    My man, this is the type of content I want to see more on TH-cam. The old school tips and tricks straight forward video, without and chit-chat and sponsors. This was a great video to watch and I didn't feel like I've been wasting my life on it. This is rare! And for this video I thank you and you got yourself another subscriber. Have a great day!

    10:00 a use case for uploading from the inventory is when you're out exploring you can store items you find around and still leave your inventory clear for other stuff, specially at the beginning where the slot amount is more limited.
    Or maybe if you have a full inventory and don't want to go back to drop everything at your base because you're far away and just found one more sommersloop lying around. Goes right to the depot :)

      @Anson_AKB 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      upload from inventory will also be usefull while you can't simply download single items from the cloud, eg when you need 5 token for the shop, you have to grab at least a full stack of coupons. to get rid of that surplus, you need to upload them again asap, as well as all the random stuff that you have or find or can't make yourself, eg nuts, berries, mushrooms (to later make inhalers from them), or more mercer spheres or somersloops, or animal remains (if you want to use them later at your factory, for better bonus in a machine with somersloop, instead of building temporary workbenches all the time), or random highlevel items you find at crash sites, etc.
      if you have researched high capacity and high upload speed in the end, as well as have upload containers for almost anything, you can simply trash/delete such surplus and let it quickly be refilled by the factory, but for many people that might take a while to replenish them from a small factory, and uploading them again from the inventory might speed it up a lot.
      after finding the first sphere (to get it on the scanner after research in the MAM) those ~10 next spheres should be relatively easy to find in a short exploration run, to *build one cloud storage for uploading from a normal or industrial storage container (just drop ONE full stack of everything into the container and let it upload for hours in the background while you continue playing),* as well as the first research of each of those three research branches (probably first speed, then upload from inventory, then size, since they all are cheap at 3 spheres each). after that initial setup, i added more upload containers for those items that are needed for building workbench, workshop, MAM, and wires/cables while i am exploring (nothing worse than missing an ingredient to make a workbench and not being able to craft ANYTHING when standing right next to a distant iron, copper or limestone node at the opposite side of the world).
      btw: small "cheat" is to misuse the 5 upload slots in the inventory just as almost normal inventory slots when you quickly need to collect something or sort the inventory.

    9:23 The description is confusing, but the upload speeds aren't diminishing returns - each one doubles your speed from the previous stage.
    I think what the numbers are meant to convey is "you can now upload items in 25% of the base time"; then 12.5% of the base time (twice as fast), then 6.25% of the base time (twice as fast again), etc.

    • @Anson_AKB
      @Anson_AKB 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      YES, "travel/upload speed" and "time to travel a specific distance" or "time to upload a specific amount" are just opposites of each other.
      many people mix up their thoughts that they want to tell about speed and that you need less time, and then use the wrong words in their description.
      "less time needed" (100%, 50%, 25%, 12.5%, 6.25%) = "higher speed" (x1, x2, x4, x8, x16)
      edit: it seems to happen to lots of programmers, using a variable for "ticks or time between items" to calculate and measure "speed" ("items per tick or time")

    Nobody ever notices. When aligning mergers and splitters, there is a line. If the line is green on one end and red on the other, you can't put down a conveyor belt to connect them. It's easy to not get those guys turned right, and this really does help. I've never heard anyone point it out. Good video, mate. Good contribution.

    I use the upload from inventory constantly, it's a godsend when you're out exploring for squirreling away all the high level parts you find around crash sites as well as Alien remains that would otherwise clog up the inventory. It's also good for storing and retrieving tools that you don't use often. Like when I'm exploring I don't need to be carrying around my Chainsaw, my Boombox, or my Zipline all the time. But, I might need to grab it occasionally and then put it away again. Or when I'm building I don't always need my Rebar Gun and all my ammo, my Nobelisk Detonator, or my Object scanner for example, so I can just store them away and grab them really easily.

    • @koolkevin2357

      I am planning on this route also - for the same reasons! I could use it now as I explore! Good use point.

    Uploading from your inventory is great while you're out exploring, especially early on when your inventory is small. You can upload all the slugs, creature remains, and random stuff you find at crash sites, and keep space in your inventory.

    upload from inventory is great when exploring. it allows storing things you find that you dont need on hand now. like mercer spheres, slugs, wood, leafs, sloops, etc. Helps keep your inventory clear. also random finds like computers can be uploaded. Also i would prioritize storage in the depot over speed. If you start automating the important depot uploads then the speed isn’t threat relevant after the first one or two if you can store more stacks already.

    2:12 - the buildmode can be changed to "blueprint" and they should snap to each other
    so that it should be easy to build a whole plane from those "6x6 platforms" blueprints.
    my "biggest" problem with them was to completely remove them when i had placed them overlapping the landscape
    (having part of them underground) and later deleted single foundations from that, leaving some hidden foundations behind.

  • @Anson_AKB
    @Anson_AKB 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    using the big "power tower poles" for ziplining was already possible in update 8, as well as ziplining along "wall attachment pole plugs" at a ceiling under some platforms. in both cases you will have no problems crashing into power poles, and you only have to watch for the angle of the connections at intersections or splits. i think the maximum is to deviate by 60 degrees horizontally from the previous direction, using only 45 degrees myself to always be on the safe side. vertical changes of the angle may be more critical, especially when turning upwards or turning vertically and horizontally at the same time, while turning downwards would make you "push into the wire" and thus be less critical.
    it is also possible to attach catwalks to the tower poles, so that you easily land on "safe ground" when leaving the zipline and not falling to the ground.
    "hold to sprint" is an option that determines whether the hotkey for sprinting needs to be held down or whether it toggles sprinting on and off. when set to "toggle" (option "hold" is turned off) it will stay that way (do not use the hotkey every time you start ziplining again) until you switch that option again, press the hotkey again, or are spawned the next time (on loading a save or after death). that hotkey can also be changed to a different key so that you don't accidentally toggle running on or off all the time when using the shift key for different purposes (eg shift-click for moving stacks of items) or when touching it by accident (mistyping shift instead of ctrl). i have set mine to a "far away" key on my keyboard, eg one of the keys to the right of "0" (on my german keyboard "ß" :-) and now push it only once immediately after a respawn.

      I went through three stages over my current 2500 hours play time:
      1. Build nothing on world grid.
      2. Build everything on world grid.
      3. Build some things on world grid.
      Why only some things now? My main builds are on the main grid. My outpost builds for miners, bridges, and other things are off the world grid since their flow with terrain is more important than uniformity with other larger builds.
