Nancy, I could watch your videos all day!❣️ You inspire me! Love your top! You are so right about sizing and different brands fitting differently. Before Covid I could go to the area mall and find exactly what I was looking for in the right fit. Now there is very little in our mall. Ordering online is frustrating for me! Any suggestions?
Love the elevated and basics comment. While my lifestyle has changed(retired and grandchildren), I find myself reaching for the clothes with a bit better quality that I have had for years than the pieces of fast fashion I have bought thinking I needed them and was saving money.
The most helpful thing I did to finally discover my personal style.. pay attention to what is donated or discarded! After awhile I noticed repeating patterns in the tops I never wore: clingy fabrics, silhouettes that are fitted or too structured and anything muted! Mandarin collars or peasant / smocked never got worn! I've identified my best colors: clear jewel tones or stark black & white . Oatmeal , autumn colors, khaki or grey look absolutely horrible on me. Designs should be oversized ,dolman, drapey tops in vibrant tones . Bold jewelry, gold hardware purse, pointy toe flats, leopard accessories . Since making this list I was able to update my wardrobe with a few concise pieces & I'm loving all of them! Thank you for a wonderful channel & your insight
I'm retired and this year I've finally updated my wardrobe for fall with lots of stylish, comfortable and quality pieces. The problem is I want to save everything so that they stay looking new when I need them for occasions and social gatherings. I don't even like to take the tags off. This tends to be greater cost-per-wear, but its something I have to struggle with.
You are so right about tuning out the noise! Not everything is for everyone! Sometimes it’s really hard for me to find things I like to wear that are part of my style and were trendy a few years ago because they are getting new things in constantly , there is no time to like something so much to repurchase in two years or so
Love your channel ❤ Comfort is the name of the game for me in my 50s; I love the accessories you mentioned which is something I always love to incorporate in my personal style. Now that I am back at the office. We have a business casual and I have been able to incorporate my own personal style and be comfortable all the same time.
I taught the cost-per-wear to my daughter when she was a pre-teen and she says that it still makes her make better decisions when shopping after all these years. We both are not fans of fast fashion. We also love to thrift and look for excellent quality clothing items at a fraction of the cost. We've even ended up wearing the exact same outfit because we shop for quality pieces. It makes my husband laugh and we love that we have the same mindset about buying clothes even if we are mother and daughter.
I love your channel! It's so informative and fun. I will not go out of the house without some foundation. I have reddish skin inherited from my Mother and her Father. Thanks guys!! Lol So foundation is a must. Summer time is a powder foundation and cool weather is a more liquid foundation. With the liquid, alittle powder. I like my lashes to be done as well. I use the Thrive mascara because it is the best, hands down.
I keep clothing lists on my phone. I have one each season for Fashion Trends, Wardrobe, Outfits and Capsule. I keep track of what I've bought for the season and what I need.
Very inspiring video thank you. I'm new to your channel and have had a huge de- clutter this Autumn ... So plenty of room to take on board many good tips here and take my time in choosing fresh new pieces going forward ! X
Love this video…. yes, we have all suffered through the uncomfortable ! No more… I can’t believe how long it took me to get here …. 66 years! Just last year I started to focus on the comfort.
As always Nancy, such a helpful video. I think that I already know these things you mention, but I always get something new, helpful and inspiring in yor videos. TY for all you do here on YT!
Love your videos Nancy and I think it would be so helpful to see you wearing some of these pieces. I appreciate the photos of the clothing you show but to see you actually wearing the items would make it more appealing and more "real". TIA!
Wonderful video! So relevant I get pulled into that “price” factor but I understand that quality is important. I think the list idea is so on point there is so much influence to buy… 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Thank you! 😊
Goodness when you said when your friends look at some thing and say oh, that is so you, and it looks like you should be the rhinestone cowgirl, I know I need to change my wardrobe lol
Nancy, I enjoy what you have to say and I am learning so I thank you for that. However, I feel like you are gently lecturing me. I would like to see more examples of what you are talking about. I think it would be helpful to your viewers.
Chico’s , White House Black Market , Shepherds, and many other stores alike do modelling with real women in their 50’s and beyond . I watch those videos. I would love to see a video on preppy fall styles .
When I moved south three years ago. It took me a while to get used to the heat. So I had a lot of white shirts. Now that I’m used to it. I’ve changed my tops to a lot of other colors. I definitely used to wear clothes and shoes that weren’t comfortable. But I don’t do it anymore. I’m dressing for the body I have now. Not the body I used to have. I don’t wear makeup anymore. I have it. I just don’t feel like using it. I used to wear everyday. And when I retired. I wore makeup when I went out in public. Now I don’t use it at all. Maybe someday I will again. I always wear sunscreen. And I’ve tried a lot of different brands and tinted ones. And I go back to my favorite every time. I do like change. But in fashion only. I actually bought some kitten heeled shoes, boots and mules. And I was so surprised that they were comfortable. So I will be wearing them. Probably not in my driveway. But out in public. I will keep other shoes in our truck so I don’t break my neck when I get out and have to walk into the house.
I have definitely embraced comfort in my clothing but when I go out to a restaurant, for instance, I definitely want to wear something that I’d semi fitted.
I have always worn good quality classic clothes. Many are well over 40 years old. At nearly 72 years old, people still comment on how well I am dressed. I have to laugh, when asked where I brought that Jacket coat, dress or what ever, I smile and say, "it is so long ago, I can't remember" I don't spend a lot of money per year. Possibly between £350.-£500 . Obviously I have gained weight but only a small amount. In fact only one dress size. So now an English size 12. I have a large amount of costume jewelry collected from the 1960's. Scarves over the same amount of time. So never waste money on cheap fast fashion. It is false economy.

I never tire of being reminded to look for "elevated" and "basic pieces".

Totally agree with high quality basics being overlooked. I buy them now and see that they are the necessary workhorse of a wardrobe!

Great video, you are so 'real' with your advice. Some shots of 'before and after' would be even better.
Thanks for your kind words and your feedback, Lee! 🥰
Your videos always give great suggestions. I’m at the end of my sixties and hopefully these all apply to me too!
Love your channel ❤

A couple of your points sure hit home as issues I have. Thanks for the video!!

Style and comfort - I love it, Love your videos - you have reignited my love of Lilly Pulitzer, live in Florida so I can wear it all year long!!
You are so on point!! My mom used to teach me the very same things!!
Thanks so much - your mom knew best!😍

Do you have a recommendation for where to purchase quality plus sized clothing?

What is the brand and style of your glasses?
I’m with you no more uncomfortable clothes 😬
A friend told me that I tend to wear "feely" clothes. She was right. Texture is definitely part of my personal style.
Yes, the words polished and quality are so preferable to expensive

LOL - good idea, Jill! 🤣
Cost per wear is hugh! (ALthough I still "over buy"....) I always go for quality and it pays off!

That's an excellent point! 🤩
Do you have advice for supportive full coverage bras that are still comfortable? I need a full underpinnings edit☺️ Thank you🤍

What about 70-80 years???
Hi Sharon, absolutely anyone over 50 is included! 🥰
I’d love a nice white blouse but white is always too sheer for my taste.
How about a video on chic black dresses OVER 50? I feel like there are copious amounts of skimpy and frumpy and very little classy.
How about a skirt and top instead? I have a black wrap top and flowy midi skirt that look good together.
