Hi Sarah, ficus trees are known to loose some leaves when repotted even when moved in and out of different light. Sometimes it can seem like it’s going to die, but patience is a virtue, it usually bounces back! Blessings and Thanyou for the great video
Sarah I always look forward to your relaxing videos. You have such a passion for home & it shows. Get you a little folding table to pull out for your potting & painting projects. Would make it easier on your knees. Have a great day🪴
Terra cotta pots are very porous compared to ceramic, so they do dry out quicker after watering. Old soil should be replaced with new for the nutrient content. And, yes, reuse the ceramic container with a plastic pot inside for drainage. Great idea!😊
Hi Sarah! Fyi..s❤ometimes when those plants are relocated or transplanted they will go through an abscission process, the leaves will yellow and shed. But no worries, this is normal,it will thrive again.... but they can be very fussy.🌱🌳😎
I live in north PA. I have my lemon thyme and regular thyme planted outside in one of my herb gardens. They survive the winter better than my other herbs. This year they have spread 2 times bigger. Most herbs do well in the winter but some don't. They all do like to spread, so if you ever want to plant them outside, have a designated area or use raised beds. Most of them flower too. My sage is giving me beautiful flowers right now. I am a plant lover. We have a gigantic vegetable garden and this year i planted most all of my flowers. It was nice not having to spend 100s at a greenhouse. ❤
Sarah I love your glasses! As always, a lovely video. I think your ficus tree will do well in that space. I had a beautiful ficus years ago …it got very big. When I moved into a smaller place I gave it to my neighbor…. You are so right being out in nature and working with plants is so good for our souls. The Lord has created such beautiful things for us to enjoy. You are living a beautiful life, many blessings
Dear Sarah, here is a tip about Terra cotta planters. They are very porous and are like sponges. Therefore, you really should soak your pots in water for a day so they soak up all the water they need to be moist. If you don’t, then the pot will literally soak up any water you put on your plant. It’s like you can never keep your plants damp because of the pot. Kinda a viscous cycle. With future platings be sure to soak your pot. I have soaked the pots with plants in them so may try that for the ones you planted without soaking. 😊❤😊🙏
Thank you for sharing how you take care of your plants! I have struggled with indoor plants. I'm excited to switch up to your methods. God bless the work of your hands.❤❤
@@TheRayjane I agree about Sarah’s voice. A sharp voice will turn me off immediately. There are some creators with wonderful content that I can’t watch because of their voice. Lucky us great content and voice😀
@@kayemcmullen I agree Kaye, some people’s voices are like nails on a chalk board 😂. Sarah has a spa voice or she could do audio books. She’s blessed with that beautiful voice that comes from the Lord. Nice chatting with you
Thanks Ms Sarah for your continuing plant care. This has motivated me to go repot my front porch aloe vera. Praying safety and blessings for you and family. Love from Texas❤
Good morning sweet friend, wishing you a very happy day. Enjoyed your video, luv your beautiful new ficus tree, looks lovely in the entryway. Hope you have a fabulous week. Luv and huge blessings to you & your family. Bob and Lisa ❤❤❤
I relate to you so much Sarah. ❤ I’m a big thrifter, and all my plant food is thrifted too! 😂 Thanks for the tip on pot size. I’m a farmer and gardener, but indoor plant care is something I need to learn more about. Have a beautiful day 😊
Your videos haven’t been in my feed lately. I’m so happy you popped up. I’m not sure if this matters or not, but your vehicle license plate pops up in your video. Take care and enjoy your summer 😊
Ficus trees do not like to be moved or a change of light or they will have a major leaf drop. You also need to use fresh potting soil, not soil from your yard. Good luck ❤
I was watching your video ,I believe this is the first time I seen the outside of your home I was expecting to see a cottoge style home , I Believe that's an older range style.I know what your saying your decorating in a cottage style.
Love your videos! I got a tile drill bit and when I find cool planters or even little tea pots at the thrift it works perfect to drill a hole in the bottom! (Just in case I would block your license plate info!!)
You can't do anything to anyone by knowing their license plate number. We all drive around in public for all the world to see it. It doesn't provide any personal info about anyone like a social security number does and is not a number that's meant to be kept private, as it's obviously displayed on the outside of our vehicles.
Can you move your Ficus outside near the pool? The foyer doesn't get enough light that they require. When I lived in San Diego I had my Ficus outside and it grew into a tree form.
I love plants also. My cat used to chew on them to get my attention. She is past that now. One thing I noticed is you didn't use any new soil. I always feel that the nutrition going out of the old. Or add new with the old. Using fertilizer. My Dad kept plants over the winter in his work shop. Cut them clear back and give them fertilizer. Now this is in Iowa, so the temps. are different then yours. We always said he could grow a rose out of a rock. (ps. He talked them also) Joyce
Hi Sarah, I grow lemon thyme here in Adelaide, as a ground cover that gets between the cracks in the paths. It is very hardy and smells like summer when stepped upon. What I guess I’m trying to say is we have a very similar Mediterranean climate to that in California, so it should do very well outside. Maybe it just needs to be initially planted in semi-shade. Happy gardening🦘🇦🇺
Sarah be careful watering that plant with the garbage bag catching the water after a couple of days it will start to smell rotten it happened with my plant and it’s also hard to remove the water without makeing a mess
Anytime you use terracotta pots they are porous so they will dry out quickly. Also yeah never water a plant and have its leaves get wet and have the sun shine on them it’s like a magnifying glass and it burns them. Also be careful for pest I see you are adding more plants to your collection which is amazing. I have over 200 plants in my home so just trying to help out a little but as I was saying be cautious about plants and pest putting new plants in your home because they can spread pest really quick and kill your old plants in your home. I always check under the leafs and quarantine new plants and if you see pest or to prevent pest spray captain jacks insecticidal soap on leaves under and on top and all over plant you spray and leave on don’t wash off it doesn’t harm the plant but it will kill pest that can harm plant it’s organic so safe to use. Hope that helps love ur videos and ur beautiful home.
I love plants 🪴 but with fruit in the house and the fig tree and other plants I had in the house my house had nats in my house so I got rid of everything. I may have to find a solution to bring back my plants 🌱 I love😢. Love all the plants in your home. Any tips on which work well with no nats I am all 👂. I replaced my planters with fake plants 🪴. Lol

