    You cut out the most important part of the video, how to install inner tensioner without removing cams. Lol. Everything else is straight forward.

      I know! Started my Camera, and installed the cam tensioner, then went to change camera angles and realized the camera had died. It’s not difficult though. Just take vise grips on both the tensioner and the locking pin at north and south positions, and then twist the two vise grips together, thus allowing you to hold both vise grips with one hand. Then you can manipulate the tensioner into place.

    I have a 2005 Electra Glide Classic with 31K on it and my shoes looked just as bad as yours, maybe worse. I went a step further and decided to replace that cam plate and go with hydraulic tensioners. Through a bunch of reading, I discovered a lot of the premature wear was being caused by the spring tensioner putting too much pressure on the chain and shoes. So with the upgrade, hopefully I wont have to re-open the cam chest for a long time!! Like 60 to 80 thousand miles. Also, the upgraded oil pump was a recommended change also by a lot of mechanics. When I say mechanics, I mean those guys that work on their own bikes, not the Harley Dealership. My bike is Lava Red and that seat you have on that bike looks awesome. Gotta check into getting a white or cream colored one, I really like it. Don't know why it never dawned on me to do that!

    I’d love to see that procedure w/o pulling the cams out of the plate to replace that inside shoe, I’ve replaced ALOT of these, but never without using the proper tools and a press .

    you answered the question of the centry It is possible to change tensioners without a special tool or pressing cams out thanks for the video Like everyone else I wish you got it on film But we can figure it out Im sure if you did it Im sure we can do to

      True. He was able to change the tensioner with a couple of wrenches and jims tool. Plus he showed to shim the rocker bolt holes for lesser tick noise. Question of the century answered. Ty sir.

    Holy balls, dude.
    How could you cut out the very part that we clicked on for?
    If it was so easy...you should have done it again and showed the procedure.
    I mean...damn. Your holding it in your hand!

    How exactly did you get the inner tensioner removed and the new tensioner installed without a special tool?

    • @lifewiththehamptons2191
      @lifewiththehamptons2191  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Crescent Wrench, and those needle nose Vise Grips.
      Hold the tensioner tool with the Crescent Wrench, then grab the rod on the end of the spring with the Vice Grip, and collapse the tensioner spring by twisting the two wrenches together. Once you twist the two wrenches together, you can hold them both with one hand, thus allowing you to guide the spring into position!

    Did you put unoriginal tensioner shoes? Who produces them? Does anyone have a positive experience using them? Can you give a link to these tensioner shoes?

    • @lifewiththehamptons2191
      @lifewiththehamptons2191  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Psyco Tensioners. Hands down better than any other. There are several videos of the psyco shoes vs HD shoes, and the psyco shoes are better hands down. I dont have a link, but just search HD Psyco cam chain tensioner shoes

    How many miles on those shoes? Did you have to change inner bearings?

    • @lifewiththehamptons2191
      @lifewiththehamptons2191  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      31k miles. Harley recommends changing at 30k, and they were right on the money.
      I didn’t change any bearings. I bought the entire kit, which came with bearings, but at the last minute I found that a multitude of HD mechanics said to use the much better name brand aftermarket bearings instead. And I am going to do a Cam Plate change to use the hydraulic tensioners, and a Cam Swap. I will do this within the next 10k miles, so I decided not to fool with the bearings at this time. I did soak them in assembly lube upon reassembly. I have put 2,500 miles on it since the tensioner change

      No. Your #1 cylinder has to be on TDC before your timing marks line up

    So you never actually showed the "Harley Davidson Twin Cam, Cam Chain Tensioner Shoe Replacement WITHOUT the Inner tensioner tool!!" like the title of your video would have us all believe. Maybe you should have named it something else. Thanks for nothing and for wasting everyone's time that wanted to see the procedure your title indicated...
