7:16 I had this aha moment but later in the game after getting the rifter. I can't describe the satisfaction of stunning and reprogramming a gunpoint, and then picking it up with the rifter to have a personal portable turret
Thank you for this video. I just got through my first hour of the game and was having a difficult time figuring out what I was supposed to be doing and more importantly, NOT to do. This helped a lot.
Void Bastards is like a cosmic remix of gaming’s greatest hits. It’s MGS meets BOTW, sprinkled with therapeutic crafting. The quirky humor and disposable characters keep it fresh. Tight corridors, British aliens, and procedurally generated chaos, this game dances to its own beat. It's a gem of a game, a collage of influences, very creative, the game will run on low powered systems, shooters have changed forever. I'm enjoying shedloads of fun! 🚀🌌
I love the rogue lite genre and it's really all I've been playing lately. Just picked this up the other night and I can tell it's gonna be in rotation for games I play when I'm not sure what I wanna play that day. Over the last few months I have found myself boncing between slay the spire, enter/ exit the gungeon, hades, binding of Isaac, BPM bullets per minute, rogue legacy, the last stand: aftermath, and this game. Like I'll do a couple runs on one game and depending on how they go I might stick with that game or switch to another one. I really enjoy genre because even though they share a lot of core concepts the games themselves can vary greatly so each one can scratch a particular itch with a rather quick gameplay loop.
I went through a "phase" of constantly buying and playing multiple Rogue lites for a few months, some that i got addicted to was Hades, Cogmind, Caves of Qud, Void Bastards, Space Scavenger, Binding of Isaac, Darkest Dungeon and ofc the legendary FTL, plus a few more that were pretty generic. I dont play them much anymore though, ill dip in for a run now and then but after a while it can get frustrating.
Goddammit, this dude turned around while discussing the traits, and an allied Zec was behind him, and I fucking flinched >__< Gorram Zecs are a nightmare of you're not carrying the right stuff. ¬___¬
Im currently on a decent run, ive yet to get to Depth 3 so seeing some of these "new" enemies scares me as just dealing with spooks takes so much of my time on a ship.
Enjoying the game, finding progression difficult but not impossible on hard. Alter my playstyle depending on needs...sometimes rush a map for a component, sometimes grab everything everything. Kind of find that its a great chill game, though its very one note. Worth the 10$ price tag right now, not worth original forty bucks.
I brought this game 2 years Ago not knowing a damn thing about it was simply looking for a new game the title caught my eye then when I flipped the box I saw the graphics went with my gut and got it that may have been then last time I experience finding a game like that! The old school way
I don't personally use the term rogue "lite" because a rogue "lite" is still rogue "like" because it uses mechanics like and based on and inspired by the game Rogue. Making it rogue like on a literal sense. What mechanics you use or how closely you use them doesn't change the fact that they are mechanics taken directly from Rogue and use because they where used by Rogue. So they're all Rogue "like".
I think the dystopy is nicely thought out. how all the clients are basically the desiccated system slaves, the inhabitants are all monsters and the only free people are the female pirates you have to avoid. 😂 But I have to say you should really have reviewed the pie rats the most cheers
this game did like the exact oppisite for me ... i was super defensive / passive to start and became agressive nearer to the end and often just suicide did things coz fuck it.
My issue with the game was enemies that perpetually spawned. You can never TRULY clear a ship and just loot everything, at least SOME ships spawn annoying explosive ghosts
... And then you realize, that you can just lock the doors to the rooms with spawn point and literrally loot everything in most cases. Coz there are still random ships, where there are spawn points everywhere, ships without locks or without doors at all. And dont forget about no power with no light ships...
Thanks for the sub! Yeah I think Void Bastards is one of the better games this year (Along with Hellblade and The Messenger). I'm glad this game is getting some much needed attention.
Void Bastards is great. It’s a comfort food game. I’ve played it a lot, and only just beat it recently 😂 it doesn’t feel as repayable at some point. Once you’ve unlocked everything, you’re just kind of cruising to cruise 🤷♂️ seems kind of pointless. I wish it had more content.
