ft Myers right now).
We stayed there, I thought 7 days would be boring so we stayed 4 days. I was so wrong, 4 days was not long enough. We stayed in the Charlotte, we plan to purchase this type of house. Can’t wait until we move there
That is too funny cause we thought the same thing and only had stayed 4 days. We are headed back there in a few weeks and are staying 3 weeks in the villages this time. Destinis where we go! It’s about a 5 hr drive from my area in Alabama to Destin. We love Destin! I love Bentley! We just recently lost our shih tzu Layla! She was 16 years old! He also lost our Pomeranian Stan and he was 16. Layla was our 3rd shih tzu. They are so sweet! We are currently looking for another doggie!
Destin was very nice but too cold for us to spend our winters in (jan-feb). We need to go more south to get that warmer weather 😊👍🏻 I am sorry to hear about your dogs passing!! Shih Tzus are a great bread. Bentley is our second and both were really good dogs for us! Good luck finding a new puppy! 😊🐶

Sorry, I didn't get to watch this till today. Pipes burst in my attic and flooded my house here in Frisco TX. Power was out for days as you probably saw on the news and I am in temporary housing. Thanks for sharing such a great video!!! My husband and I are heading down next month for our 2nd lifestyle visit our 1st being last August. Although much was closed during our 1st visit we really enjoyed everything we experienced inside and outside TV. I had been doing online research about the community as a retirement relocation destination for a couple of years now and after visiting we are both pretty sure TV would be a good personal fit for us. Not ready to buy yet as I still have to retire then sell our house in R.I., but know that when the time comes we will be purchasing a new 3 BR courtyard villa in one of the new areas since we want a low maintenance house and yard along with a little privacy so these villas fit those wants for us. Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Hi There! How exciting! Everything is pretty much open down there. The only thing that was still closed while we were there was the movie theatre but that opened on Friday so all should be good 😊👍🏻 We looked at some new home options in the new village area of Fenny. It seems like aways from Brownwood but they are just getting started with that area, still lots to do. Have a wonderful time down there! The weather should be perfect for you!

I absolutely love your video. I struggle to understand the difference between renting a hotel room at the loft or I believe there was another hotel and renting the house like you did with the lifestyles preview. When you rent a house with the villages in a lifestyle preview do they have sales people similar to timeshares salesman that call you every other day wanting to know what houses you want to look at? And, can you call down there every year and request a lifestyle preview? I struggle to understand how many people are renting with what expectation they have that you were going to buy down there. My wife and I are in our 60s I am retired and she retires in April 2023. It seems as though it would be a blast to rent a house as you did just to explore for the week without a timeshare salesman type person bugging us about signing contracts for a house. Did you get bothered by any sales people? And lastly, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe you had said in the beginning of the video that you rented your place through Airbnb, is that correct.Thanks- David and what is going to be a frigid winter in western New York

Great information about the lifestyle visits at The Villages. IS IT POSSIBLE TO RENT A HOME FOR TWO MONTHS AND WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE TO FIND A RENTAL?
Hi Kathy! With the lifestyle package, they only allow a one week max but you could check on air bnb or VRBO or the villages HPM. You should be able to find a rental for a longer length of time.

We have a condo at ocean shores in WA state that is like this. We love it and have 4 weeks a yr. but we can’t bring animals. We also have access to 3 pools 2 outside and one inside, plus a gym and a few other things. Love it!

No it’s called park place, there a group of condos there named like the game board 😄 not as nice as your as there are older and ours is only a two bedroom, but other might be 3.

And these are the least expensive stick built properties in The Villages. It’s what I would buy because it’s all I need. They are also the only fenced or walled in properties as well. This is not a basic model. There are several upgrades I see, plus it’s a 3 bedroom unit. I’d buy two. It does get into the 40s in The Villages. It’s started to warm up now in February. I’m doing in depth research on Florida retirement communities and, for the money, The Villages offers the most simply because they are so huge. They collect over $10,000,000 per month in amenity fees alone. The smaller communities can’t compete, but they are also quite nice. Their amenity fees run higher, about double each month, give or take. It just depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re not a golfer or a joiner, another community may suit you better. Also, the homes in other communities tend to be a bit more attractive and a tad less expensive. You can also put your dog in the basket, but it needs a pad of some sort. I see people do that all the time. My large dog would need his own seat. I have small dogs now, but next one will likely be a standard poodle or Newfoundland. Back in July of 2020, you could be fined up to $500 if you didn’t wear a mask in designated areas. Unknown if this was rigidly enforced or not and if it was a Florida law or imposed by The Villages. I would bet the former. There are clinics and hospitals in The Villages as well, a new one either just opened or is currently under construction. All built by The Villages. I believe they have their own Medicare supplement or advantage plan, whatever you call it. That’s one thing to check into before you move to The Villages.

