    Love the B8/B8.5 content! If you ever get around to doing a valve cover gasket video for the 3.0T, that would be amazing

    I've watched tons of videos, DYI, how-to, etc. This was by far one of the best. Spoke clearly and not too technical, clear footage, good lighting. Gained a new follower and like, my friend !

    Great content as always. What I find so funny is how many shops charge 4-5x the cost of an oil change to do service the diffs when it's really the same procedure. Drain, fill, drive.

    It should be noted that there is a fill procedure for the ATF portion of the diff. In VCDS you can fill the lines, bleed them etc. If you don't follow this procedure, you risk underfilling the diff and then getting sport diff faults.

    Great video. I have a B8.5 S5 with 6MT. Isn't there a front diff and center diff as well? I have looked on FCP main site and am confused. I want a kit to replace ALL the diffs and trans fluids... I'm thinking rear diff / rear sport diff (kit for that exists, thanks) / center diff / manual trans / front diff. Am I overthinking again? I drive hard every day at high boost with 90k.... I'm sure it's overdue.

    Nice. Very helpful! Why would it be not a good thing to overfill it a bit? I saw one guy on YT try to overfill it on purpose.

  • @icemanmb
    @icemanmb ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Don't forget to use VCDS or a good diag to fill, bleed and pressure test the lines for the rear diff and also reset the oil aging values too.

    • @Therettes098
      @Therettes098 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why is this necessary? I haven’t found anything on this and he doesn’t even mention it?????

    • @icemanmb
      @icemanmb 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @matthewlocascio3343 because you need to refill the pressure pipes and bleed any air out of the pumps and lines, also it uses oil aging to calculate the clutch pack efficiency for each side. Most people treat it like a normal drain and refill because they've not read the Audi repair methods.

    • @gmr19

      Could one simply follow the video tutorial here, drive the car a few miles and recheck the fill to see if the diff will take a little more oil?

  • @jordanb7485
    @jordanb7485 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Ive read on some forums that the atf side is supposed to be "bled" by either vcds or by going out and driving to activate the diff then top off the fluid again. Do you guys just recommend one fill up and done?

    • @fcpeuro
      @fcpeuro  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Jordan, a drain and fill is sufficient for this.

    Like the oil drain plug, are the differential drain plugs a one-time use?

  • @theecuconnection
    @theecuconnection หลายเดือนก่อน

    To keep the plugs from getting stuck and fighting with it afterwards, just rock the ratchet end towards and away from the diff a few times. If that doesn’t work you can always tighten it a little and loosen it again. That helps save a ton of frustration. If it was a high torqued bolt when you tighten it again, you can sometimes hear the socket break free with a quiet “click”. Also, DO NOT do this if the plug isn’t almost all the way in. If you do this with only a couple threads hanging on(almost completely removed), you can pull or damage the threads and cause a bigger headache. Also, don’t be a HeeMan. 5-10ft lbs for those of you with a bionically calibrated built-in torque wrenches.😂

    Great video, thank you. I've got red fluid leaking out of the atf side of mine, it look like the shaft flange seal is leaking. I also have a diff control module fault so my plan is to unplug the module and recode the car to not have a sports diff just so it runs as a normal diff. So my question is do you think having low atf fluid inside the diff and having normal level gear oil on the other side will cause me any issues? Im thinking it won't as the atf doesn't provide lubrication as such, it's just to engage the clutches either side and provide extra torque to one side or the other as demanded in extreme driving. Would love to know ymif you agree with this?

  • @Hopelessthugg
    @Hopelessthugg 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    How on earth did you not edit thus video to tell people they must bleed the sport diff? Driver side. Fill it up. Go do hard circles left and right in dynamic mode. Then refill. It'll take more. If you have vcds u can use that to prime it.

  • @EJR20
    @EJR20 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’d like to preface this with I’m referring to a 2009 A4 Quattro & I have new motor mounts & trans mount but I still have drivetrain vibrations coming into the cabin. Car’s at 170,000mi got it at 150,000mi not sure if they ever changed transmission fluid or filter, or any of the diffs oil, I’ll have the mech see if they can tell. Now with the diff, would bad a lower differential bushing and rear carrier bushings cause vibrations to the cabin? Especially when I throw it in gear, reverse is even worse.
    And does the front differential and center differential transfer case have mounts or bushings?

      So- the transfer fluid goes on the driver side. And the axle oil goes on the passenger side.