If you like Roguelites, I definitely recommend it. It's not as long as many roguelites, but there's a lot of replayability with different challenges, difficulties, and more. So I absolutely recommend it!
Rogue legacy is punching a wall until your fist calluses. It's nothing like dark souls in the way that dark souls is skill and memorization, rogue legacy is torturous grinding.
You’re honestly missing out on one of the best aspects of the game. Punishment for death. Makes you FEEL a bit more immersed, and makes you value your characters life and choices more
Great video but feel like you could have focused on the game advertised. Plenty of great information but you go off on a tangent about another game several times. Again great video and I hope the next I watch sticks to the expectations set by the title of the video. You know if it says void bastards it doesn't tell me about rogue legacy instead of what was advertised...you know void bastards....the game that was in the title....not rouge legacy..
This is misadvertised as a tips for playing void bastards. If it was a review just say so in the title. I didn't learn a thing about how to play the game.
@@Kinglink Not your fault, just that yours was the 1st to come up in YT's algorithm for tips on Void Bast... didn't mean to shit on ya, the vid was solid, fair review.
While Rogue Legacy is nice it demands too much time investment and the enemies level up with you. This is not true of Dark Souls and Void Bastards where you can get stronger than the opponent. Void Bastards on hard bastard is also VERY HARD I would say more so that Rogue Legacy. So I like Void Bastards better because it respects your time, has a lower skill floor and higher skill ceiling.
What game learned me: - fuck Screw, skip to next waypoint - turning off security is useless too because it gives you like 80 sec of time - enemies respawn endlessly even if game is saying that there is """"a few""" of them ... but that is not true because for me, "a few" means 5 - 10 tops ... and not 20+ - you say that it does a good job explaining stuff ... yet again not true because i needed to google what does some thing do like Merits ... should i spend all of it ? for what is good to spend on ? - this game is not for new people, is extremely hard and annoying to play
-Yes avoid screws -80 secs is enough time to navigate around a turret you were blocked by -enemies don't respawn unless there is a void rift (which you can lock off) -If you cannot understand what the use of currency is in a game and also need to google it to know what to buy, then perhaps you should stick to candy crush -"new people" is rather vague, do you mean children? Rogue lites are notoriously hard in general and they expect you to die a lot, its a mechanic that's actually part of the experience.
I really dont like stealth games, but VB isnt particularly stealth, its more stratergy, you still have all out fights with grenades, mines, shotgunes, pistols ect ect, upgrading armour and health, the time spent on each ship (the levels) is only about 10 mins max as your limited to how much oxygen you have, so slow stealth is not wise, you need to move fast and prioritise, its not a stealth game at all.
Well other games do reward you for killing other enemies or in sone cases other players... In some games the point of the game is to play aggresive, if this game actually helped with playing more conservative instead of aggresive why hasnt it blown up like fortnite or pubg
The demographic. The games you mentioned are multiplayer oriented. Not to mention, fast-paced. The approach is different in Void Bastards. It is resource-oriented with heavy emphasis on micromanagement of equipment and loot. And it's singleplayer. In a market full of FPSs that offer dense combat, grants the player super powers, and demands quick reflexes/decision-making, Void Bastards offers almost the exact opposite. And it's a breath of fresh air to those with high exposure to aspects of the former. Consider the audience whom have played every FPS since the original DOOM. And I bet there are less of those than there are middles schoolers (which is the main target audience of the games you listed). It's also another (experimental) approach to roguelikes that is a "new" genre in itself, which Darkest Dungeons is the best at (still), imo.
Simply put, "Haha click click boom boom nice colours lol look thanos and John wick" is far more accessible to a wide audience than a slower paced, more strategic game thats focus isn't on killing everything in sight.
@@joshuabernardo4305 Having completed the game I realize this but far more people enjoy the “call of duty” style games over a strategic fps game well put joshua.
