I was at a Christmas party in 1970 and this song was on the stereo. When it was over everyone wanted to hear it again. We must've played it 10 times in a row. I think of that night, some of the people are gone now, but it was a great party that night.

@@miakodemelo I'm for anything that helps people overcome addiction, be it psychology, medicine, yoga or voodoo. But nothing/nobody can help addicts who don't want to be helped. Millions of people have indeed received God's grace in the form of recovery from addiction. Seems to me that God's grace happens for people who want it and are willing to take the action needed to receive it. Maybe some addicts simply want to get high or drunk more than they want to be helped. Freedom of choice comes with consequences, and that's not God's fault.

    One pill makes you larger
And one pill makes you small,
And the ones that mother gives you
    Don't do anything at all.
    Go ask Alice
    When she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits
And you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah smoking caterpillar
    Has given you the call.
    Call Alice
    When she was just small.
When the men on the chessboard
Get up and tell you where to go
And you've just had some kind of mushroom
And your mind is moving low.
    Go ask Alice
    I think she'll know.
    When logic and proportion
    Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
    Remember what the dormouse said:
"Feed your head. Feed your head. Feed your head"

I'm 68. Going back to 1970; I was 17, in love with this song and with Grace Slick. June of that year my brother and I went to the Bath Festival to hear Airplane live for the first time (and take mescalin for the first time!) Sure enough, the Airplane eventually came out on stage and got into their set. After about an hour in it started to rain, Paul Kantner got an electric shock from his mic and they duly headed off stage. Without playing this song. Interestingly enough, and possibly because of the mescalin, I was convinced for years that I heard them play it ....

Hallucinagens are not an intelligent substance to even experiment with. You do realize when you are old (if you do not overdose first), that you will be subject to bouts of amnesia and other mental illnesses, as a result of altering your neural pathways when you were of a younger age?

    • @zebulonsatrap8020

@Philanthropy & Listen, don't try to justify doing hallucinagens under the guise of 'it will not alter my neural pathways and abilities now or later in life'.
Studies are even showing marijuana as having negative effects of psychological processes at elder ages. Uh, but HELLO, what kind of IDIOT in their right mind, regardless of the chemical (caffeine or LSD), would not suspect any alterations in their neural network?
      Uh, HELLO. Common sense.

It's a great day to pop the top on the old jeep and take it out for a while even if the only hair that gets in your eyes is from your beard these days.
