    His strat sound is just so much better than his PRS sound.

      It’s certainly pretty hard to beat the tones in “where the light is”!
      Thanks for watching!

    I'll have to start looking for one on Reverb. Since getting a Michael Tuttle Strat, my Silver Sky will be going up for sale.

    Excellent video man! Love seeing the JM Strat. I own a Silver Sky, and while I absolutely love it, I still would love to get my hands on one of these someday. 🤙🏽

      Thank you so much for watching bro! Really appreciate the support, still learning but trying my best.😆
      And I love the JM strat but I’d love to get my hands on a Silver Sky one day too so we’re in a pretty similar position in that regard😆
      Love your content by the way, just subscribed! :)

    Honestly, having owned a Silver Sky and many strats. I still think a strat, especially the Fender John Mayer signature sounds more like him than the Silver Sky. The Silver Sky sounds more like another type of guitar by itself. Great video Sam!

      Thank you for watching and for the comment! I must admit I completely agree, I’ve only played a silver sky very briefly at a guitar shop but to me it really didn’t feel or particularly sound like a strat.

    When Fender discontinued their John Mayer signature strat, they went on closeout for $1000. Being a young and broke player at the time, I really wanted it but couldnt justify spending that much on a guitar so i passed. Nearly a decade later and its still one of my biggest guitar buying regrets. Cant complain as I've got a Silver Sky and a Suhr Classic now. Should be everything I could want out of a strat.

      Ahh that’s a great shame you couldn’t get your hand on one at the time, what a great deal! Don’t think you can go wrong with a silver sky or the Suhr classic though, bet they’re both great to play!
      Thanks for watching!

    Can you tell us a bit more about the tone and how you got there?

    • @samwestguitar
      @samwestguitar  ปีที่แล้ว

      For the majority of the video it’s just completely clean in to a fender supersonic 22 amp! The distortion which only occurs on the lead guitar in the intro and the distorted tones later on in the video are produced by the Keeley Electronics oxeblood!
      Hope that answers your question! Thanks for watching!

      @@samwestguitar thanks, can you share amp settings?

    • @samwestguitar
      @samwestguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The amp settings were literally set to 12 o’clock on treble and bass and around 2.5/10 on the volume along with around 3 or 4 on the spring reverb! So basically as clean and balanced as you can get ! :)

    I reealy dont like the silver sky, it makes it kinda annoying that almost everyone plays one now adays!

    Why do I keep getting all the Frusciante and Mayer videos? I DON'T CARE FOR EITHER OF THEM. So every time I get one in spite of asking the algorithm to knock it off, I'm gonna come on and post that Mayer and Frusciante are two of the most uninteresting players out there. Phillip Sayce is out there, Eric Gales is out there, Bonamassa is out there seriously why would anyone give 2 f's about Mayer? Or Frusciante? Give me break

    • @samwestguitar
      @samwestguitar  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow a hot take! Personally I feel like players like Bonamassa are incredibly technical and skilled but lack the nuance and subtly to really connect with me. Personally for me music is all about feel and emotion and I’ve never felt that with “virtuosic” players so to speak. Not to discredit them or knock them down in anyway, I think there great and incredibly talented but perhaps just not for me. But to be honest I do somewhat agree in regards to Frusciante. To me Mayer has the chops to be virtuosic but he serves the music he plays, but I’ve never been blown away by a Frisciante solo, neither by feel or virtuosity!
      Anyway, thanks for watching and if you don’t like Mayer, I’d recommend giving “where the light is” a watch if you haven’t already, it might make you see the light if you will pardon the pun!😆

      Well, engaging in the comment section of a Mayer video is one way of telling the algo to keep them vids comin’! For sure. 🙃
