- Hey guys welcome to an absolutely amazing video where I go over the best and worst powerups from across the entire Super Mario Bros franchise! Most of these are no brainers but some are deep cuts that youve either forgotten or never knew about! 18:04 - I've read somewhere that the double-cherry powerup in 3D World was actually inspired by a mistake during development, where some developer made two playable characters spawn at the same time and the team thought it actually looked like an interesting game mechanic.
You said the Ice Flower is just a worse version of the Penguin Suit, but you liked the Racoon Leaf despite it being a worse version of the Tanooki Suit.

I mean the Tanooki Suit is very rare while the Penguin Suit is pretty easy to get

@@deadmeme739that and the raccoon mario based power ups are the most inconsistent across the series. There’s like 5 different versions. Some games the leaf turns you into raccoon mario, some games it gives him the full tanooki suit. There’s a version of the ability called the p-wing (that isn’t raccoon, leaf, or suit related at all) that gives you infinite flight, and then another version that gives infinite flight AND invincibility.
@@boneman9751 The P-Wing doesn't give you invincibility. It works like the Gold Flower where it disappears once you beat a level.
Wow, you miss the Hammer Suit in Super Mario Bros 3. That's a very great power up!!!
What about the Spring Mushroom? That's the worst power-up in Mario Galaxy. I used to enjoy bouncing around with it back in the day, but now it's boring to use, and it could risk you dying if you're not careful.
You can breathe fire as 3d bowser too in odyssey, you just have to shake the joycons instead of having a button prompt
Yes, he may not have said that with his mouth, but the gameplay footage did show him breathe fire.
Surprise the lucky cat bell isnt the best power-up in 3D world and bowser's fury. Not only do you get all the powers of the cat suit, but ground pounding turns you into a golden cat statue that gives you coins as you fall, getting more the further down you fall
The Poison Mushroom is actually more of a power-down than a power-up

@@hardlyanydiggity3953 it is especially if you have played 3D land in the special world levels. The poison mushroom will chase you like an enemy until it hurts you or it falls into a pit. It can be destroyed with a fire flower however.

My favorite upgrade in SMB3 was the Hammer suit. You can kill bosses instantly, block projectiles, and you have a wide area of coverage when you throw the hammer
Interesting video, though it's certainly tough to decide bests and worsts when a lot of it comes down to opinion, and some things get forgotten or left out. (Hammer Bros suit?) Definitely cool to cover so many like this though!
Also I know I'm just being picky or something but multiple times he says “ascend” when talking about downwards movement and it irks me. The word is “descend”.

To be fair to the assist powerups: Most people will never see them in a normal play through. Those who see them are probably frustrated and thinking about giving up, rather than getting better.
you missed the lucky bell in bowser's fury. it's basically just the cat suit, but you can turn into a statue and leave a trail of coins as you fall. its the best!
Lost levels: Best: Fire flower. Worst: Poison mushroom. It either powers you down or KILLS you.
You can actually breathe fire as Bowser when outside of the 8-bit section. You just need to shake your controller in order to do it.
I wouldn't say that red star power up is bad because it's underused
No hammer Bros suit?!? Wtf? It's the most OP power up in the entire franchise! You can one shot every single enemy in the whole game, including thwomps.

I'm surprised you didn't put the Spring Mushroom as the worst. I mean, it's one of the most hated powerups of the Mario series, period.
Also, the worst capture in Mario Odyssey is the boulder. It's worse than the cactus, since you just push it out of the way to find Purple Coins in a tree.
The worst power-up for super mario land is the mushroom ofc, well, the game only has 3 power-ups: The mushroom, the "fire" flower and the star. The fire flower and the star help a lot but the mushroom helps the least

12:11 I’m actually not a big fan of the Bee Mario power up, because I find it is hard to control Mario in this state - and it is easy to end up falling on the wrong place on the way down, because of the delayed reaction.

Spring Mushroom in my opinion is the worst power up in the Galaxy series
Once more: New Super Mario Bros. Wii was the sequel to New Super Mario Bros. Was. Then NSMB2 came out and, a few months later, NSMBU. You made progress this time when you called NSMBU the sequel to NSMB Wii, but you're not quite there yet.
Further, there's precedent. Kirby's Adventure was the sequel to Kirby's Dream Land until KDL2 came out. Then Kirby's Adventure got a sequel in the form of Kirby Super Star.

I’m sorry, but saying the red star is the worst peer up from galaxy is just objectively wrong. So what if it’s rare? The tanuki suit is rare and unnecessary, yet you had it as a best. The red star is an amazing power-up

Unpopular opinion: The cape feather is the worst power-up in SMW. The timing thing to stay up is just too fiddly, and is only "good" because it's generally all you have to get certain things. I'd sooner take the P-Balloon, or have the classic raccoon suit. Plus, like the raccoon suit's tail, the actual cape isn't that practical to use as a weapon, given the close quarters & timing needed for it
