Don't be upset, Jessica ... "strange" isn't necessarily bad .... "strange" can be born one month late like I was!!!! My little 5'3" mom gave birth to THREE, count 'em three 9+ pound babies. I was exactly 9 lbs and that's because I was born a whole month late ... my mom said she was pregnant with me FOREVER. My 2 brothers were "regular" term and both over 9 lb .... just porkers in the womb. LOL.
My only "baby eats" comment is ... vegan kids are fine. Kids do, of course, need some different nutrients and substances than adults, especially adults that tend to put on weight if they are not vigilant. I'd say, do some research into fats in childrens' diets. I know you two don't eat oils and fats that much, but it can be very important for development (especially brain development) and a soft, shiny coat (oh wait, that second part is for dogs - oops). Anyway, there were never two more loving and concerned parents-in-waiting, you guys will do fine. It's literally not rocket surgery --- babies are much more flexible and adaptable than people think. Just have fun.

You all are so wise. I have a daughter 33, & a son 32. When they were in their testy, teen years, I begged them to please not make the same mistakes I did!! I prayed they would be original in their mistakes! LOL. We all survived their teen & college years. They are incredibly amazing, passionate & loving young adults!! My 32 year old son is a proud husband and father of two precious little girls. My son & his wife are expecting they’re 3rd baby in April 2024! Children are God’s gift to all of us to see the light of our future!!❤❤❤❤❤🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Trust me she won’t care if you catch a peak. Stand by her shoulder that way you can see, but not see directly. No corner, this is your daughter and you should be close too. I am so excited for you. When I was in my mid 20’s to have a surrogate was frowned soon. As a woman in her 60’s my nieces and nephews were shared with me and now their children. As a retired L&D nurse I cried at every birth. Can’t wait for you to be parents.

Where you live (what could possibly be better than little Elsie living in a home with four people that love ❤️ her dearly, have her best nutrition at heart and would never let any harm come to her)? 14 years after our biological son was born we adopted a baby. I worried that I would not be able to bond with a child I didn’t give birth to. All of the worries disappeared when he was born. It was instant. Loved him from the start. That baby turned 18 today! Would not change a thing!

Hi Brian and Jessica... just started watching your videos and am amazed at the grace of God upon you both! You are an amazing couple and I am so very thankful that you are blessed to be the awesome parents of sweet Elsie! I love that name because it was also the name of my grandmother. As for what you choose to feed Elsie, I admire your comments about whatever it takes, you will do it. Bravo! My son was also carried by someone else and I did not have the opportunity to breastfeed... after trying non dairy "formulas" I was led to a Scripture in the Bible, which I believe to be an answer to my prayer, found in Proverbs 27:27 You shall have enough goats' milk for your food, for the food of your household, and the nourishment of your maidservants. I believed in my hearth that was my answer! Certainly not to say that it is for you. But I fed my son raw goats' milk and he truly flourished, and thanks be to God has never been sick... and he is now 14 years old. I do not believe that it is only the goats' milk but I do believe it was a benefit. Follow your hearts and you will make the right decision. Love to you both, and Elsie too 🙂 And I also want to mention that I ate a vegan diet at that time and continue now with WFPB vegan diet. But we do what we need to for others ♥️

My niece took her baby in for a wellness check. The Dr. asked her if he was on 'stage 2 foods.' My niece was confused and said, " He eats what we eat, I just grind the food up! The Dr, pronounced him to be a totally healthy child. Her kids are not picky, and to this day, they eat what the family is eating without a fuss. (She did breast feed when they were infants.)

I am so excited for you both! I remember the anticipation of waiting for our children, both adopted as infants. We had worries about bonding, but the minute we held them, all those worries evaporated. Regarding feeding, they thrived on a soy-based formula during that first year. They're now both happy and healthy adults, starting families of their own.
You will be wonderful parents! We all worry about making mistakes, and everyone does. Just remember to not be afraid to say, "I'm sorry, I was wrong."

I raised two daughters vegetarian, telling them as they matured if they wanted to eat otherwise when out with friends, that would be their choice. They each tried chicken nuggets once and decided to stick with a veggie diet, and at the ages of 40 and 43 still eat that way. I will say I've been vegan/WFPB for about 8 years now and they choose to not join in that.

You two will be amazing parents!
Maybe its because we have always lived in a SDA community where all the families were vegetarian/plant based. but I know if not breastfed the babies get whatever formula is best, and many formulas are soy based. In fact, both stages of Similac Gold ® are suitable for vegetarians.

I can't believe people are asking about you not having your own house. That is the least of it after what you've been going through for the past couple of years. To have had Brian's loving parents as a refuge during your hard times is a blessing. I am so happy for you both. It sounds exactly like you have your ducks in a row. And if you know ducks, they actually don't always swim in a straight line - and that is totally how life is. It's never a straight line. I love that you love music, you want to travel and write cook books while your little one absorbs it all like a sponge. I've been following you since the beginning from Australia and I am always surprised by the judgement in many questions about your medical treatment, Jessica, the lack of understanding that big weight loss is always a rocky road (again NOT a straight line), and now about your housing situation. I am just so, so happy and relieved that you are well Jessica. You've kind of both been to hell and back, and I look at you now and feel massive relief that you've both emerged with so much wonderful ahead you both, plus one beautiful baby in the near future.

So glad you got to learn this stuff before having a child! I didn’t figure all this out until my kids had kids already. From what I see from plant based parents who have raised plant based children, they don’t feel like they’re missing out when they get older, they feel sorry for the other kids who’s parents don’t know any better. They appreciate being well loved and cared for.

I really enjoyed this video so much. You two are glowing...even without the sun. Even with critical comments about stuff that is really not anyone's business but your own. Whatever you are doing right now, keep it up because you seem genuinly happy.

Love the way Brian said the baby will be eating food!😂 to whoever asked that dumb question. I Can assure you what they feed that baby won’t make you poop!
Also, cheering in the background about baby Elsie’s plant based future! 💚💚💚💚
Who the Krocks live with is not increasing those haters’ light bills and Elsie isn’t going to be keeping them up at night! TROLLS!
Your own space will be great when y’all are ready.
So very happy for y’all! Blessings and good vibes to y’all.

Love the way you opened this video. My guess for Elsie’s birth is 10/13/23. Happy to hear you all are feeling better. Seriously rest while you can. Love your curls and the headbands. Feed your baby your way along with the Dr.s input. Totally your business. Wishing you many new & wonderful met!

My husband and I are in awe at every new development in our 10 & 11 yo’s lives. Baby years are so fun and precious (SAVOR them!) but, yes, getting to know our girls as people is so beautiful ❤
Best of luck to you all!

If I were you I'd buy child psychology books on child rearing, and only those that give alternatives to spanking. Even the mildest forms of spanking are psychologically harmful to children. I know your minds will be on the baby stuff, but if you're well prepared ahead of time, it will make it easier to raise an older child. Although it's not perfect, I'd start with Children: the Challenge by Rudolf Dreikurs. It's an old book that introduces basic child psychology. I wouldn't recommend it as the only book on child rearing though, just the first one as an introduction.

This might seem silly, but I wonder if your daughter is going to have the same pinky finger. I think one time you said it was genetic or someone else in your family has it. As for being a good dad, I'm sure you'll nail it. I always loved learning from my dad. Our favorite show to watch together was Gunsmoke.

That’s the first thing we will check 😂 yes it’s hereditary on my mom’s side… my grandfather, mother and one of my brothers have it but none of my nephews or my niece does!
