    I like the keyword "Just Ride". Whatever you have doesn't matter as long as it works and you enjoy it !
    P/S : Going custom is an expensive route but the bike you gonna have (depending on what frame material you choose) is unique and well worth the money.

      Speaking of bespoke bikes, Victoire Cycles (France) is what triggered my growing interest in such bikes. Their lineup is simple: there is none.
      Road/gravel/touring/MTB, rim or disc, whatever features you'd like (custom stem, cable housing protectors in the form of vertical steel strips on the head tube., etc.), your ideal geometry, almost nothing is impossible.

    I have 4 hookless wheelsets and have no issues. There are plenty of compatible tires available now. Wouldn’t let this dictate your decision unless there is one tire you’re really keen on that isn’t compatible

    • @roborovski008
      @roborovski008 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      may i know what are the advantages of hookless rim ?

    • @jbmorrill
      @jbmorrill 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the main reason is that it is easier to manufacture a hookless rim which brings down the cost and also should make the rim more robust in an impact. It also usually means a wider internal width relative to the external width of a rim. I don’t think it’s really an advantage over hooked rims. My point is more that if there is a wheel you’re keen on that is well reviewed get it regardless of hooked vs hookless. I also own hooked rims. They work fine too :)

    Hey man, I am in the same predicament as you...M size TCR and a short flip up stem. I did a test ride with the Defy...the ride feel is different...the TCR is definitely more snappy than the Defy or Propel. As mentioned, if we want a bike with short reach, high stack and small wheelbase...we will have to get a custom bike...There is no S/M size with Giant...so my next bike might be a S TCR or something else

      The owner is correct. The size is not the problem. It’s the wrong the geometry for him. He doesn’t have the flexibility for the longer reach and lower stack of these race geo frames. He would be better suited to the more relaxed/endurance frames.

  • @cosinus_square
    @cosinus_square 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The setup looks slightly too big for him, not massively off but I assume just a tiny bit off to make him a little uncomfortable, been there done that. I'm taller than him and I got a 2021 TCR SL rim brake size S, centered saddle and 120mm stem. I can only advise him to try a smaller size, once you find your bike size, cycling changes completely. However, the bike looks very nice and if he's happy with the fit, ride on.

  • @martinkroutil
    @martinkroutil 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hookless rims are no problem. Just get tubelesss (hookless) complatible tyre like GP5000 STR or Schwalbe Pro One TLE and stick latex tube in it and be done no hassle with sealant. Just to remember to pump tyre before every ride (latex lose air a little quicker then normal tube) and stick with max recommended rim tyre pressure (I think ZIPP has max 73psi).

  • @JustSueMe
    @JustSueMe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Watching these videos, I feel like Singapore really loves race bikes! It seems like there isn't a big market for endurance bikes like Giant Defy, Specialized Roubaix, Trek Domane, Canyon Endurace, Cannondale Synapse, BMC Roadmachine etc., which is pretty interesting because in my country it's the polar opposite! 😂
    However, race bikes are not for everyone since they tend to have very aggressive geometry, this is the reason you often see a big stack of spacers on the cockpit. It's the geometry, not the fit.

    • @87togabito
      @87togabito 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The issue is that, locally the culture seems to see the endurance breed of bikes as being of lower value, hence Lower resale value, which enforces the idea that it’s worth less (forming a vicious cycle)
      Hence, most ppl will just opt for the race focused models. Then again, most cyclists hardly ever spend more than 4-5 hours on the bike so I guess the aggressive Geo doesn’t matter.
      And for those who do, they sort of just get used to it (did my audex ride on a Sl7) and fared better than I thought I would.

    • @JustSueMe
      @JustSueMe 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@87togabito Very interesting perspective about the perceived value, thanks for your input! I assumed it was possibly because Singapore is relatively flat compare to my country (Greece) which is 80% mountains, so it would make sense that aero and race bikes would be more common over there.

    • @87togabito
      @87togabito 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JustSueMe it’s actually pretty funny now that you mentioned it.
      Riders here either go for a race bike, or they just go straight for a hybrid or a foldie.
      Most don’t even consider an endurance model as a viable option. That seems to be how the resale market here works

    • @BigB3n69
      @BigB3n69 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Singapore is small and flat, there is no real endurance riding, unless one plans to go round the island 4 times.

    • @timothysuprapto6226
      @timothysuprapto6226 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think because of the geographical reason of singapore being small and flat, you will benefit most on aero race bikes compared to endurance / gravel or other types of bikes

      The current trend is having a smaller frame, longer seat post and stem to fit the rider.
      You could partly blame Giant for that trend. Back in the day Pros will get measured and get individual custom built frames by the manufacturer. To perfectly fit the reader.
      When Giant entered the pro peloton scene with the TCR. Pros only gets to choose within 5 production frame sizes. So they have to make adjustments with the stem, seatpost and crankset sizes to fit the rider.

  • @leetdude
    @leetdude 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Bro I’m not a fitter but I was riding a TCR awhile back. I’m 174 and had a TCR in size S. TCRs’ reach is slightly on the long side (ran 90mm stem) and stack leaning to the high side. I’m not ultra flexible (like Oompa) or ultra aero (like JD) but could comfortably slam it running a 90mm -17 degrees stem. 202X TCRs are designed to have an ultra comfy geometry while giving the rider the option to run varying degrees of stem angles depending on flexibility. There’s no reason your cockpit should look like that.. Any experienced TCR owners care to weigh in?
