We are Brian & Jessica, a married couple who started on a life-changing whole food, plant-based weight loss journey back in June 2018. In June 2022, our lives were flipped upside-down when Jessica was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer. We continue to share our adventures (highs, lows, struggles & everything in between) in following a plant-based diet while keeping you up-to-date on Jessica's cancer journey. In October 2023, we welcomed our very first child via gestational carrier.

I completely understand your concern about "getting cancer back" fear. You do have trauma from having cancer the further you are out of your diagnosis the less the worries will be your first thought. I'm 17 clear now and living life to the fullest ❤.

Very good news in general. This is a good example of why there is no way you should be looking at the results when you get that message. At Mayo we are lucky that they have the consult shortly after scans...just wait next time Jessica. Thanks for the update.
I wish the doctors around where I live would actually listen when you push for things. I've had times where I have pushed my doctors, they get annoyed and send me on my way. I've even been marked as "difficult to deal with" in medical notes because I push for things. The medical field in the US is really not great and most doctors in the US are not great sadly.
I have been fired from a couple of practices.
Sadly, things have not gotten better. I was turned away twice by two different physicians in 1970-1971. Both stated they could not find anything physically wrong with me. I was young and scared they were going to commit me to a mental institution. If not for the third physician, I would have died.
Keep searching for a physician who always believes you..always. Take a trusted member of your family or a trusted friend with you to your appointments..patient advocate.
You are labeled as difficult because you can not be controlled. The Dr. would have to actually care, listen, and run tests. Please continue to search for a qualified physician. Always trust yourself. Not someone would has MD after their name. You matter!
My sister died of advanced cancer because she was gas lit by her doctor. By the time she was admitted to hospital it was too late. My beautiful sister was only 48. BE YOUR OWN ADVOCATE!!!
I have problems with medical trauma because of rheumatoid arthritis and finally recognizing I've always had ADHD and my primary doctor diagnosing me with C-PTSD. I'm greatful that my primary doctor understands I'm a bit reluctant with over medicating myself and agreed to put me on an antistimulant ADHD medication while someone else was pushing a highly addictive antidepressant which didn't feel like an actual good fit for me. Even if I'm wrong my primary care doctor is willing to test if I ask.
I saw U2 20 years ago in Boston. It was amazing! I can only imagine how wondrous it will be at Sphere. I am literally caught up on all my health and cancer screenings now for the first time in 10 years. I had a vulva cancer diagnosis 1.5 years ago. Fortunately mine was basal cell and I was cancer free on removal. Also, love seeing you both with baby girl. There is such a special bond between Daddies and their little girls
God works in mysterious ways. A dear friend lost her small grandson, Gabe, a little over a year ago. I had gone to their Go Fund Me page that Gabe’s parents church had set when we were still praying for Gabe’s miracle to be on earth instead of heaven. After I had made a donation on his page, another Go Fund Me popped up that said someone I knew was supporting that page. I read the information and it was Jennifer’s original page. I felt the Lord was leading me to donate to Jennifer’s page and I did. I would get notices that there was an update occasionally and I would go to her page. I continued to donate to the Gravely family until Jennifer passed and then I saw your TH-cam video that week about your dear friend. I have no idea how I was lead to Jennifer’s page. It has never happened before that I saw. I am not on FB very much and I know I miss lots of post but this time I saw it. I feel like the Lord led me to that page and to your videos for a reason. I am hanging in there waiting for that reason to be revealed to me.💕
Sometimes the Lord puts you in a place to read and learn so you can be His voice.❤
Glad to hear you are both over your brief illness and that you are progressing well. Jessica so pleased you are relaxed about your test results, your doctors seem amazing and, like you say are monitoring your health so well. I think you are probably fine not to have any further concerns at present. It’s lovely to see Brian with Elsie and your smile Jessica watching over them both in your new home. Also a cancer survivor. I’ve watched your channel for years. I am happy to say I am back to whole foods plant based eating. Towards the nutritarian side of things. Feeling better than I have in years. Also exercising and losing weight with it.
I have to start chemo again on the 18th. They are great at watching me too my lymph nodes 4 have grown over the past few months. The maintenance drug Zejule didn't work for me. Thank ful that my Jesus has me in his hands. Praying for you guys. Have a great week.
Zejula stopped working for me after a year. I did an Mvasi and Toxil then I think. Then I tried Elahere, and that stopped working too. I have done s a few unsuccessful Clinical trials, went back to a previous chemo cocktail which is not working again. They are running out of options for me. I am going to try and get into the Wee1 trial in a few weeks after my scan. I would love to hear anything you wish to share. I always get excited to hear from fellow "Survivors. I’m glad you all are feeling better! Babies get ear infections due to their anatomy. It just happens, you did nothing wrong! Babies don’t come with instructions unfortunately. 😊 My 10 year old grandson complained of mild neck pain last Saturday. I could feel that his lymph nodes were a little swollen. The next day he was sick as a dog. Flu A. He’s fine now. Have a great week!

