    ***update*** PLEASE READ!!! I called Eaton about my 2013 S5, they said it’s a tvs-r 1320 supercharger and fill it with 155ml of oil. I drained mine and barely any came out!!!!! When I “put in what I took out” it only was a quarter of that tiny 5 fl oz bottle Audi sells you. So thats only like 151 out of 155 ml!! So I need another bottle just to top off that 4ml left. Awesome video regardless!! 🔥 💯

    I own a B8.5 SQ5 and I've just passed 90k miles on the car. I've been looking at a bunch of DIY videos on the engine's maintenance, and i wholeheartedly disagree that this engine is reliable like people say. Thay statement carries a very big asterisk next to it because just like in this video, and countless others, there is a bold statement that says: "while your supercharger is off, you should go ahead and change the PCV valve, thermostat, water pump" not to mention doing a valve cleaning, intercoller cores, and even timing chain valve guides. All this work can cost upwards of $10,000+ EASY. and these maintenance procedures are being commonly done at lower than average intervals, not uncommon for people to do them at 20-40k miles, just for peace of mind because of the fear of parts failing (which again, is very common) so this idea that the engine is reliable is an overstatement when you factor in the amount of work and money you have to put into the car out of precaution and preventative maintenance. That is not the definition of reliable. I am in no way bashing Audi, I'm simply saying what many whisper simply because the majority of Audi lovers easily throw around the word "reliable" with this engine ignoring the fact that you have to see easily pay thousands, to perform the work at indy shops and dealerships because many arent mechanically inclined.

    • @Hopelessthugg
      @Hopelessthugg 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Reliable comes down to the motor being able to take the extra power of modding and stay strong for 200k miles or more when maintained. Sure the maintaining is more costly, but know what you're getting before you get it. There are cars you can maintain the shit out of, and they'll have motors failing and trans that won't last 100k miles.

    • @chipchelios
      @chipchelios 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @Hopelessthugg Whether the motor can take the power is besides the point, that's actually called robust. Robustness and reliability are two different things. The motor can take the power without a doubt. But the motor is notorious for needing various preventative care maintenance in its stock form, without being modified. When you have to invest in replacing oem motor parts before the car is even modified just to have peace of mind, That's not reliability. That's a money pit. Nonetheless, I love my SQ5. But it does suck when I have to drop $1800 on a pcv valve replacement at 50k miles because I'm losing coolant into my engine.

I know you said there isn't any mileage recommendation for the supercharger oil change, but what do you guys think is a responsible time frame for a daily driver on a 2012 A7... 0 track days, only the occasional overtakes or aggressive driving.🤔 p.s.. i already replaced the plugs and ignition coils, valve gasket is next based on your recommendations👍🏼

    Well demonstrated as always! Just a thought, could this be done without removing the supercharger and using a manual extractor pump? I use one for doing oil changes on my E46 M3, it's great for removing it all straight from the bottom of the sump through the dipstick tube, I just wondered if it could be used on these. My guess is that access would be problematic?