I recommend looking up Skip Smith The Villages ( Sue Smith) , The Villages Florida Newcomers (Jerry and Linda). They live in the Villages and have You Tube Channels. You will be able to find out answers to many of the questions that you might not get from a sales agent. They do answer questions.

We have been a bit out of the loop on all the news since we have not had the tv on a lot so I have heard a bit but certainly not what everyone is facing right now. Sounds awful!!! There have been times in MI that we have been out of power in the dead of winter also. It stinks!!
I live in Portland, OR at the moment but I was born in Detroit and grew up in Royal Oak (big Tutor home - loved!). Do you remember when MI and 7 other states had no power for about a week years ago? It was in the summer so it was hot without air conditioning, but better than winter without heat. I've also lived in Florida, Ohio, California (family joke - moving every time the rent comes due :) Hope you are loving your trip!

We lived in Milford, MI at the time and remember having to go stay at my MIL house for the week since we had no air and it was stinking hot out. Of course we lost all of our freezer and refrigerator food as well and if I remember correctly, I had just gone to the grocery store!! Big Bummer!

Before we came down here, I just watched TH-cam videos on different cities in FL to try to find some we may like to stay at. From there, I picked 3 spots to visit and then looked up air b&b's in those towns until I found the perfect one. That is how I looked at it. Next year, we will probably pick new places based on what we learned we liked and did not like about the cities we went to this year. New people you said , please be careful Florida gated communities however nice they seem ans glorious are a trap HOA’s neighborhood boards I’m telling you from experience moved from up north those neighborhoods may seem nice but is all a trap don’t be fooled ans do extensive research you’ll realize sooner than later you’ll want to move out and can’t. You can’t do anything to your Home, people will complain about the smallest things, when you have company they’ll know too, they’ll know your every move, even the stuff you buy from your garbage, please please please make sure you dint fall for a trap no matter what people say or no matter how nice and vacations it looks. Assessments will eat you out unable to move everything will complicate. Please be careful I’m talking from experience.Everyone loves everything when it’s new I’ve been thru it I sold and bought into one and I can’t tell you how many time as day I want to move out you can’t garden and all types of restrictions you think your ok with but eventually start popping up later once they know your in. Please be careful if your comming from another state I rented before buying them made the most biggest mistake to buy into something I thought was so glorious. I’m not Debbie downing just please telling you to be careful I try to warn people because I know eventually it will happend it’s just a matter of time. Proceed with caution is all I’m saying and think very hard before you take that step. Florida has a rep to stage things to be glorious.

I was just reading an article about several people who moved to the villages, but can't sell to move elsewhere or back home. One lady was saying it becomes monotonous after a few years. It definitely doesn't appeal to me, but then I like to hike and there are absolutely so hills or mountains in Florida.
I’m not sure why said person couldn’t move or sell, the houses there are only on the market for a day or two. Over 455 new and preowned homes sold just in February! The homes there have gone up in value at least 5% every year for the last 20 years! Even in a depressed economy the homes in TV increase in value. Many people in the older northern parts are selling their homes for a large profit and buying in the new southern portion because they are making so much money! So if you can’t sell there must be a problem with the house.
I don’t understand the pull of the Villages. I live in Florida and we hear some unusual things about what people do in that place. I would like to know how you felt after the end of your stay.
Hi Sandra, Well, since this video a year and a half ago, we bought our own place in the villages and I am here to tell you that after 7 months, all the rumors you hear....I have found NO evidence that any of them are true. Now, that said, If someone is a swinger, I am sure just like any city of 130,000 or more people, you can find some like minded people but we have not witnessed any of this activity or do we know anyone who participates in all of that nonsense.

I know this was 2 years ago. Did they tell you the name of the model of the house that you stayed in? Do you remember it? I like that model. Very spacious.
IDK who told you that you can only do a Lifestyle visit once, but I was told by someone who has been there several times - though there may be a limit as to how many times you can do it in one year. I think they want you to try the lifestyle, not just use it as a nice vacation spot.
Thanks for the info Susan. We were told that by our sales rep at the villages but if you are serious about buying, they will let you come down again. You are right, they don't want people coming and doing that year after year just for their vacation.

yea i hope y’all had fun! we love the squares and all the cart ride.. unfortunately the only golf cart that come with AC are street legals in most cases and they look like lil square cars like the Atomics etc.. so you’re stuck with rolling up the sides and out her in the wind LOL.. that’s ok though, still fun 😁
