  • "Homelessness isn't just sleeping on the streets."
    This Christmas ‪@bodyshopuk‬ is supporting young women affected by homelessness. Last year 110,000 young people were affected by homelessness in the UK*. But there's still hope. With the right opportunities and support, homeless young people can turn their lives around and build successful futures. That’s why they have joined forces with Charity End Youth Homelessness to give young people a brighter future.

    I am an old lady Most of the problems that we have today are caused by the breakdown of the community's. This in my humble opinion is most of the cause .Why is this happening. It's 2020 .Life should be better not worse from when I was a child .

    I was institutionalised from my Mother going in to safe homes, hostels and 'battered' women's homes. I continued the cycle until 29 via youth hostels etc but I'm applying for jobs and want to be working by end of January. It's crazy but I always said shared homes etc scared me for life too.

    I'm 17 and homeless I had to leave home because it got too much and I've been suffocating there since childhood I'm trying to get the help I can get, all the social workers have slagged me off and said there is no problem if your from the Redbridge area then you know nobody gives damn about you! When I was in UK. I saw empty boarded up streets under a constant grey sky, litter everywhere.
    Homeless people sleeping in doorways. Opioid addicts out of their mind and women so drunk they urinated on the streets. It's a sad declined country

    I’ll be 3 years homeless (sofa surfing) on 18th April.
    Multiple times I have contacted the council and various homelessness ‘charities’ here in South Wales.
    I became homeless through a breakdown in relationship with an addict parent.
    Why can’t I get housing and why do local counsellors ignore my emails?
    Here’s why:
    I am not drug or alcohol dependent.
    I am not, nor have I ever, claimed benefits.
    I am not a parent, more specifically a mother.
    I am a male.

    Why are the large majority of the UK's homeless rough sleepers single men? What makes them massively more likely to become homeless than the rest of the population?

    • @andrewjones575
      @andrewjones575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Alan Hardcastle The gender disparity for homeless rough sleepers (who are a tiny minority of the homeless) is larger - more like 9 to 1.

    • @andrewjones575
      @andrewjones575 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @Alan Hardcastle Someone sleeping in a shop doorway is a rough sleeper, whereas a person temporarily accommodated in a hostel, B&B etc. isn't - but they're both homeless.

    Some homeless are the direct result of addiction. Eradicate the drug pushers, and eventually you'll solve most of homelessness.

    • @Christine-te4mr

      Eradicate family breakdown, all kinds of abuses, mental health, etc. and you might be able to eradicate addiction...

    • @Rainbowtaintedglasses
      @Rainbowtaintedglasses 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      that's such a ignorant comment even if you didn't mean it to be. So many become homeless for other reasons other than addiction. Mostly it's due to family problems and mental illness/trauma.

    • @StaaaaNzHD
      @StaaaaNzHD 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No that’s not true. That’s a close minded thing to say mate. There’s many reasons for homelessness, Mainly family/parental problems

    • @YouChwb
      @YouChwb 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@StaaaaNzHD Did I say "all"? Sure there are other mitigating circumstances, especially when druggies don't want to pay rent when they get a Dept of Housing flat.
      I've seen countless addicts spend their ENTIRE welfare money on either drugs, or paying back the scumbags who give them credit. They don't want to help themselves because society has given them the green light that it is a disease.
      In the end, they get turf out on the street because they don't pay the rent. So they give that place to someone who will pay up.
      Makes me laugh when I see the bullshit sob stories in regards to homelessness.
      What they should call it is self destructive termination of abode.
      And I'll tell you another thing, before they do get kicked out, they get a number of chances to get clean, go on programs and improve themselves. But no, they don't or refuse to give no f**ks.
