Again, Frank is the epitome of the most underrated rock and blues guitarist of his generation. Every bit as good as SRV.

Frank is doing stuff that is beyond the scope of Stevie Ray, and I love Stevie Ray.

@@RobHollanderMusic true, as a guitar player with 55 years of playing, I've always noticed two things with Frank: He makes every note mean something (no filler notes, no gimmicks either)...and he always takes the more difficult road (he always plays all the complicated parts of his songs, or the covers he does). The Man is astonishing..a real players player...

Absolutely true William. Taking nothing from Stevie, I’ve seen Frank play since the early 70’s when Stevie was a kid. There’s simply no one who ever got the Hendrix vibe as right as Frank. And yet, he was also doing dive bombs before Eddie. And like both, he never dried up while soloing. A remarkable artist, and gentleman.

Better then SRV. Frank can play any style at a high level, SRV was amazing don't get me wrong but Frank is elite

I'm 60+ l have worn out his albums, cassettes, and CDs for years and years and now to get that fucking DVD. Best stuff to listen to at any time... sex, text, work, air guitar in the shower, sleeping, waking up, in the rain, etc......420!!!

Frank was only 15 in 1969 you must of been listening to him play at clubs as a young teen in Montreal. He started playing guitar at 13 after playing drums for 3 years after changing instruments he started his band Mahogany Rush at age 17, his first album Maxoom released in 71. Frank and I are same age with me being exactly 2 months older. lol I remember first hearing Mahogany Rush back in mid 75 fell in love with his music and the way he played the guitar. How cool that must have been to watch him play in clubs back in the late 60’s. Keep rocking on with Frank and Mahogany Rush. ✌🏽

Certainly one of the lesser-known, but fantastic players!...The thing is, in the 70s and 80s, guitar was not so popular with newer generations of young people...Frank came along (in the USA) just a little bit late...for some reason, people passed him over, in favor of EVH--another great player. I do not know why this happened.

How absolutely amazing. Truly one of the greatest and most inspirational guitar legends of all time. Frank Marino has forgotten more riffs than the average virtuoso guitar player ever knows!. His knowledge is as eternally vast as the universe itself. He weaves melodic tapestries of wonder with his flowing pentatonic riffs of glory. He took the electric guitar in the direction the spirit of Hendrix guided him and added, dare I say it, Jazz!

that is the funniest shit ive ever read, there were tons of great players out there who were contemporaries of his that were absolute monster great players. All this whiney shit his fans dish out about “recognition” could basically be looked at in two ways, he never had the songwriting talent his peers did and all that hendrix crap he was known for definitely didnt help out in the 70s. He literally has gone on record and said because of the hendrix stuff and that fabricated newspaper story he was a complete outcast
If he would’ve put out the stuff that he did in the early 80s about 6 yrs earlier i think it would’ve been a different story but instead during the 70s he was known for covers and stuff that was derivative of hendrix & his other influences.

I was fortunate to see him on a tour with Uli Jon Roth in Portsmouth UK around 2001, with Jack Bruce and Glenn Hughes sharing bass duties. Unbelievable show, still remember it 20 years later, was reminiscing about it with Uli last year at one of his shows in London, his comments about Frank were respectful and full of admiration, they are both huge Hendrix fans and their renditions of Hendrix music are second to none.

Years ago I went to ROUTE 66 in Burlingame, CA to see Marino play in a small club with a backup band called the Gangstars...played most of the Juggernaut album plus played Strange Universe etc...it really showed me how through the years he just better...just deepened my love for the music he plays...he totally blew the doors off the house there. Would love to get a copy of this show...thanks for posting this song...it is frikken AWESOME

My new favorite cover of this song. Cool how he changes the song from 12 bar to- what, 24 bar? And even cooler is how well it works.

I was a Marino fan from 1970s. Roy Buchanan, Danny Gatton, etc I begged the dazed idiots at school to come see this unknown guitar player who was playing the Arizona State Fair.. His 1st album had just come out and I heard a song played on a Globe Az station. I got these guys who I played guitar with to see SRV before he had the lyrics down for Couldn't Stand The Weather so he just sat on the edge of the stage and wailed for 60 minutes. admission was FREE! 150 min. of pure killer guitar.

First saw Frank in the early 80s, totally blown away. Still play a '68 SG. Now deaf in my right ear. Wish I could hear this the way it was meant to be. Lesson to you kiddies, once gone, it never comes back. Great memories though.

Absolutely true, I was watching him play the same song on a video from 1979 a few days ago and he sounds closer to Hendrix there, although even then he had his own style and individualistic quirks that all great guitarists have. Here however he is clearly talking in his own voice and I think Hendrix would approve. One thing he and Jimi share in common is that like Albert King and many other blues guitarists they have an elastic sound.

Very tasty blues licks and chording. I've seen Frank play shows. His playing never gets stale or predictive. When you hear someone ask Zakk Wylde who he is listening to and he says "Frank Marino", that pretty much says it all.
