  • Last year I made a video about how much money I make as a street photographer and it seemed to help some people, so I figured I'd make an updated version for this year. This years numbers might surprise you!
    Disclaimer: Only a small portion of my income comes from physically shooting on the street.

    Amazing! Would love to hear more about how to get into BTS photography on sets - it has always been an avenue I've been so interested in!

      It’s honestly one of my favourite things to do! You could try and reach out to local production companies, but sometimes they require a union worker. Volunteer to shoot stills for an indie movie or a music video could be an option. OR, reach out to a more established photographer and ask to shoot BTS while they do a shoot. Just some options to try!

    Lovely video 😊! I wonder, if you make around 5500 dollars a month, why don't you call yourself a fulltime professional photographer? In the Netherlands, 6000 a month is considered a lot!

      Great question! I started doing street photography as a “hobby” and the jobs I got were just opportunities for me to learn more and reinvest in my craft. I guess some people might call me a professional photographer, but I don’t think I’m there yet. Thanks for watching!

    Thank you for the breakdown and talking about such a sensitive subject! I would love to know more about how to find "the right price" for a client and not sell yourself short

    • @BryanBrock_
      @BryanBrock_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Appreciate you! The "right price" is such a loaded subject, but 100% worth talking about. I might make a separate video about that, but in short I find it helpful to always ask the client what their budget is and from there I can figure out if the job is a good fit. There are sooooo many different ways to approach this!

      @@BryanBrock_ A specific Video about this and how to structure price, dayrate or photo packages would be awesome! Thank you for the advice, you're an inspiration!

    I love the fact you worked less but technically got paid more. That is something more people should be mindful of, as it’s an excellent way to avoid burnout. Keep crushing it, Bryan.

    I think we share similar backgrounds and paths professionally. 2023 was a rough year for me in all pillars of life from financial side I too lost a client and it was a 1/3 of my income among other things. Main thing is to be positive and keep moving forward. No one ever said it was gonna be easy and there’s always some kind of suffering for the attempt of greatness

    • @BryanBrock_

      That last sentence is everything!

    Congratulations. But in all, you are not making money as a street photographer, but as a photographer in general. Almost everything you mention here, has nothing to do with street photography and your passion for it. Not said to be negative. But I think the title is a bit off here. That said, it is nice you share your experience 😊

    “I don’t consider this as an stable income” makes you do a great job and push that extra mile!

    I wonder if there's a way to make money on the spot with this. Offer a $3 portrait in 3 minutes. Send the photo to your phone, send the photo to their phone, then show that you're deleting their number from your phone. 🤷

      There’s an incredible New York photographer Jean Andre Antoine who takes street portraits with pack film and charges per photo. Make sure you check out his work!

    How did you break into getting these clients?

    • @BryanBrock_
      @BryanBrock_  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Most of my client work came from people reaching out after seeing my work online. I noticed the more I shared on IG the better. I’ve also been active in the arts and entertainment industry for many years prior to me picking up a camera, so knowing people always helps when it comes to getting work. Hope that helps!

    You could gain on your street photog status and make some money around it. Like HCB, GW and so on. Just street photography as main income? Nope. Remember an Asian dude? I can't even remember his name now. Google and YT pushed him as street photography guru. C19 came and he disappeared in the dust with twenty views videos of him doing pushups. Real and only value of street photography is in documentary. I have deep respect for those who goes out year after year and document what is around, We look at it three decades later and it is amazing. And it was never done with money in mind...
