For this list, we looked at every Super Mario adventure and picked the most fun and innovative level from the bunch. However, we’re only including mainline games so don’t expect to see any spin-offs here. Our countdown includes World 1-1 “Super Mario Bros.” (1985), Sunken Ghost Ship “Super Mario World” (1991), Bob-omb Battlefield “Super Mario 64” (1996), Freezeflame Galaxy “Super Mario Galaxy” (2007), New Donk City “Super Mario Odyssey” (2017) and more! New Donk City will forever be a masterpiece. From the scenery, to the fan service section, to the soundtrack.
If I could say one thing to Mario it would be “you’re the greatest video game character of all time thank you for making my childhood great”

It’s all about Luigi. That’s why you always have to beat the game to have the privilege of using him
Childhood and Adulthood.
Bob-omb Battlefield really was genius in its design. You get to know the terrain pretty well, then suddenly you can fly over it!
And New Donk City is always so much fun. But it seems almost heretical to play the celebration level in anything other then the black suit and fedora.

Some auto-scrolling levels can be fun. The Doomship levels of SMB3 are my favourites

My favorite is moon kingdom.
It’s short, and not really fun per de, but it’s ridiculously beautiful.
Seeing Mario in an astronaut suit on the moon with a church in the far distance felt heavenly
I would’ve thought the best stage in Mario 64 was the level where we drop that penguin off the cliff

I also prefer Cool, Cool Mountain over Bob-Omb Battlefield, but I understand why the latter is the entry for this list.
I think bowsers fury should’ve been included, but the rest was good and I can agree with

there’s no levels and i’d also argue that its not a full fledged game , more of a bonus game mode, its still great fun though
Bowser's fury is a bonus game within a switchport of a game that came out on the Wii U 8 years before. Including Bowser's fury would not make any sense when they said they're including mainline games.

Very much agree wity New Donk City, but the first level of some games felt like cop-out choices. I would have gone for several other worlds before Bomb on battlefield, like I enjoy it, like I enjoy all the levels, but I like several others more, like the snow world with the penguin race, the boo mansion, the lava world, the sand pyramid world, big/little world, to mention a couple.

Does anyone know in world 6-6 you can just complete the stage easy if you use a mini mushroom powerup just to walk on water in the entire stage extra fact push the run button
I literally did a dance to jump up superstar before I graduated from high school this year
Now if only we'd finally get a new Donkey Kong game.
The Haunted Carousel was my favorite level in Super Mario 64.
I would’ve expected Gusty Garden Galaxy or Toy Time Galaxy to be on here

Mario sunshine is my favourite game but I think that the best levels are sirena beach or bianco hills. Actually you know what they are all amazing 🤩 I wish sirena beach was a real place it’s so exotic 😍😍, but I’ll just have to watch Mario doing all the relaxing instead.

I thought the digging in World 2-1 of SMB2/USA was kinda tedious honestly. I liked 3-1 better with all the clouds, waterfall secret, and secret shortcut I found on my first playthrough.
World 5-3 with Kuribo's Shoe shoulda gotten the spot for SMB3

I like the mario game's and I think this is a pretty good list. I agree with most of the pick's that you made.
For SMB1, I always had a love for 3-2.
For SMB3, I love 5-3 because of the novelty of the Goomba Shoe.
Not sure about the super mario world choice tbh
The one flaw with the fuzzies in Yoshi's Island is the fact that once you get hit by one literally all you have to do is just duck and you won't move and that will allow you to weigh it out until you're back to normal. It completely destroys the purpose of it. If they programmed it so you couldn't duck when you're in that trance then it would actually be much more of a challenge
Super Mario 3 had much better levels.
Especially if we think about World 5-7

Honestly, I think that Tiny-Huge Island is better than Bob-omb Battlefield.
Tiny Huge Island was great.
M64 is the hardest to choose from.
We have the Monkey Mountain, Bombfield, Desert Level and the Clock Tower
Not sure about New Donk City, really think it should’ve been Mushroom Kingdom

@matt allen sure, but the title says “best levels”, not “most iconic levels”. Also, how can people who know nothing about Mario recognize a level, if they never saw it? They’ll recognize Mario itself, maybe the decor, enemies. Anyway, I never said it wasn’t a good iconic level, just far from the best in my opinion :)

Grandmaster Galaxy is just a kaizo level with no creativity in it. In Galaxy 2 there are masterpieces like Cosmic Cove, Tall Trunk and Throwback. Why they aren't in the video???
Galaxy 2 has better levels yet, like shiverburn, melty monster, fluffy bluff and sweet mystery

Having to be lucky enough to make it through the boo corridor and jump to the bonus room only for your star power up to end when you hit the floor and land on one of those spiky ball things and have to start the level again from the beginning...
