Singer 2018 is the sixth season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer that will air on Hunan Television. It is produced by Hong Tao, and its music director is Hong Kong senior musician Kubert Leung. The first episode was recorded in the Hunan Broadcasting System Radio and Television Center, Changsha, Hunan on December 28, 2017 and premiered on January 12, 2018 and ended on April 20, 2018. For the first time this series, TH-cam provided English captions for the show.
On April 13, 2018, British Singer Jessie J was the winner of Singer 2018, making her the first non-Chinese/foreign singer to win the competition, and was also the first singer to rank in top three on all her performing weeks throughout the season. Chinese singer Hua Chenyu and Wang Feng were placed second and third, respectively. - บันเทิง

I LOVE YOUR REACTION. Sooo spot on that the world should start recognizing such a rare gem (that is Hua Chen Yu). And yes, someday I hope the Recording Academy finds him and him to be exposed in the Grammys. So funny how you also mentioned BTS. BTS and Hua Chen Yu are the artists I look up to the most right now. Both of them are waaay above their fields right now. I also love how these two have unique perspectives of music. Real music, connecting people, expressing themselves in the music they produce. You should definitely watch more of Hua Chen Yu's performances he is one great showman, definitely the world is missing out on.
The same here. I watch BTS for their dance performances mostly because their choreography is the best and their rags-to-riches growth story makes me feel good, but I listen to Hua Hua with my soul. I simply cannot believe that listening to his music can give me such feels and transport my being into a different dimension/setting sometimes (e.g. Giant Deer, Seek). The lyrics in some of his songs also have a lot deeper meanings for reflection (e.g. Bullfighting, Jackdaw Boy, Salt of the Earth, Ordinary Path, Arrival). Some other performances of his are just pure art (e.g. Idiot, Fake Monk, Cancer, Dad, I'm Home, Folding) of course!
I discovered HuaHua October 2017 right after Dimash...I am amazed that The Singer had both of them....They are both amazing...both called angels, aliens not human.....both came from Mars...hehe....

It only took him one day to write this song. In this kind of competition program, he doesn't care about the ranking, he just needs to enjoy the music, which is very admirable.

Literally in Superboy 2013 with more than 100 contestant, he came there to eat/for fun. And eventually he won lol. And in Singer 2018 with all professional singers he was still like: I’m not here to win, I came to have fun. He’s really funny with his music partner (every singer in Singer has a music partner actually it’s just a buddy because the people never help in music but keep up the schedule and everything lol). The one he has is WeiJia one of the most famous hosts in China and they joke around all the time and have been really close for some times. He literally said we both return after quite some years, let’s have fun 😂 he treats him like a child while all the other music partners are like: “you cannot lose this one or you’ll be eliminated”, and those two really relaxed all the time. He’s weird in a way if you don’t understand him and his past. He’s actually really shy, you cannot see it in his performance but always when he’s done he gets shy immediately. Even after being famous for so many years he keeps being shy and a lot of others stars are still surprised how shy he is because he is really famous, most stars don’t get shy anymore after some years but he’s still the same

Great reaction. The Singer 2017 is where Dimash was discovered and The Singer 2018 is when Hua Hua emerged. He wasn’t in it from the beginning but came in on episode 4 and then the world knew about him. The Singer takes professional singers from all over the World. Whatever Hua does is not to win anything but to share his music and learn from others. As he says he’s already a winner. He very charismatic on stage and has full control of his audience but you’ll have to watch some of his English subtitled interviews to get him. He’s a graduate of a prestigious Chinese Music conservatory so HE KNOWS MUSIC. He has 300 million followers on Weibo (Chinese twitter). Please do Fake Monk next, then wayfarer, then Ordinary Path and Wukong. That will finish his Singer episodes. Then move on to some of his concerts: ashes from fireworks, Road To Eutopia (with Eng sub) where the audience tries to sing with him, bullfighting (epic in a bohemian rhapsody kind of way).
He doesn't have 300 million followers. His followers are around 30-40 million. Even the most followed person on Weibo (Xie Na) has around 125 million followers.
His live performance is on fire! Hua Chen Yu he is so amazing.

Hua chenyu actually went to the grammy in 2015, but he wasn’t nominated etc, he just went as an audience/guest😊

Great reaction. I love how you sang along every time he said "GO" :D Yes, he should be recognized globally but the fact is that he actually doesn't care about that :D He is perfectly satisfied with where he's now. I'm from Croatia and I think I'm the only one in my country who knows about him but I'm doing my best to spread the word because I think that people are really missing out with not knowing him and his music. He is amazing.
I feel the same way. He is really the multi-talented singer/composer here and I wish people around the world could get to recognize him and his talents!
@@cate9963 US and Europe dont play any other world music esp asian music regularly on their mainstream media networks.. This is unlike China n most other asian countries . They have no qualms in giving airplay to western singers/songs music on their networks .They allow their singers to sing or cover western songs too.
So the problem is asian music are not given the same exposure in the west as western music are in asia. Western pple will have to depend on internet to be aware of the asian music scene n in fact if not for this alternative media, practically all of them have never heard of any of the great singers from the east. However , the mainstream networks are still the lst main source for singers to be introduced and promoted to the people.
So true - Thanks to U tube is how I found Hua and Dimash by reactors suggestions and commentaries. Since listening to them, I would never have listened to anything that had rap or opera. Kind of ironic that it takes an unknown language to connect to the song, even though it's not in English.
There needs to be radio station in US that plays up and coming talents from various competition shows, because there's loads of talented people outside of US.
I also try to spread his music among my FaceBook friends. Unfortunately, I don't think they're interested when it comes to foreign music with no English words. I've asked family if they've seen my post. They've seen it but … Too bad. They're missing out on some unique singers (Hua Chenyu, Pentatonix, Home Free, Avi Kaplan, etc...)

When JV mentioned Hua's shirt, it made me focus on his and their clothing. Wow, you all match! All 3 of you in black. Jane and Hua had the bling. Then I noticed that the lighting chosen matches the yellow of Hua's shirt!
If you watched the entire show, he actually talked about near the end of the competition that every single song that he picked since eps 4 is actually to describe one person's life, where as the first one is about Monkey king - born from a rock, second song he did was child, I can't remember all the order but then this one represent like a teenager, being rebellious and start developing their own view of the world etc. which I thought was really neat, even when one of the week he changed his song the day before performing (he did it because he found out the lyricist of the song passed away at the age of 22 and he did it as a tribute to her) and he was glad that it somehow kinda fit into his 'story' that he wanted to show to everyone

Ok guys now that you are on a run with Singer 2018, you MUST check out KZ Tandigan on the same show. Start with her cover of Adele's "Rolling in the Deep". It has to be the most creative reinterpretation of a song ever. Then react to KZ's cover of Lorde's "Royals," and then "Say Something." You won't be disappointed.
Hua Chenyu has several duets with other singers. These songs are Naping Evening Bell, Perhaps Love, Light Years Away, Fate of Half A Lifetime, Idiot, If You Were Li Bai, Insignificance, Giant Deer. Those songs cover various styles. You will be surprised! They are all great and amazing in their own way that you and more people should hear and know! My personal favorite is Giant Deer and you can find his 2017 Mars Concert performance. It is magical!

hua chenyu actually has similar experience with bts! He wrote this song under similar background as bts.
He got a lot of hate because of his unique style of music when he first showed off in public in a talent show. But now, he is one of the youngest successul singers in China.

Hua Chenyu is the top live-king of the stage!The productor of the Show had invited him for severl years to attend but he refused. He came to the Show last year only for fun.