To add.. my ficus, will drop all her leaves after a repotting, in just a few weeks new growth is coming back. She is 34 years old now.
Terra Cotta also absorbs the water much more than other planters. Gorgeous Ficus tree ❤
So true, my clay pots always need more water.
True, but they look amazing. I cannot stand the look of plastic pots or pots made in China.
@citygirlingraham Yes they look so much better
Geraniums are the most wonderful summer flower, I buy them every year, a small investment with huge pay off. In terracotta pots they look AMAZING.
Plants are just plain necessary!!😊

Good potting soil is a plus for all plants. The tree looks so beautiful in the terra cottage pot. Love growing plants also.
I love plants also. I have many and always look forward to getting more. You have to move the plant up one size from the pot it’s potted in.
Your tree is just gorgeous! I’ve been wanting something like that on our front porch. I definitely find it to be therapeutic to be in the garden!
Planting containers gives such joy
Hi Sarah. You know you can drill a hole in the planter. Tape a criss cross where you want the hole. You can also get a drill bit for ceramics.
Thank you.❤️🌱

Your tree may drop leaves for a bit, but they will do that, even just moving them from one side of the same room to the other side. Pouty plants 😉

Remember also tèrra cotta absorbs water too. I'm assuming your plant will take water from the pot as well. That's my theory. I could be wrong.
You should use fresh soil. Normally the soil of a pot must be changed every 2-3 years.
I love plants but I don't have good light in my house. I have a few.😅
omg where is your sweet bow top from?!?