Take care of Elsie and all the stuff going on in your life. The first house my husband and I bought was a fixer-upper, so I understand how that can eat into your life and take up all your time!
I have learned not to look at the results without my doctor. I was freaked out for 2 weeks waiting for an appointment after having a CT of my lungs. I googled the meaning and had myself dead and buried in a year. The dr said oh that’s nothing. I looked at the actual scan and it’s just a bit of inflammation and a tiny bit of scarring. So all that worry for nothing. Praying nothing but the best for you and your family.

My first born had ear infection after ear infection. Her baby doc wanted to put in tubes. A patient of mine told me to take her to a chiropractor. I did and she never had another one.
Could you explain why/how. I don’t see a connection between what a chiropractor does and ear infection. My husband has problems with his ears and if I could understand how this might help him, I would try to get him to a chiropractor.

OMG!!! I live in KCMO and I have influenza A. I'm off this week from work with it. I started getting symptoms Saturday night. Then I gave it to my hubby and he is so much worse (smoker, no exercise, doesn't take vitamins, etc). I'll be praying for you. Baby Elsie is adorable!!
Fantastic news! I find it stressful before i have scans. I try not to be. And getting sick can set the panic button off. If i had done my colonoscopy as I should have, i would not be facing the issues i have. Like you, i am very bold about telling people. (I have low anterior resection syndrome). There was something on my last CT report, non cancer related, that has never been reported before. I was annoyed. My doctor said it was an over-zealous radiologist. Take care, be well, and enjoy life! ❤
I had tubes in my ears 3times and my son had so many ear infections as a baby. We finally got him tubes just after his first birthday; he’s 14 years old now and never an issue since! At least it is a fairly easy fix! Good to see you all again!

My daughter had ear infections as a baby and a friend referred me to a chiropractor. After being adjusted regularly she never had them again! I had actually scheduled tubes to be put in but cancelled the surgery. It might be worth a try.

Thanks to you both I’ve been advocating for myself after being ignored for months, but finally I’ve got a bunch of tests to be done and a colonoscopy yay. I hope it’s just my gluten intolerance and IBS but where I’ve been so unwell for months I’m very worried. So thank you 🙏 you are truly a wonderful couple and now you have a beautiful daughter. I’m looking back on some old cooking videos as I’m in the process of changing what I eat and going plant based apart from fish. I’m fasting just now and in 1st April I will be following your diet plan. Anyway it’s always a pleasure to see you all. Take care til next time, God bless you xxx

I think it’s totally understandable that medical facilities triggers those feelings. I had cancer in 2015 and it terrifies me when I have to go to the doctor and have medical tests done. It sucks. And yay for NED!! 🎉

Your story about going to Vegas brought back memories. When my daughter was about 18 months old, we flew to Colorado for my grandmother’s funeral. My daughter didn’t seem ill but on the flight home as soon as the plane pressurized, she vomit red all over me. I found out the next day she had an ear infection.

We went to see U2 in the sphere too! We loved it, but I swear that getting out of that place was the worst, and we stayed at the Venetian.
The Influenza A can make a person really ill So sorry it freaked you out but it’s so understandable. You’ve been through a lot. PTSD is real. Sorry about Brian and Elsie were a little under the weather too. But how great that you two got to get away. So cool. Elsie is so precious. Shes so cuuuuuuute! Brian, of course Her smile could melt the snow on the summit of Everest. She has you as parents!!!

I’m sure your oncologists do bloodwork too! In my case, with one blood test they can say “ your numbers here look great!”, “ no indication of recurrence “ ! I have had a time or two of suspicious ct scans too! But that blood work helped reassure me that all was well! It’s been 7+ years for me now, PTL.

A homeopathic way to treat ear infections are to mix one part white vinegar with one part rubbing alcohol. Then with a Qtip put on drop of solution in the ear. The vinegar heals and the rubbing alcohol dries the liquid in the ear. I have used this method many times with my four kids
