As a young boy, I once thought Lou was a drag, but when I got older and appreciated what jazz is, I'll always find myself going back to the alligator Boogaloo and others. RIP to my dad for forcing this music in my system until I got the hang of it. 2024 going on 2025 and it's still a classic.
Great video and sound production! I used to do this work, and I appreciate when it's done well. Thank you, guys! And the music is wonderful, which is why most of us did it! Bummer that that there are no credits for the rest of the band. utube posters, do your job! Thumbs down for YOU! And Lou was a very smart and well-educated man, with a University degree (Not Honary). Lou -- I LOVE YOU, Baby!
The bad jazz excludes the essence of music and turns into empty or over complicated number notes. Lou Donaldson's jazz living with the blues effortlessly. Amazing video, thank you for uploading!
In a few days time, Nov. the first, Lou will be 92 and still going strong! Bloody amazing, mind boggling in fact, that this great man has played with all the Jazz-greats from the best ever Jazz era; post war till about 1980. And he’s still going strong! So happy birthday Lou and thank you for all that incredible musical joy you bought us over a life-time of magical (“suffering”) bluesy Jazz-music! A great, smokey/lazy swingin’ clip this is. So enjoy & Cheers!
Lonnie Smith is not to be confused with another quality organist, Lonnie Liston Smith.... Lonnie Smith was born in 1942, which makes him 73 years old now, and his early work was with the accredited guitarist from Pittsburgh, Mr. George Benson.
Lou Donaldson and his band play that fine line between blues and jazz so easily and naturally. My kinda music … great to listen to and even greater to play along with!
Justin W Thank you. Just today I came across a YT tape called 'Jan Akkerman-In The Mood live', where he plays a beautiful guitar that looks similar to this one, but with three p.u.'s. Very beautiful.
además el jefe, que es el maestro Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith toca el teclado y Randy Johnston toca la guitarra y Fukushi Tainaka toca la batería. la información es en el último del vídeo con los reconocimientos . . . .
I would really like to know the personal here . It sounds like Kenny Burrell on guitar but a bit too young looking . I see Lonnie Smith. On drums I don't know,
What a freakin moron you are.. Spoken like a true coward . .. Stay out of the USA snowflake you might have a breakdown from us strong conservative men.. Call us when you need us to help you from getting your asses kicked, we'll send our brave fighting men and woman to save your ass.. like we did before... Buford? LOL.. OK Goober.. what a douchebag you are... Get a brain in your head before you start a conversation with someone like me who could bury your ignorant stupid ass in a debate.. FCKK you.

Now this is the way a Hammond B3 organ should be played. I love the way Lonnie's signature interpretation ride the sound waves.

+tunefultony johnson Thanks for that, I didn't know there were 2 Lonnie Smiths on organ.
Dr. Lonnie Smith.... he doesn't have a Ph. D. (save perhaps an honorary degree), but he "doctors it up" on the Hammond.
Yea, it was a dream! Love it.
All ways dug Lou since first hearing him with Clifford & Art -The messengers 1958 cats still with us -I believe. Yeh! Mort

Thank You
SOOOOO NICE!
Digging the Jam...
I'll leave another comment remarking on the fabulous guitar. "Randy Johnston," a name I'll remember
Lou held his arms up at the end of Blue Walk. It reminded me of Moses.
01:57 Wade in the water sample =)
He makes it look so: *EASY*
18:13 starting one of the amazing and beautiful solo on guitar in jazz history

Yeah, pretty unique. Looks like a hollow-body, but with no f-holes. And only one fret marker. Great tone!

Yes, who is on guitar ?
+Ignacio Arango Randy Johnston from the Doctor's Quartet! www.newmorning.com/20040413-983-LOU-DONALDSON-DR-LONNIE-SMITH-QUARTET.html
Too bad most young people don't get this music and learn to play an instrument 😣
Did he really have to get political at the end in a foreign country.
yes, he's a very old man and he can do whatever he wants to do wherever he is. if you live that long, you will be able to do the same thing.
MrStewbee It's actually easier to do that in a foreign country since the whole world hates George W. Bush
+MrStewbee actually sometimes Americans are really annoying I don't give a damn no matter how the president of USA is.
+Milan Adrianku George W [Dubya] Bush is no longer in office, as US President , if you have perhaps checked lately, dude....
