Well Sister Sledge....don't feel bad. I did the EXACT same thing. I was carrying two 20 x 20 paintings in each hand and I do not know what I was thinking. Oh yeah...I wasn't. So, down I went. Yes, the stairs in my house are as steep as friggin Mount Everest, but alas.....that's no excuse. I did a full on Chevy Chase... and down I went. I ended up breaking my right foot. Specifically, my "Talus bone". I didn't even KNOW what a Talus bone WAS...OR that I had one. I sure do now. 6 weeks in a cast. THAT was fun. I managed to go 57 years with no broken bones. My lucky streak was broken. (no pun intended). Stay safe and tread those stairs with care. It's a jungle out there. :)
I did miss you! Holy cow woman! I’m glad you’re feeling better now but please be more careful , we don’t want our Lou breaking/severly spraining stuff.
I felt your pain seeing the pictures. Hope you make a speedy recovery! One time I missed the last step of my basement steps and caught myself so I didn't fall but banged the wall with my head and had a nice egg for awhile lol
OUCH‼ I dropped my computer on my big toe. You can clearly see the point of impact. And the bruising is infiltrating my foot. But good grief, when you said you heard the crunch, I went 😖*shudder in horror* irl. Happy healing 🦶. It does look better from the earlier pics 👍
Of course we noticed you were not posting. I'm so sorry to hear about your injury. I have done that before as well . Slipped on the carpet though . Honestly wasn't doing anything out of the norm. But I am careful now as well . Good.tips! Thanks for.sharimg. 😖
Tis the season for ankle injuries. Seems like so many people are going into fall with somw sort of i jury. I, myself, broke/sprained my ankle at the end of July just stepping out of my front door. Love the idea of healing during slippery winter.
I did the same in April. First break. I missed the last two stairs while rushing down in the dark to take out trash. I am sad about having to pay attention because I have always been so care free but I don’t want to repeat. I count the stairs silently just to make myself mindful. I need to start lifting weights again as I think it does help everything
I am so glad you are on the mend! I myself am healing from an injury where I was not paying attention. I have an 18 inch high metal decorative garden fence around a flower bed that is about 5 years old. I was going to put a small sprinkler in the middle of the bed (which I have done time and time again) and I was looking at a new flower that opened, didn’t lift my leg the 18 inches and the toe of my shoe caught the top of the fence and I went splat into the flower bed. My shin looked like your foot and ankle. It has taken about 6 weeks for it to be back to normal ! If I wasn’t 71, I probably would have bounced back up and gone on my merry way. Paying attention to what you are doing and to your surroundings is major! Heal quickly! 🙏
I live in a 4th floor walk up. Being a person who has fallen down stairs too many times, rolled/sprained my ankles/broke my left foot repeatedly, I've had to become exceedingly cautious. When carrying things down the stairs, I go backward and use the stairs as a shelf as I go - step by step. I never carry anything that requires both arms/hands in front of me. When bringing things upstairs, I do the reverse of taking things downstairs. I 'crab-walk' down the stairs when wearing heels, holding the rail behind me.
Indeed! Thank you for the reminders-especially in taking time. Times I’ve fallen were when I was rushing. I’m about to adopt 2 kitties so I have to get used to them being underfoot again. Heal well - I absolutely love your videos!
I fell down my stairs almost 2 years ago. I hold the handrails now. Thank God I didn’t break my neck. I fell head first. Also I felt the same way. Just had a friend on instagram who just fell down her stairs. I do think it’s a age thing, not staying focused
Oh no! That sucks! I recently broke my Pinky toe and yeah, I can totally relate. I'm 38 and this is my first serious injury. It absolutely takes it out of you mentally. Also physically your whole body hurts.
I never really broke something for a long time so much it landed me in hospital, my stairs do have a railing and i did hold myself onto it when i slipped down the stairs and it hurt my shoulder so hard. I couldn’t lift my kids up on the left side. I had in that time a daycare to run at home so that sucked and i fell down one time for fetching my sons bottle just tree stairs and nicked a tiny bit of my kneecap of. The only thing i broke was my big toe on my left foot and it wasn’t by falling. We had a german shepherd and she was silly and didn’t want to do the command sit front, so my husband in a silly mood said look Eri I’ll show you the kids watching dad being funny, he went on hands and knees and came over so fast floor slippery and he slides against my big toe i heard a snap, i had a hot-flash and felt bit dizzy so sat down he thought i was joking! But my toe swollen up he wanted me to go to the hospital i said its broken they can’t fix that! (Was a nurse aid in at home service then) i taped three toes together kept on laced shoes and got to work going forward, icing it when home. Later our GP was angry at me because i have Bechterew an form of rheumatoid illness that calcify soft tissue too. I said i fell out of trees, down hills, car crash, from horses never broke anything and one time doing silly things and that was that we still joke about it.
Falling at any age is no joke, esp. the older you become. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Thank you!
Nice PSA for National Fall Prevention Awareness Month! Hope you heal quickly 💜

Love the glasses, by the way. Do a video on what glasses to buy for face shapes next!
I'm glad you're relatively ok, Lou. Great reminders for all ages!

Oh Lou! That looks so painful. I hope you're back to 100% and soon. Thanks for the reminder and stay safe, gorgeous! xoxo

Also I love the TH-cam channel Michigan Foot Doctor. So helpful

I’ll be wearing heels in a few weeks to a wedding. I’ll keep these tips in mind.
I'm glad that you're okay. I'm the same way. I like to do things myself, but I needed the reminder to ask for help and pay attention.
That looks like it really hurt! Good tips. Stairs are no joke.
That ankle looked bad! Glad you're recovering!
It look better every day!!
Ouch! ❤

"Tall, strong strapping woman"! 🤣 Agreed! (How tall are you? Dutch tall or regular tall?)
Regular tall 5'9"
I don't fall down the stairs I fall up the stairs 😅 but then again I'm 69 and am sadly off balance. I hope your 💯 better Lou. 🎉

I’m 57. It scares me falling. I’m clutsy!!
Lou- how are you?? Miss you & hope you’re well!
Maybe NEVER carry 60 lbs of anything down, or up stairs.
