I HAVE CRIPPLING DEPRESSION : you didn't watch the video? Lol yes its a single player game. You travel from ship to ship to your next objective, you gotta keep gathering food and fuel to keep going, you look for loot to build new weapons and gadgets. If you die, you go back to the first ship you started but you keep all your gear. It's addicting trying to get further and further and finding new loot to build the next cool gadget to use.

Just picked up the game today, I usually never get games on a whim, and hardly ever buy a game on its day of release, but it looked so different from what I've seen in games that I felt it was worth it. Void Bastards resurrects my childhood imagination- bringing to life the comic book pages. I think, for most of us, that ability gets lost in adulthood.

Been playing it and it’s great ! The flashlight bits bother me but the way it makes you change gameplay is decent , just looks horrible . The death also could use an animation , what happens is really weightless and weird feeling . Just all of a sudden a big graphic coming up .
I dont know if they made updates since your review or not but I just downloaded it from game pass and on the console with my astro a50 headphones it sounds absolutely amazing. The way the pistol and weapons pop in the spaceships sounds crisp and realistic as well. Overall this is a great review. I just subbed
Its seems the game audio aspects were heavily influenced by System Shock 2, which if so that's awesome since SS2 still has probably the best soundscape of any game ever.

I love the idea of this game, though I feel like I'm going to have the same problem with it as I had with games like Fallout 4 and MGSV: fun, but gets stale quick.
Looove the enemies in this game, they remind me of those gobby Scottish gargoyles from _Fable 2_ (by far the funniest part of that game) Only thing this game needs is an even greater variety of spaceship environments, to make it perfection.
So death isn't like a rogue where you start from scratch? That's nice. Honestly I don''t want another rogue game where there's no sense of progress (except skill from playing). The indie market is flooded with rogue atm and so is my steam library. Also 'soft-aim' makes gun stats actually mean something. Don't get me wrong I like an arena/tactical shooter as much as the next guy. But when a gun has random cone of fire it makes you play more tactically for the weapon you're using. Adding another variation in gameplay instead of just aim at head click button win.

I love it! It has such a good Doom vibe. The game looks amazing and its hilarious. Not much really to it but I love the rogue like progression. Kinda eery but not in an obnoxious way. I recommend it for those looking for a chill experience.
The white comic-book border around the edge of the screen is pissing me off, I even hate the vignetting shading effect in the corners of the screen in other games so a full white border is to much of an eyesore. I had to stop playing Valkyria Chronicles because it has a similar effect so hopefully it can be modded out in Void Bastards as it ruins immersion IMO.
I would've never heard of this game if you hadn't done the review for it. I may have to give Void Bastards a shot despite some of the issues that it has. With that aside, thanks once again Karak for the great review. I really appreciate the hard work!
I really wanted to like this game but I cant tell you how many times I would explore a room of a ship and then when I turned around to leave there was a citizen just staring at me in the door way, I felt the citizens present section gave me false information about the number I would be dealing with (one time it said a few janitors but when I left the ship I had used over 200 bullets) all in all I think this game had potential but too often I felt lied to by the design.
Looks interesting overall, but for some reason those super-static sprite-based weapons just feel really, really weird... Should have gone with cel-shaded 3D models.

Just as a thought though, do you think you could consider time stamping your reviews into segments (graphics, music, gameplay etc...) just because while I do really appreciate how in-depth you are, for Void Bastards I’ve already checked out gameplay so I don’t really care about the music side of things, I just want to hear your more general feelings on the game. If it was time stamped, I could easily skip and go back to what I need to know about on a game by game basis. I know that is nit-picky but just a though! Otherwise, I do really love your videos ☺️❤️
This game is vastly cleaner looking than Borderlands, I find that this is a weird comparison. Personally without having played the game yet I would sometimes prefer an environment style like this that doesn't suffer from eyesore clutter and lets you be able to notice key details without difficulty or much strain.

Aza-Industries you don't lose the items you've unlocked but you do start from the beginning and have to work your way up from ship to ship.
