Singer 2018 is the sixth season of Chinese television series Singer, a rebranded version of I Am a Singer that will air on Hunan Television. It is produced by Hong Tao, and its music director is Hong Kong senior musician Kubert Leung. The first episode was recorded in the Hunan Broadcasting System Radio and Television Center, Changsha, Hunan on December 28, 2017 and premiered on January 12, 2018 and ended on April 20, 2018. For the first time this series, TH-cam provided English captions for the show.
On April 13, 2018, British Singer Jessie J was the winner of Singer 2018, making her the first non-Chinese/foreign singer to win the competition, and was also the first singer to rank in top three on all her performing weeks throughout the season. Chinese singer Hua Chenyu and Wang Feng were placed second and third, respectively. - บันเทิง
Yes, he can do anything. Rap, Rock, Pop music, Classical music, R & B, Ballad, Opera etc. His voice can change to whatever he wants. Playing a variety of music instruments is his strength. It is very admirable that he is also a great composer. He is so unique and versatile that I have never seen. He is a wonderful genius !

Currently 1 of the best singers in Asia alongside Dimash and Sohyang. He is definitely the most multifaceted performer I have ever seen and is so versatile that you never know what genre of music he's going to render. So far he has done rock,musical pieces( Perhaps Love, Flammable & Explosive), rap, acoustic ( Dad I'm Home), baroque classical or opera ( Idiot) and more. Once u embark on a journey with these 3 singers.. It's hard to watch another mundane performance

"Child" is a beautiful example demonstrates how amazing his vocal techniques are... Hua said he considers human voice as an instrument, which has no difference from the piano, guitar or bass. A singer should integrate with the song rather than make himself/herself outstand. Check out "Nunchucks", he rearranged & composed new parts & elements in, turned this pure rap song into another multi-genre masterpiece. You will see how imaginative he is.

I randomly found about Hua ChenYu and after listening to his "Child" I've become a fan. This song remains, for me, the greatest. I still get chills and teary eyed listening to it.

Hua Chenyu has different performances as you can see. In my opinion he has songs and performances that can be easily enjoyed on radio and performances that you need to listen with your soul.
He can transmit so much feeling through his music that is almost unreal!!

To start from the beginning, you must react to “Nunchucks”, then “I don’t care”, then “Ordinary Path”, then “Fake Monk”, then “Great Sage Equal to Heaven”. Ashes from fireworks is a favorite. For more recent check out Bullfighting. He won Super Boy singing competition over 5 years ago and it’s been upwards ever since. He has an enigmatic style and presence and owns the stage but very low key private life.

You should also react to a singer on the same program, Tengger or Tengri. He is a 58-year-old Mongolian and sings "Heaven". It's Mongolian blues music. It begins with traditional Mongolian Horse-head fiddles, and then the fiddler's do "throat singing". It is polyphonic, which is to say they can produce more than one note at the same time. Jessie J. flips when she hears it. The song is beautiful. You will see people crying in the audience.
some info,, Hua started his career in a show called Superboy.He auditioned and entered the comp with just making musical sounds with his voice.He went on to win the comp.Next he went on to the Chinese show called The Next.This was a show where 4 popular singers chose 4 amature singers blindly to compete against..THE CATCH WAS the amature singer got to choose the one they were competing againsts song out of 6 songs where as they the amature could sing what they wanted.

omg yes you are very correct. hua chenyu does has dark past. not as tragic as the ones you've mentioned. however, he was neglected at such a young age after his parents got divorced and his father was too busy of his work. growing up, he was so desperate of love but also refused it because he was afraid of getting hurt. music was pretty much his escape from the very harsh reality. the first time his father complimented him was when he won a singing competition called Superboy, and he was already 23 years old.
I am so happy that you are reacting to Hua Chenyu now! I also recently discovered Hua Chenyu and I was so blown away by his versatility and creativity! He is a pure genius! He composes and rearranges other singers' songs for the competitions himself. A lot of his recent performances are from some singing competitions/judging shows (although all participants are established singers) as he first participated in one and entered the industry. I really like his experimental style. He gets me to see a different dimension of singing. If you get a chance, please check out his Fake Monk--his most artistic performance! You will need to watch his pre-performance interview and have the caption on though to understand better!

"I Dont Care" is such a amazing rock song which was composed by him on 2015. Hua performed that song and got the 1st place on 7th episode of SINGER 2018! Yes, something tragic has happened to him. His parent got divorced when he was 3, he had to grow up on his own. He had lonely and sad childhood. The song Fake Monk is about his sorrow in the past, it is indeed mind blowing.

Great reaction thank you. A singer who is mastering his vocals even more is Dimash Kudaibergen from Kazakhstan. He attended Singer 2017 and has insane vocal control and abilities. You should definately react to several of his Singer 2017 performances and the best place to start is the song SOS. It is French but you can easily find it with English subs.

As an Englishman who doesn't understand a single word of chinese (I'm assuming mandarin) I prefer to watch hua chenyu without subtitles so I can interpret the music for myself because every performance seems like it's not only telling a story but also trying (and succeeding) to take us on a journey through our own souls
You can't judge his popularity by views of Eng sub version… the original video of this song in SINGER official channel has 5,132,679 views and you need to know that most of Chinese don't use youtube, so most of the 5,132,679 views is actually from people outside China. Thanks for reaction

He had anxiety since he was just a young kid, since his parents divorced and he was always alone. He wasn't very good at communicating . The only way he could express himself was by writting music and singing.
In 2013, he joined a competition called "Super Boy" ( in Chinese : 快樂男聲 ) and he won first place.
He also got famous after that.

Jessie J (you know from Domino’s and all those songs) was the one you were looking at who was drinking. 😂 I really don’t think you guys realise how famous Hua Chenyu in China is. He has always been in the top 30 stars in China famous list (I use MGTV list). Every month it refreshes but he is always in the top 30. Mostly new rising stars get there for a month after a succes but won’t be in the top 50 for 3 months. Only a few people can hold the top 30 every month lol
