Today was a perfect Early Summer day to make some Thrifty Changes around the Cottage! I love to make the Cottage Fresh & Cozy, it makes me feel better! We had the last rain today, too. I hope you enjoy this video, sweet friends.

Lantana is one of the plants that thrive in our west Texas hot dry desert climate. If you are watering it twice a day that is too much. It also seems to be in a very small container. If you want to keep it in a pot, repot into a much larger container, give it full sun and water only when it is dry. Can’t help you with the hydrangeas 😕 good luck. Thank you for rescuing that sweet dog.

I started adding Cinnamon or Mint oil in my cleaning solution. Insects do not like it at all 😊❤ Amazing, I love it

Lived and raised in Redding Cali, to this day no matter where I go, I always look under bike seats, outdoor chair, inside shoes because of Black widows spiders! Redding was breading ground for em, they love that summer heat ..LOl I'm ole gal now... ;) My grandmother had Hydrangea , but here where under a cover porch, so they received morning sunlight buy never the afternoon sun, she lived in Chico Calif, it gets hot as well, they where huge and lovely ...

Sarah I already thought of you as a kind and pleasing person, but the fact that you all saw a miserable creature, one that God provided to humans to care for, and stopped to "rescue" it, well now I respect and appreciate you that much more! People who consider animals as throw away objects when there is no more use or room for them, make me so angry I cannot even speak to them. Thank you and your beautiful family, so much!

Our special needs son has found more dogs than we can keep. We post a picture of the dog along with a brief summary of their temperament. Someone always comes forward to love and care for the animal. This last one was adopted by my husband's cousin.The best part is we don't have to take the dog to the pound which can be extremely stressful on the animal.

Sarah, hydrangeas are thirsty plants but I love them! They are a great addition to your cottage,
Hydrangeas need shade and as the word hydra suggests..lots of water. I find Lantana can handle a bit of shade but not needing as much water
Microchip your pets!! Make sure they have a collar with your contact info on it.
lantana thrives in heat and 8:21 full sun it does not need fertilizer, if you’re watering it every day or twice a day that too much, lantana is a drought tolerant plant.
You are so sweet, can you please check on the dog in shelter, I am afraid after a while they put her to sleep❤❤❤❤
Hydrangeas like lots of water,try not to wet the flowers. They need fertilizer,i use what ever i have.

I do not have a green thumb but I love the big flowering plants I se planted outside people's homes. You make taking care of your home look easy. Take care.

My sister in law gave me two cuttings of a hydrangea a few years back. I managed to keep them alive, which I'm happy with they just dont seem to bloom amd spead. Said sister in law, who can make a stone brust into flower. Doesn't know what I'm missing. So it will be good to see what your followers come up with. Hope you have a good week chick. Just keep doing what your doing.
One suggestion, years ago my mum and nearly everyone of that generation would,
Red Admiral their door steps and windows. I was thinking with your green paint on your porch, it would give it a pop. Im not even sure if they still make it.😊
You rescuing the little dog was heartwarming. Loved the name Chance. You and your sister gave him a second Chance. Hope he fines a good amd loving family. How can people be that evil to animal's. Makes my blood boil.

Sarah, you're right! Hydrangeas like morning sunshine and evening shade. They also like a lot of water and you need to put a little mulch or pine straw around the base. Something that holds the moisture in. You can also feed it with1 tablespoon of plain Epsom salt mixed to every gallon of water. They love it! Maybe once a month. Good luck as you have a green thumb! It will get huge and multiply. 🙏👍🤍
Aww that's so awesome that you rescued the dog!❤ I'll be praying for the sweet pup too🙏 Every time a see a lantana bush i think of my mama. She had several huge ones, the red & yellow and the pink & yellow. She rooted several pieces of each for me and i planted them in one of my flower beds at the send of my deck. They grew larger every year! Just have to cut out all the dead pisces when it finally dies completely, it'll always come back! That was when we lived in NC. Maybe one day I'll have another beautiful one. Is your lantana in the ground? If not, it really needs to be, and where it has lots oof room to grow, not a crowded space. Its not really A potted plant. If you do have it in the ground thats best.. you can buy the 10-10-10 or 20-20-20 fertilizer and sprinkle it around the base on the ground. That will help feed it. Hopefully it'll began to thrive! And also hope your hydrangea does well! Thanks for another sweet video😊

That’s such a precious story of you rescuing that little dog! Reminds me of how the Lord rescues us when we are alone with no hope! I’m surprised the Lantana isn’t thriving. It’s classified as a noxious weed here in Australia as it gets into the bush and destroys the native plants. We have a very similar climate. Maybe some Australian plants would do well in your garden they thrive in baking heat and low rain fall.

I love your channel and am always excited when I see a video. I had to chuckle though when you were talking about your plants saying “he won’t do as well there and I bought a hydrangea, I hope he does good.” I said that’s the problem!!!! They are all she. I talk about and to my plants saying she’s doing so well or I need to move her over etc.
I’m kidding you of course. It doesn’t matter what you call them to get them to grow or not. 💕

My Costco hydrangea is a few years old and has done very well with morning sun only here in hot N. Calif.
