@@truebetold65 Thanks. First off, I remember that we were disappointed that Sullivan wasn't there personally to do their introduction. I remember that an off-stage announcer did the duties. Obviously the number was simply spliced into the actual show with Ed's intro. The audience (probably around 200), were enthusiastic and seated in folding chairs around this makeshift stage in the middle of the casino. I remember we moved on shortly after the Chamber's number because this wasn't like a normal show with one act after another introduced by Ed.

It is played over the PA system in the store between the hours of 4 and 7 pm which is when they play music from the 60's. I guess they do it at all the other Walgreens stores as well. To say that it's an iconic song is an understatement. It takes me back to a time in which I hadn't even been born yet. It sounds crazy but it does. I’m 75 and still love that song. I graduated high school the year of its original release. Young people rebelling and so intent on changing racial disharmony and bringing an end to the Vietnam war. A war in which over 58,000 young Americans died for absolutely nothing. One of the saddest times in American history

I’m with you big brother, 10 years younger than you. Love this song when it first came out and still love it! Yes a sad time back then.

The guy that played bass on the record played at our wedding! We knew the music store they used to come to in Brooklyn. All musicians & the mom made their first outfits!

This is a good song. Everyone recognizes it. But I think the most remarkable thing about the song is the iconic studio version -- the production quality was excellent. It just had that vintage late sixties sound.

Man I always loved these guys! They were unique. I like their version of " People Get ready" I like the lead in this song. But all have good range. It's good to see Lester Chambers and son doing better after an experience of poverty.
