Stephen Stills, Lowell George, Terry Kath, Carol King, Paul Simon, John Fogerty, Marvin Gaye, and the list goes on. What an incredible generation of singer-songwriters in that era. We were spoiled!
Thanks for the great sound. I agree with all the comments. As a 18 year old in 1967 I remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard this song. I knew I was listening to something special.
We had a steamroller factory here in Springfield, Ohio & it was called Buffalo Springfield. One of the machines was parked on the street in California when the band members noticed it & saw the name Buffalo Springfield on it & thought it would be a great name for their group.
Great classic song. Brings back fond memories of my much younger days. Good friends, good times, things were so much simpler then.😍 And, we got along just fine without computers and smart phones.
@@martindowling9014 That’s very cool!✌️ My son’s an infantry combat Marine WIA by an IED in Afghanistan - Operation Enduring Freedom - Purple Heart recipient. Great protest song from the 60's and the enhancement to the video makes so much difference. The 1960's was a time of war, racial disturbances, assassinations, but also a time of great music and love.
@JohnShinn1960... This performance was from "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" this episode original aired February 26, 1967, feature guests were Betty Davis, Bob Crane, Buffalo Springfield, Pat Paulsen, and shown on CBS Network
"Stop, children, what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down......." God, I never dreamed those lyrics would be so relevant and actual again. And they are, even more than the first time around.
man look how young they are - especially young with those huge sideburns. richie furay went on to POCO - the first band that fused a country sound with rock - before anyone had ever heard of the EAGLES. if you can find a video of POCO doing 'you better think twice ' please post it. thank you for letting me relive my youth !
Iconic group and song. Love their music and the music from all their descendants. What a treat to here this song and to see the video! Thanks so much.😊👍
Haha!🌪️ Good One! I miss the look of long hair and a touch of sideburns on men from back then, my guy friends etc… You’re on point here - the “hairy” 60s-70s.
Oooh! I LOVE Buffalo Springfield & especially this song, this sounds & looks GREAT!! I Visited Nashville, TN a couple months ago & went downtown - it was fantastic! I was dancing along down the sidewalks, as live music was pouring out of the open windows/doorways! Went to the “Country Music Hall of Fame Museum.” My favorite part was the: California Country Rock Bands connection; Buffalo Springfield, Poco, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, The Byrds, The Flying Burrito Brothers, Michael Nesmith, CCR, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band etc…musical pioneers-geniuses.
I’m reminded of that old saying: “what’s old is new again.” It seems that despite all our best efforts we are still essentially uncaring about others. Even if it means we hurt ourselves!
My top 3 songs of all time ( for me). No1 San Francisco (wear some flowers in your hair). No 2 : Thunderclap Newman Something in the air. No 3 this song.
I felt the need to hear this song, as it is very relevant to today. Young people protesters speaking their minds, and also many feel empowered by social media believing all they hear. As they comment they must be careful, as a soldier you step out of line the enemy takes you away. Masterpiece is this song
Good song. But I think the lyrics, especially the line, "young people speaking their minds..." has not aged well. On the one hand, yes the Vietnam War came to an end partly because of student protests. On the other? Most all the hippies sold out and became just more businessmen, especially Robert Zimmerman. These days, James Taylor, Stephen Stills and Neil Young are all grumpy old men who embrace government overreach and socialism. Color me cynical and disillusioned.

It's time to bring this song back for today's troubles.
RIGHT!!!
I never knew what they looked like until today.
A true masterpiece of rock music history from the sixties.
So true. I c'ant get this out of my mind its so good.

Lennon McCartney
Joni Mitchell
Thanks for including Marvin Gaye!
Lot a good ones in every age. Including now.
The maturity of the song writing is incredible.
Relevant today
Thanks for the great sound. I agree with all the comments. As a 18 year old in 1967 I remember where I was and what I was doing the first time I heard this song. I knew I was listening to something special.
He look so darn good in that sheriff hat ❤❤❤
Stephen sure does - even with a missing tooth ha! He’s still handsome, I love his smile
Mercy
I wore out a 45 of this back in the 60s. I still love it and it is still relevant today.
One of the best songs EVER
Anthem of the 60s😮
The best, when music was real and not the electronically enhanced BS they put pot today. Makes me happy to have grown up in the 60's.
Iconic 60s song!
Love this song reminds me of someone I hold very dear to my heart ❤
It really is, lyrics, guitar it has it all.

Then you joined the establishment.
Young people speaking their minds, are getting so much resistance from behind…
This song has a lot of meaning to it to me I think it's the truth and step out of line man come and take you away❤❤
Four men, from one band and so much music to contribute to the future generations!
I worked for Gibson Guitar back then, and I was involved in making that guitar for the lead singer.

True. But you can't have great music without the other.
About the unrest on The Sunset Strip in ‘66 or ‘67. There were a handful of artists who wrote tunes to comment on those events!
Thanks for a great All Time Classic
Glad you enjoyed it...thanks.
A class song with a classy swing to it!!Fabulous!!❤
Thanks Dave!
Still such a fine song 🎵 sounds great, Smurf!
Thank you very much, Karen.

That's exactly what I was thinking! 🤠
This was originally on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour because there's Tom Smothers at 0:31
and Dick Smothers at 1:41.

Neil had one hell of a set sideburns didn't he
To create mood and atmosphere with music is a craft many attempt but few pull of successfully. This is how its done
This song applies today the same as the 60s
I keep visualizing Squad of Huey's coming in over elephant grass, to drop newbies, supplies and pick up wounded....... listening to this. 🇻🇳
Powerful then, powerful now! Thanks-very nice work.

Know i am 61 years old.
Still love it. Music tape.
Those are not sideburns on Neil’s face. They’re military grade Velcro strips attached to his hair. They’ve got some wicked tornados in Canada.

The music from the sixty tells the truth
Neil Young hidden in the background for most of the song.

This is why I'm searching for this video. Was that Tommy? It seems random enough to be Tommy. Was this recorded on the Smothers Brothers Show?

I wonder who the musician with his back turned, at the end of this video, was?
I totally dig that song, but why is he smiling the whole time there’s nothing to smile about the Vietnam war
Tommy Smothers was making him smile.
