This recipe makes me want to try making veggie burgers or crumble again. I got so disgusted I haven’t even tried in over a year, besides the dog wouldn’t even eat crud anymore! Thank you Brian for the time and energy you have put into getting this “Burger” to a stage you are satisfied with..THANK you Krocks for all you do and share with us.
I made your Umami burger yesterday. I increased the onion and garlic powder to 1 teaspoon each, added to the food processor two teaspoons smoked paprika and 1/4 cup pea protein isolate (I need to research if that was nutritionally smart) plus 5 ounces diced steamed beets (for the nutrients and color). It looked like beef! It’s so tasty I’m having one for breakfast 🥰 Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks for getting this out to us before the Fourth of July. Going for it with corn and vegan potato salad. I love you two. You’re “just folks” and not pretentious. At a time when we’re away from our friends physically, you’re here to make us feel closer to humanity.
Thanks for this delicious recipe, Brian. You're so correct about the flavours. My partner "hates" olives and sun dried tomato but was very impressed with the burgers. Thankfully he didn't get a whiff of the mushroom powder either. I will be making these regularly!
What I really like about your recipes is that you have spices but you also focus on having a nice variety of flavorful ingredients. I feel like too many vegan recipes are like ONIONS AND GARLIC AND HOT SAUCE. Which my acid reflux hate LOL and SO READY for a good breakfast sausage recipe!!
I made these today and am blown away by the flavor and texture. I’ve had so many mushy burgers in the past that my expectations were very low. The texture of these is amazing. I love how the outside can get crispy. I cooked mine on an old George Foreman Grill and they came out perfectly. I can tell that I’m going to be eating a lot of burgers this summer!
I made them tonight. My omnivore husband declared them to be the best black bean burger I have ever served him. So happy we have this recipe in our box now so he has a healthy alternative to morningstar farms.
I just got done eating my last Brian’s Burger. They are definitely my go to burger from now on. I made my own WFPB Big Mac sauce and I was in heaven! Keep up the kitchen experiments. I love the fact that your recipes aren’t gimmicky, just real food.

Brian Brian Brian! OMG! This is by far the best bean burger I have ever tasted!! (Ive made many!!) The only non-mushy grill-able burger I've ever made! I didn't even put anything on it...I just wanted to taste the burger...this is a first for me! Thank you for the only recipe I'll be keeping and making and bringing to any cookouts I go to!...unless you come out w Version 2!

I like that you can keep this in the fridge and make burgers on demand. I don't like cooking, so I'm all about the quick and easy healthy recipes. Thanks!
Made this the other night and it's THE BEST "burger" recipe. Served it for company and it was a crowd-pleaser. Also, one of the easiest Bean burger recipes. I was curious to see how all the ingredients would turn out... Brian, you are a genius! Awesome flavor, texture, and cooked beautifully. :) Thank you!
I tried it, and it's amazing! It's probably even tastier than my first try, as I measured 15 oz of black beans I cooked in the IP, and a drained 15-oz can of black beans equals 9 oz drained. I've been sharing it to everyone I know who might like it. You've outdone yourself Brian!
Thank you. I greatly appreciate the time and effort you guys out into your videos and blog. It's obvious in all of the work you share, from details in measurements, in music, to clarity of audio and video, comparisons from past videos, growth, and amazing progress.

The food processor song is great! Reminds me of a Monkee's Show segment! I will make the patties before chilling. I have learned that is easier. I CAN'T WAIT TO MAKE THIS! I will use cashews and let you know and take a pic. We always have cashews for our oat milk. I do have to get mushrooms and olives (blehk!) Don't expect a true burger, kinda like don't expect a true cheese sauce; it's sauce.
@@MajiMarji Try using them anyway - you could just use a half portion. It will not taste like olives, it will just make the taste of the burger more complete.
@@MajiMarji I'm not fond of cooked olives. I made the recipe as instructed and it was WAY too olivey for me. I may try again using 1/2 the amount or something else in it's place. Otherwise the burger was good. If you find a good substitute let us know ;)
Nice recipe! When I make bean burgers, I also use the whole oats and oat flour. To measure the size of the patties, I use the 1/3 cup of mixture for each burger. Wrap in wax paper and then freeze, they last easily 3 months frozen. They are an easy fast, healthy meal! I will be trying out your recipe as soon as I get those dried mushrooms! The sun ripe tomatoes really do add a satisfying taste and texture into foods. Putting it into a patty makes so much sense, that I wonder why I have never thought of doing it in my concoctions. Brilliant ingredient mix.
I don’t have a food processor. Tried to use my big Ninja blender - fail. Mixture was too crumbly for burgers. Don’t waste your time - use a food processor. I made meatballs which fell apart. I’ll try again when I get my food processor.
Thanks for the burger! Can't wait to try it. And I appreciate all the time and effort Jessica puts into the blog post--makes it so easy for those of us getting the recipe.
Brian the easiest breakfast patties I found is just equal parts oats, I like the quick oats for these or blitz the whole oats a bit, and water. Bring to boil the water with whatever seasoning you want. Mine is my Italian spice mix with extra fennel and chicken like base. If you go regular breakfast sausage flavor you can add maple syrup too. Drop in oats to boiling water and stir well. Remove from heat cover and let sit 5 minutes. Spoon onto a lined sheet pan and form into patties and bake. About 350 for 10 minutes and flip for another 10 minutes. Cool on cake rake and they freeze well. If you want I can look for the original recipe. Keep cooking...
